After a while, the scene in the living room finally calmed down. They took some chairs from the kitchen so everyone could sit down for the ensuing discussion.
"Dante, Shinobu, let me introduce the two of you to Mr. Ronaldo, the Dean of the Manila Pokemon University."

Dante and Shinobu straightened their backs after hearing this. From his identity, both of them already had a vague guess about what he came here for.
"As you two probably know, Manila Pokemon University is one of the few top Trainer Universities in the country. We have been able to consistently achieve a placement of top 16 in every Inter-University Tournament for the past 5 years. We've even managed to reach 4th place once!"
"Sadly however, that was also our limit. In front of our path, there stood two huge obstacles - the Philippines Pokemon University and the International Pokemon University."
"With what the two of you showed during the Rookie Competition, I have no doubt that you can get into those two Universities with no problem. But I want you to ask yourselves, by joining them, will that really bring you closer to your goals?"
"Mr. Dante, from your interview during the competition, I know that your goal is to become the strongest Trainer. Which do you think will help you more in achieving that? Riding on the tailcoats of those two teams to victory? Or defeating them, and using the prestige they built in countless decades as your stepping stone?"
"And Ms. Shinobu, as someone who wants to prove themselves to their family, I think joining a weaker team and then helping it to defeat the stronger ones will definitely get your point across."
"Join my University. I'll give the both of you a full scholarship in addition to a monthly allowance of 50,000 credits. You can also choose a Pokemon from our school's breeding grounds as well as a Battle Item in the school's repository."
"What do the two of you think? I promise you won't get a higher offer than this from the other Universities."
The dean indeed made a very generous offer. For the other top Universities, civilian Trainers like Dante and Shinobu would at most receive a full scholarship, maybe even an additional allowance every month. For them, their main focus of recruitment will be those Trainers that came from elite families, whose Starter Pokemons have higher racial limits and have a smooth and stable path to becoming stronger.
Dean Ronaldo was gambling on the future. He had been the dean of this school for over a decade now. He was the one who implemented the policies that made this school which struggled in the qualifiers, to being consistently in the top 16.
But consistently being in the top 16 wasn't enough! He wants the school to take 1st place! He tried recruiting young Trainers from elite families like the other top schools, but he was rejected most of the time due to the insufficient resources of the school.
When he managed to snag Louis who came from a family of Gym Trainers, he was ecstatic! Unfortunately, after being defeated in the Rookie competition, Louis contacted him and backed out of their deal.
And after hearing the news that the younger sister of Elite Four Mavuika was going to enter Philippines Pokemon University, he knew that their school sorely needed someone who can hold against her for their university to have a chance in taking the 1st place.
With his recruitment of Trainers from elite families proving fruitless, he shifted his focus to civilian Trainers. He gave those who he thinks has a huge potential for the future, offers that would normally be received by the young elites.
Dante and Shinobu, the winner and runner-up of the Manila Rookie Competition, of course were included in his list. Especially after seeing the Shiny Azumarill when he came in, he became more optimistic about Dante's future.
Although he doesn't know what genetic mutation caused Azumarill to become Shiny, based on his brief glance of it, he was sure it was not something negative.
Dante and Shinobu began to think deeply about Dean Ronaldo's proposal. They excused themselves and discussed it in another room together with Dante's parents.

For Dante, it doesn't really matter which University he attended. With the generous proposal of Dean Ronaldo, he could feel his sincerity towards inviting them. Not to mention, Manila University is the closest Trainer University from his home, so it would be more convenient for him.
Shinobu's reasons were almost the same. The full scholarship and monthly allowance would help a lot in managing her budget. She believes that while a university can indeed help a Trainer grow faster, it would ultimately be up to their own efforts to determine how far they can go on that path.
The both of them also briefly searched about the offers of various top Universities, and they knew the Dean's proposal was indeed well above what civilian Trainers like them were usually offered.
After seeing the two of them nod in agreement, Dean Ronaldo's mood instantly improved. He enthusiastically introduced the two to the various facilities of the university and urged them to register on the official school website after getting enrolled.
He left after that, declining Mrs. Zulueta's invitation to stay for lunch, citing that he had to visit other prospective students. Shinobu also wanted to leave and not disturb their family any further, but she wasn't able to resist the persuasion of Dante's mother and stayed for lunch.

Shinobu smiled in response and thanked her again before leaving the house with Dante. His mother forced him to send Shinobu home, although Dante himself would have done it without her reminder.
"You have a very nice family, Dan. I'm somewhat envious."
"What are you envious about? They will also become your family in the future."
Shinobu's cheeks flushed after hearing Dante's words. It further reddened after feeling Dante hold her hands with his own.

Shinobu was amused at Pikachu's actions and turned on the TV for him. Pikachu's eyes shone and he instantly moved to sit on the sofa. Expertly operating the remote, the TV screen quickly switched to the series he was following.

"It's alright, he won us the competition yesterday. I say he deserves to have a break today."

Pikachu cheered in approval at Dante's words. When Dante released Azumarill, he called him over to sit on the sofa with him.
Because of Azumarill's particularity, Dante took him back to the Pokeball first to avoid the prying eyes of others. As for Accelgor, he already headed towards the treadmill after getting home and started running on it.
Azumarill watched the series with Pikachu for a while but wasn't able to understand what's so good about it. When he told Pikachu this, Pikachu began to animatedly tell a summarized version of what happened in the earlier episodes.
Seeing Azumarill remain uninterested, Pikachu could only reluctantly stop the video and look for movies which they'll both enjoy. At some point, even Accelgor came to join them in searching for what to watch.
And while that was going on in the living room, Dante and Shinobu were currently in her bedroom.
