Chapter 41 - Hydra (3)

"Alright, let's rest for a moment and plan out our strategy," Alice sighed, her voice tinged with both exhaustion and determination. She settled on a large rock, her fingers slipping into the leather pouch at her waist.

The small leather container creaked slightly as she retrieved it, uncorking it with a soft twist. She took a long sip, her throat working as the water dripped down her fair skin, beads collecting on her lips before trickling down the side of her chin.

As she wiped the water from her lips, she glanced at her companions. "We still have ten potions left—enough for the battle, but we only have two Magic Potions." She let the words hang in the air, the weight of them was important.

"If we want to drag this out and wear the creature down, it's going to be difficult. We'll need to plan carefully." Alice then continues.

Sylvie, standing nearby with an air of quiet calculation, narrowed her eyes. She didn't say anything at first but then pulled a scroll from her belt and handed it to Alice.

The parchment was old, edges frayed, but the runes glowing faintly still held power. "This is a transportation scroll. I was thinking, if things get too dangerous, we could use it to retreat—gather more supplies, maybe even summon The Commander."

Alice took the scroll, her fingers briefly brushing against Sylvie's, but she didn't react to the contact. She turned the scroll over in her hands, considering the suggestion.

Her brow furrowed as she thought about their options. "We only have one teleportation scroll left," Alice said after a pause, her voice calm but edged with resolve. "None of us know how to make more, and even if we did, it's risky bringing The Commander into this. We're already deep into enemy territory, and if we call for backup, we risk attracting unwanted attention."

There was a moment of silence as Alice considered their dwindling options. She glanced at the others, her gaze scanning each of their faces. "If we go back, we may miss our chance. Unknown may not be dead—he could've just retreated to plan, and if that's the case, we can't let him get the upper hand again. We'll lose everything."

The air hung thick with tension, and there was an unspoken understanding among the group that this wasn't just any battle—it was their final stand. Every decision from here on out would determine not only their survival but the outcome of their mission. The quiet weight of the moment pressed on their shoulders, but there was no time for hesitation.

"We're not going back, then?" Sylvie asked, her voice quiet but resolute, like the calm before a storm.

"Yeah, there is no going back," Alice declared with a hardened resolve. She stood at the edge of their makeshift camp, staring out at the shadowy path ahead, her eyes narrowing.

Her hand instinctively moved to check her equipment one last time—her sword, the small collection of potions hanging at her belt, the intricate bracers she wore to protect her arms.

The familiar weight was comforting, but it was nothing compared to the burden of what lay before them.

Alice sighed softly, taking a moment to breathe in the cool, crisp air, letting the silence envelop her for just a second. She wasn't ready, but none of them were. They had come too far to turn back now.

"But what if the Death Knight uses this opportunity to strike us down?" Robert's voice, deep and filled with concern, broke through the quiet. He was adjusting the straps on his armor; his brow furrowed as he thought through their situation. He had always been the cautious one, never one to rush into danger without considering the risks.

"He won't do that," Alice replied sharply, her voice carrying the weight of authority but also of certainty. There was no room for doubt, not now.

"Are you sure?" Sylvie interjected, her voice skeptical but tinged with the same anxiety that everyone else was trying to suppress. Her hand hovered over the dagger at her side.

Alice met Sylvie's gaze without hesitation, her eyes warm and focused. "Sure," she said with a confidence that didn't falter. "Even if he wanted to attack, he couldn't. This Hydra will target him first because he had attacked it before."

Sylvie's eyes narrowed, thinking this through for a moment, while Robert shifted uneasily, glancing toward the shadows that loomed just beyond their camp.

The Hydra—their main focus now—was a vicious creature, and it was clear that any distraction could play into its hands. Unknown if he did strike, he would be entering a trap of his own making.

Or so that they thought.

"The Hydra's hatred for him runs deep. It's more focused on him than us right now," Alice added, her tone more thoughtful now, considering their situation from every angle. "We're not fighting just the Hydra; we're fighting its rage, its need for vengeance. And the Death Knight gave it that. His mistake."

