Chapter 3 - Sugar Snow

One month passed. Harin works at Lexus and does nothing. Every day, Harin only follows Syrus, who goes to the monster portal that opened, and she just stares at him for a few minutes without saying anything, before they finally come home.

Harin also only reads black envelopes as a division mission every day. Everything sounds interesting, but all the seniors are the ones who clean up the tasks. Syrus doesn't seem to care, even though reading the mission envelope and announcing it is Ranker's duty.

Harin also read all the reports and the development of their division, then gave a conclusion to Syrus, who immediately signed the report without checking it. The dream job that Harin has been longing for all this time looks easy for others.

For this one month, Harin saw her new friends practicing diligently in the practice room. While Harin went back and forth making coffee without sugar or other drinks for Sylus, who didn't mind her work habits.

Despite Harin never having turned on her work computer, one day she deliberately played games on her phone at a loud volume, ensuring that all her seniors, including her Ranker, knew she was playing games in working hours. However, no one cared until Harin got bored.

"The coffee, sir," Harin said as she placed the coffee ordered by Syrus on the table. She was shocked when it fell, creating a small noise that caused everyone to stare at her.

"I'm sorry, sir!" Harin exclaimed as she cleaned up the broken glass.

"Harin," Julian called. Harin turned her head, Harin grimacing when her finger was pierced by the glass shards.

"Eih, you need to be more careful. Get ready right away; there is an evaluation of new hunters of every month." Harin nodded and got up, accidentally stepping on a shard of glass. She almost fell, even though she felt as if an invisible force was supporting her and helping her stand again.

"Eih... You make me worried."

"S—sorry, my eyes have been dry lately, so I can't see clearly," Harin said.

"The first evaluation tests long-distance abilities. Are you sure you can participate? You look unhealthy you should just take a rest," Julian stated.

"I think that's a good idea, but is it okay if I don't follow it?"

"Not a problem. But maybe you will be a cadet in a week. If you join and the score is low, it may only be two days, but if the score is high, you will be fine."

"You mean this evaluation affects the score of the Division?"

"Yes, not only new members; the Rankers will also be tested as learning material." Harin feels that she is only become a burden, especially since he has not contributed anything to the team for a month. Then in the evaluation stage, she will even be absent.

"Then I'll still follow."

"It's up to you. Get ready soon." Harin nodded. She exited to prepare herself in the eleventh division equipment room, while Julian looked at Sylus, who was still busy looking for an area signal that might indicate where the new gate opened. Even though he didn't seem to care, it was Sylus who held Harin with his strength when she was about to fall earlier.

"It seems that bringing her closer to the portal has affected her eyes. The bloodstone aura continues to react and disturb her body's balance."

"Why don't you help her if you really care about her?" Sylus asked.

"I would if I could control the bloodstone," Julian replied. Julian immediately went to the hall after providing information to the people in the room. Sylus noticed coffee spilling under his table. He immediately followed Julian to the evaluation hall.

Harin took the equipment to start the remote evaluation. The hall was already very crowded; everyone cheered for the power fight between Rankers. Harin looked at Syrius, who was sitting on the number eleven flag. Syrus is really thrifty with his words. Harin can count how many words have come out of Syrus's mouth this month.

Harin also turned his attention to Brian who stepped forward. Harin had not apologized for refusing his offer, even though the only one who defended her during her inauguration was Brian. Harin also hasn't explained anything to Tara about her decision to join with Syrus. It's been a month since Harin talked to her best friend. Syrus even picked up Harin to work on her days off.

Ranker Brian relaxed his hand and then struck the strength measuring ball, which quickly counted up to seven thousand points. Everyone cheered. Brian achieved the first position among the Rankers due to his high strength, above the other four Rankers who had already demonstrated their abilities.

"Who else will come forward?" asked Ranker Seven. Sylus immediately stood up. Silence settled over the hall once more as he walked valiantly toward the power of the gauge ball. Having served one month as Ranker Eleven, this division had gained many points by completing dozens of missions, with Ranker Syrus working twice as fast as other divisions.

"I heard there are only six active members in Division Eleven," said someone next to Harin.

"Yes, the other five members are unknown; this division is mysterious. Even other divisions have three times as many members, yet they don't work as fast as Division Eleven."

