Chapter 11 - Chapter 11

Sheng Mian looked up, just in time to catch the cold glance that flickered across Fu Yancheng's brow.

A group of people passed by her without sparing a glance, their leader's attention entirely focused on Fu Yancheng. He was extremely polite, clearly eager to please but not daring to offend. The others trailing behind were all dressed in suits, a world she had never been a part of before.

Sheng Mian stood there for a moment, then, carrying her golf club set, she walked out.

Wan Yuan'an, dressed in a high-end sports outfit, had an ordinary appearance. His white golf ball made a beautiful arc and easily sank into the hole. When he saw Sheng Mian arrive, he handed the club to a caddie.

"Penny, your schedule is hard to book," he said with a smile.

Sheng Mian laughed gracefully, sitting beside him. "Young Master Wan is joking. I'm just a freelancer."

As they spoke, the staff around them began clearing the area, signaling that someone important was about to arrive.

Wan Yuan'an noticed her gaze and couldn't help but start bragging. "You know Fu Corporation, right? My dad specifically set up a game today. We're talking about a cooperation deal worth at least two hundred billion."

Sheng Mian, having dealt with various clients with different personalities, knew how to flatter when needed. "I heard that Young Master Wan bought some land last year that cost over three hundred million. Two hundred billion must be a small matter for the heir of Hengda Bank, right?"

Wan Yuan'an's eyes glinted with pride, and a smile tugged at the corner of his lips. "Two hundred billion isn't exactly small, but Fu Yancheng just returned to the country, and Hengda is the first to partner with him. It must carry a bit of favor."

"Indeed, Fu Yancheng's return has caused quite a stir," Sheng Mian replied, her tone neither cold nor warm, but just right.

As Wan Yuan'an took a water bottle from the caddie and walked toward the grass, Sheng Mian followed him.

"Yeah, but I heard from my dad that he's married."

"Really? Fu Yancheng doesn't seem like the type to be married."

Sheng Mian took out her golf club, continuing to play along. Since the client enjoyed gossip, she would entertain him.

"I don't think he seems like someone who's married either. If he really were, how could he not bring his wife along? Unless she's too ugly to show her face."

Sheng Mian paused in her swing, quickly adjusting her posture and replying, "Maybe."

Wan Yuan'an noticed her ponytail creating a beautiful arc in the air, and her skin shimmered in the sunlight. He swallowed, unable to stop his gaze from lingering. "If Fu Yancheng married a beauty like you, Penny, I'm sure he'd want to show you off every day."

"Young Master Wan, you flatter me. I don't have such good fortune."

They chatted casually while playing a few more rounds. After a while, Wan Yuan'an suggested taking a break.

Sheng Mian had been planning to ask about the design order, but before she could speak, he said, "I'm drenched in sweat from the game. How about we go change first?"

Sheng Mian thought for a moment. It wouldn't be appropriate to discuss business in her current state, so she agreed.

After a quick shower, she had just finished changing when the door suddenly opened. Her brow furrowed—private changing rooms should never be entered without knocking.

Looking up, it wasn't the staff standing there. It was Wan Yuan'an, fresh from his shower, wearing nothing but a towel, standing casually in front of her.

He had no visible muscles, and his body showed signs of indulgence in alcohol and excess.

Sheng Mian immediately sensed something was off and, maintaining her composure, spoke with caution. "Young Master Wan, I think you might have the wrong room. This is the ladies' changing room."

Wan Yuan'an chuckled and shamelessly looked her up and down. "Has anyone ever told you how beautiful you are?"

As he spoke, he closed the distance between them, his smile widening. "When I tried to get you to book a session before, you ignored me. This time, though, you came so willingly. Could it be you're short on money?"

Sheng Mian took a step back, her tone cold. "Young Master Wan, please show some respect."

Wan Yuan'an enjoyed her aloof attitude. Women were most attractive when they had a little temper. It made it more thrilling when he pushed harder.

"Don't worry, if you please me, I'll add a few million to the design fee."

Sheng Mian's eyes flashed with disgust as she turned to leave, but Wan Yuan'an was quick to grab her waist, preventing her from going. "There are my men in the hallway. You think you can escape?"

The soft warmth of her body in his arms nearly made him lose control, and he was about to lean in.

"I wasn't planning to escape," she replied calmly. "But, are you sure you want to do this here?"

She took a deep breath, keeping her composure. In terms of physical strength, she knew she wasn't a match for him, and with his men waiting outside, there was little chance of escaping.

"Hengda worked hard to get Fu Yancheng, and you don't want to ruin it all over a momentary impulse, do you?"

Wan Yuan'an sneered, looking her over again. "You think Fu Yancheng will destroy the deal with Hengda just because of you?"

"Yes."

She responded without hesitation, leaving Wan Yuan'an momentarily speechless.

"What is your relationship with Fu Yancheng?"

"He's my husband."

Wan Yuan'an burst out laughing, but then he heard Sheng Mian's next words.

"If you don't believe me, I can call him right now and have him come here."

The laughter on Wan Yuan'an's face froze, and he quickly realized that if Sheng Mian wasn't lying, and Fu Yancheng showed up to find his wife alone with another man in the changing room, even if Fu Yancheng disliked her, his pride as a man wouldn't allow it.

He wasn't sure, so he dared not act further. His expression turned sour as he released his grip.

Sheng Mian had bet on the fact that Wan Yuan'an wouldn't dare, and she silently sighed in relief as she grabbed her belongings and opened the door to leave.

As she stepped into the hallway, her steps halted.

She looked up to see a familiar figure coming toward her, and a wave of heat surged up her back.