Unknown was a formidable foe, but this time, it wasn't his battle to fight—not directly. The creature would be distracted, its attention pulled away by a deeper, ancient grudge. Alice knew this, and it gave her a sliver of hope.

Robert grunted, adjusting his sword as he looked at Alice, his expression still tight.

"So we've got one advantage, but that still doesn't mean the Hydra won't be a problem. We've all known what it can do."

The Hydra was no ordinary beast—it was a creature of legend. Tales of its eight serpent-like heads, each capable of spewing fire, had haunted the imaginations of adventurers for centuries.

Its tough, almost impenetrable skin was impervious to most forms of magic, a fact that made it even more deadly. Worse yet, its regenerative abilities meant that every wound inflicted on it could be healed almost instantly, making it a nightmare to defeat.

"Yes," Alice agreed.

"It's powerful, but we've seen its weaknesses too. We just need to be faster and smarter than it." Her hand tightened around her sword's hilt, and she turned to face her companions fully, meeting each of their gazes in turn.

"We go in. We hit hard. We end this before the Hydra can generate."

The group nodded in unison, though the uncertainty still lingered in their eyes. There was no turning back now, no second chances. If they failed, the consequences were clear.

But if they succeeded... Unknown, the Hydra, and whatever other forces stood in their way would be vanquished.

"Let's move," Alice said, her voice steady despite the storm that raged within her. She turned toward the path ahead, and the group fell in line behind her.

Each step was a silent promise to one another that they would see this through—together, until the end.

"Let's go!" Alice's voice rang out with authority, and her sword gleamed as she pointed it toward the towering Hydra. Without hesitation, she sprinted forward, her every step purposeful and filled with determination. As she moved, her hands swiftly made the gestures necessary to invoke her spell.

"Holy Light, envelop me—[Body of Light]."

The air around Alice shimmered as the spell took effect, a radiant glow surrounding her body. Her form seemed to blur as the holy aura wrapped around her, intensifying the light until her figure seemed to pulse with pure energy. Her sword, once a mere weapon, now gleamed with the divine power of the spell, its edge glowing a brilliant white. The holy aura swirled around the blade, enhancing its power and granting it an edge that would strike true against undead monsters, doubling its damage against the Hydra's cursed form.

The Hydra, its many heads snapping and hissing with fury, reacted immediately. Each of the beast's eight heads swung violently toward Alice, the monstrous whips of serpentine necks crackling through the air with an unholy roar. They moved with terrifying speed, each one aimed with lethal precision at the lithe warrior before it.

"Claw! Pincer, assist me!" Alice called out, her voice cutting through the noise of the battlefield. Her two front-line fighters, Claw and Pincer, immediately sprang into action, their muscles tensing as they raised their shields, moving into position to intercept the Hydra's heads. Their weapons were poised and ready, their stances solid as they blocked and parried the attacks, keeping the Hydra distracted and off balance.

Alice, meanwhile, didn't hesitate. Her eyes locked onto her target. With a single, powerful leap, she launched herself into the air, her body glowing with holy light as she soared toward the Hydra. She landed gracefully atop one of the Hydra's massive heads, her feet steady and strong. Without wasting a moment, she spun, her blade cutting through the air in a series of swift, precise arcs.

Her sword sliced through the first head with ease, a crescent-shaped strike that severed it cleanly from the body.

Before the first head could even hit the ground, Alice was already in motion again, her blade flashing as it cleaved through a second head in a single fluid motion. The two heads fell, severed, their bodies writhing in agonized death as the holy energy coursed through them.

"Lightning Lance, fire!" Sylvie's voice rang out as she chanted the spell, her staff glowing with the power of her magic.

With a swift motion, she released a bolt of lightning toward the Hydra, the electric lance shooting forward with crackling energy. However, the Hydra's thick, scaly hide absorbed most of the attack's impact.

The lightning barely made a dent, only pushing one of the Hydra's heads back slightly before it reared up again with a hiss of irritation.

"I knew that would happen," Sylvie muttered under her breath, her eyes narrowing with frustration. The Hydra's resistance to magic was formidable, and her spell had proved ineffective against the beast's tough hide.