"I'm curious about his strength." They stopped talking when Syrus arrived in front of the force-measuring ball. Syrus looked at the power counter ball calmly and hit the ball, which made everyone stunned when he showed the number ten thousand. Everyone knew that Syrus was not serious when he hit it.

"This—the strength of the Eleventh Division?" Harin clenched her fists anxiously. Syrus is not a person who is easily defeated, even by Rankers of the same class with him, especially if he is indeed the one who killed her parents. Harin had to be full of calculations when she was going to kill him.

The other Rankers tried to catch up with Syrus, but the strongest was still Brian, who was at seven thousand, in second position. Now it was the turn of the new hunters; they would compete in long-range shooting. Harin, because the Ranker who achieved first position, would shoot first, alongside Tara and hunters from the First Division.

Harin got the third turn to shoot. The First Division hunter scored eighty points because all of his shots were on target, even though he had missed the two puppets that needed to be shot in the heart by a few inches. Tara scored a hundred points.

Harin tried to focus her eyes on the doll that moved quickly from left to right. Let alone looking at the shot point on the doll's head, Harin couldn't even follow the doll's movements. She pulled the trigger, which immediately lodged the bullet into the back wall of the doll. Everyone started whispering about Harin.

Harin's name is quite popular since Syrus only chose her for his division. They think that Harin has a hidden ability and only manipulates her test results. However, Harin's serious face, along with the shot that didn't hit the target doll, really made everyone feel disappointed.

"That's from Division Eleven? Sylus Ranker?"

"Yes, she entered because of the lucky. I don't know what Mr. Sylus thought when he accepted her; she was a burden on the team."

"Don't listen to what they say, focus forward," said Tara. Harin spread her legs wider, focused on the doll at a closer distance, and started shooting. Even though Harin's shot missed again.

"Are you sure you don't need extra eyes?" someone shouted. Everyone laughed at the joke, which made Harin's face heat up. She shot again, even though the third shot did not hit the target at all.

"Stop being a hunter! The cadet is suitable for you!" shouted the others.

"Yeahh! You embarrass the hunter!"

"Harin, focus," said Tara. Harin fired the last

Tara is right; Harin will not achieve anything with her poor ability, let alone killing an enemy as strong as Syrus. Harin won't be able to.

Syrus saw a red aura exuding from Harin's body, along with a signal on his watch indicating an open portal. Previously, Harin had been disappointed because she thought that if Syrus did not accept her into the team, the portal to the underworld also open. He got up and left the hall.

Harin washed her face in the women's toilet; she gripping the sink because she felt really useless. She only had a big mouth to avenge the death of her parents. Tara was just about to follow in to entertain Harin, even though her shoulder was being held by Ranker, which made Tara speechless.

"I'll take care of it," Syrus said as he went into the women's toilet. Harin pulled the tissue in disappointment. She didn't know what to say to her friend, who would always support Harin.

"Don't talk, Tara. I—"

"Disappointing." Harin, who realized that the person behind her was not her best friend, turned around. She looked down when Syrus was right in front of her. Harin was, of course, surprised, but he tried to suppress it because Syrus was too close. Her forehead was almost close to Syrus's chest.

"I'm sorry, sir."

"You should be able to shoot even without eyes; bullets that follow your orders," explained Syrus.

"I will be even better." Harin gasped when Syrus touched her hair; he approached while Harin was still silent in confusion, especially when Syrus got rid of her hair that blocked her neck. Harin's blood was hot; Syrus seemed to provoke her desire in the midst of the current disappointing situation.

"S—sir..." Syrus touched the back of Harin's neck, making an abstract tattoo appear on her skin as she tried to step back, even though Syrus held her in place.

"Shut up." Harin opened her eyes wide. She clenched her fists when she felt her neck get hot; the aura of bloodstone was absorbed into the tattoo as Syrus pressed it.

"H—hot..."

"Hold on." Harin felt dizzy; she endured the pain that made her hold onto the Syrus suit. The bloodstone aura entered faster and faster, and Harin's moans couldn't be held back. Both of her legs trembled; she was unable to bear her body weight until Syrus spontaneously wrapped his hands around Harin's waist.

After pressing the bloodstone's power, Harin felt her energy-less body lifted and sat on the toilet sink. Harin was shocked; she opened her eyes wide when she saw the shadow of the wolf's face behind Syrus's body, which made her tremble.

"Show your ability, no more excuses. If you become a cadet, you'd better get out of the Lexus."

To Be Continued.