Robert, standing a few paces behind the others, didn't hesitate. Knowing that direct magical attacks wouldn't be very effective, he called upon the power of his blood.

"Great ancestor, pierce the enemy!" he shouted as he unleashed his signature attack, the [Spiral Blood Arrow]. His blood-tipped arrow spun through the air like a deadly whirlpool, piercing through the dense atmosphere toward the Light Crystals littering the dungeon.

It struck true, embedding itself into a crystal-like spike atop the Hydra's head. The impact caused the spike to break off and plummet down, crashing into the Hydra's body with a force that staggered the massive creature.

The beast let out a screech, stunned for just a moment, as its head recoiled from the blow.

Seeing her opening, Alice moved with incredible precision. "Now!" she shouted, her voice cutting through the chaos as she executed a flawless aerial flip.

Her sword gleamed with holy light as she spun mid-air, using the momentum to deliver a spinning slash that cleaved through one of the Hydra's remaining heads. The head fell with a grotesque thud, blood spraying in all directions as the beast let out a tormented scream.

But the Hydra wasn't finished yet.

With a guttural roar of pain and rage, the creature immediately lowered its remaining heads to the ground, its massive necks coiling with deadly speed.

The Hydra inhaled deeply, preparing for an all-out attack. Then, in a terrifying instant, the creature unleashed hellish flames from its gaping mouths. The inferno spread out in a wide arc, flames dancing through the air like a tidal wave of destruction.

Alice, quick to recognize the threat, leaped backward, narrowly avoiding the flames as they scorched the air around her. Her agility saved her once again, and she landed a safe distance away, breathing heavily from the exertion.

But Claw and Pincer weren't as fortunate.

Caught off guard by the sudden eruption of fire, both of them were unable to escape in time. Claw's left arm was caught by the flames, his armor sizzling as the fire burned through it.

Pincer, too, was singed on his right arm, his screams of pain echoing through the battlefield. The burns left them both wounded, and their combat effectiveness was greatly reduced as they struggled to regroup and recover from the searing pain.

The Hydra, with its heads now spitting fire and its bodies writhing in fury, was more dangerous than ever.

"The recovery speed is too fast!" Alice's voice was filled with urgency as she watched in disbelief. The Hydra, having lost three heads, had already regrown two.

The beast's regenerative power was unnervingly swift, a clear indication that their current strategy wasn't going to be enough.

The creature's eyes, once a dull yellow, now glowed a fierce red. It was as if the Hydra had entered a new phase of rage, its scales darkening and sharp, dangerous-looking spikes starting to emerge along its hide. Alice's heart sank. The Hydra had grown even stronger in the face of their onslaught.

But what truly caught their attention were the two heads on the right. They twisted and coiled around each other, as if communicating. Then, in unison, the heads began to gather a menacing, destructive energy.

Alice's mind raced, her instincts kicking in. The danger was unmistakable.

"[Infernal Nova]," the Hydra hissed, and in an instant, dust and smoke began to swirl around the two heads. A blinding explosion of heat and energy erupted from them, creating a devastating beam aimed directly at the group. The force of it sent tremors through the ground.

"Get behind me!" Alice shouted, her voice commanding and fierce. Her team didn't hesitate—they rushed towards her, knowing what was coming.

Without wasting a second, Alice gritted her teeth and plunged her sword into the ground with a swift, decisive motion. "Divine Light, Reflect [Mirror of Light]."

A shimmering barrier of light erupted from the sword, expanding into a brilliant mirror. It stood tall and radiant, the reflection of holy energy shimmering across its surface.

The hellish heat beam slammed into the mirror with a deafening roar. The light reflected the beam back toward the Hydra, severing one of its remaining heads in a spectacular burst of flame and blood.

But the victory was short-lived.

The mirror, though powerful, couldn't hold up against the intensity of the blast. It cracked under the pressure, and with a violent explosion of light and sound, it shattered. The shockwave sent everyone flying, their bodies propelled backward by the force.

Alice tumbled through the air, her body crashing into the ground with a painful thud. Her vision blurred, but she quickly shook herself awake, blinking away the dizziness. 'What just happened?' she thought, struggling to regain her bearings.

Was that even magic? Or had the Hydra's attack defied the reflective power of her spell?

No time for doubts.

As Alice pushed herself to her feet, she noticed the severed head of the Hydra wasn't regenerating. That was something. It had been destroyed beyond the creature's regenerative abilities. But just as she began to feel a flicker of hope, something unexpected occurred.

The Hydra, unwilling to simply die, was adapting.

The severed head, seemingly burned and unable to regenerate, was not useless. The head beside it opened its mouth, chomped at the burned neck, and ripped it apart.

It suddenly twisted violently and threw that piece of meat as it were a bullet.

Propelled by a violent force, the neck flew and shot toward Robert with deadly precision.

"What's happening, it's—!" Robert barely had time to react before the severed head collided with him. The impact was catastrophic. The sheer force of it blasted him backward, sending him careening through the air like a ragdoll.

He hit the ground hard, and Alice could see the blood staining the ground where he lay. His chest heaved with shallow breaths, but he wasn't dead. Not yet.

Alice's heart pounded in her chest as she rushed toward him, but before she could reach his side, the Hydra made its next move. Without pausing, the monstrous creature charged forward like a freight train.

Its remaining heads hissed in rage, and with terrifying speed, the Hydra barreled toward them, its massive body pushing through the battlefield with relentless force.

"Damn it!" Alice hissed in frustration, her eyes burning with determination. The Hydra's relentless assault had worn her down, but she couldn't afford to falter now. Her grip tightened on the hilt of her sword as she summoned every last bit of strength she had left. In an explosion of holy light, her sword began to glow brighter than ever before.

"[Sword of Light]."

With a mighty swing, Alice cleaved the air with her blade, releasing a massive burst of radiant energy. The light blade shot forward with precision, cutting through the air, leaving a trail of shimmering brilliance in its wake. It should have been enough to cleave through the Hydra's hide, its regenerative scales, its very soul. But—

The Hydra was completely unaffected by her strike.

'No effect?!' Alice's eyes widened in disbelief, her momentum faltering as she stumbled back. The radiant energy that had usually struck with such overwhelming force had barely made a dent. The Hydra's regenerative power seemed to shrug off her attack as if it were nothing more than a gentle breeze.

Caught off guard by the Hydra's resilience, Alice's breath quickened, and in that moment of hesitation, the monster seized its opportunity. Three massive heads lunged toward her with terrifying speed, snapping and hissing, their fangs dripping with venom and heat.

'It's over…' A wave of dread washed over Alice as the enormous creature's jaws gaped, ready to strike. She had failed. The end was near.

"Alice!!!!" Pincer's desperate voice broke through the chaos, and before Alice could react, something heavy collided with her. Pincer had torn off his own arm, hurling it at her with all his remaining strength. The severed limb struck her, knocking her out of the path of the Hydra's crushing jaws just in time.

The Hydra roared in fury, its three heads slamming into the ground with such force that the earth trembled beneath them. As the monster gathered energy, the ground around it seemed to warp with dark power, the very air thickening with the heat of its attack.

"[Infernal Impact]!"

Hellfire exploded from the Hydra's mouth, tearing through the earth with blistering intensity. The flames cut through the battlefield, sending rocks and debris flying like missiles. Alice and her team were forced to dive and roll out of the way to avoid the full brunt of the attack. The heat was unbearable, even from a distance, but they were fast enough to avoid being consumed by the blast.

As Alice scrambled to her feet, her breath came in ragged gasps. Her body trembled with exhaustion. Every muscle in her body screamed for her to stop, to retreat, to run away from the unstoppable monster in front of them. But she couldn't—retreat meant certain death. The Hydra would incinerate them with its heat rays the moment they tried to flee. Fighting was the only option.

Grimacing, Alice forced herself upright. Her vision blurred, but she wouldn't let herself falter again. This time, she had to push through. The Hydra's relentless assault couldn't be allowed to continue.

"Sylvie, create the rain!" she ordered, her voice hoarse but filled with determination.

Sylvie nodded, understanding immediately. Without another word, she raised her staff, focusing all her energy into the chant. "Water spirits, pour down the rain upon the earth."

"[Monsoon Torrent]."

The skies above them darkened, and in an instant, a torrential downpour began, drenching the entire area. The rain poured in sheets, pounding against the ground, the steam rising from the heated earth. It created a thick mist that obscured both their vision and the Hydra's, a perfect cover for Alice to make her move.

The world became a blur of steam and water, the mist swirling around her as she blended into it, using it as both shield and weapon. The Hydra, confused by the sudden obscurity, turned its heads frantically, but it was too late. Alice was already moving, closing the distance with blinding speed. She leapt forward, gathering her strength for one final strike.

"[Moonlight Slash]!"

The strike was a blur, a crescent of shining light that cut through the mist with deadly precision. The blade connected with the Hydra's necks, severing three of its remaining heads in an instant. The massive heads fell to the ground with a sickening thud, their life force draining as they lay twitching.

But the battle was far from over.

With a shriek of pain and fury, the remaining heads lunged toward Alice from every direction. She had acted too quickly. The Hydra wasn't done yet. The remaining heads were fast—too fast. They arrived from all sides, jaws snapping, flames lashing out, aiming to finish her off.

Alice's heart raced. There was no time to think.

But just as the Hydra's heads reared back for their final, devastating strike, a shadow darted across the battlefield. Claw, the silent warrior, emerged from the mist with incredible speed. He launched himself at one of the Hydra's incoming strikes, his arm raised to block it for Alice.

The blow was colossal, sending a shockwave through the air. The Hydra's head slammed into Claw with terrifying force, and the impact was so powerful that it felt like his arm might shatter under the pressure. He gritted his teeth, his arm quaking under the strain, but he refused to budge. "Don't worry about me!" he shouted through the agony, his voice strained.

Alice, though momentarily stunned by his sacrifice, knew this was her only chance. She gave him a quick nod, her eyes filled with gratitude, before twisting her body into a spinning strike. Her sword cleaved through the Hydra's neck in front of her with incredible precision, severing it cleanly. She didn't stop there—using the momentum, she leapt onto the back of the now-headless beast, moving swiftly into its blind spot.

But just as she took a moment to assess her surroundings, an explosion shattered the air. The force of it reverberated in Alice's chest, and she heard Claw's scream pierce the chaos around her. Her heart dropped into her stomach.

"Claw!" she shouted, but the sound was swallowed by the roar of the Hydra.

The beast, enraged, began to thrash wildly, fire spewing from its remaining heads, but Alice didn't let herself be distracted.

Her focus was laser-sharp as she scanned the Hydra's body, searching for the core—the vital point of weakness that could end this nightmare. It was something she'd read about in her studies, but never thought she'd be forced to rely on it.

'Where is it? Where is it?!' she thought, her pulse hammering in her ears.

Using her advanced magical vision, Alice quickly located two glowing nuclei, embedded deep within the Hydra's body. Without hesitation, she plunged her sword into one of them, channeling her magic through the blade.

A brilliant beam of light erupted from her sword, and with a deafening crack, the core shattered into pieces.

The Hydra screamed in pure agony, thrashing violently, its remaining heads spiraling through the air in a wild frenzy. Fire and smoke erupted everywhere as the beast's pain manifested in destructive blasts.

Alice narrowly dodged a wave of flames that nearly engulfed her, her heart pounding from the near miss.

But in that instant, she knew: they had a chance.

"Sylvie!" Alice called, her voice hoarse but filled with urgency. "Now!"

Sylvie, who had been waiting for the perfect moment, raised her staff with a focused look in her eyes. Her fingers danced through the air as she called upon the spirits of the storm.

"Spirits of thunder, shatter, pierce!" she chanted, her voice carrying the weight of the spell.

The air crackled with energy as a massive lance of lightning coiled around her staff, growing in power with every passing second. Sylvie's magic surged as she released the bolt with a mighty cry, sending the lightning lance hurtling through the Hydra's massive body at the speed of sound.

The lance struck the Hydra square in the chest, scorching its flesh and leaving a gaping hole in its torso. The Hydra shrieked in fury and pain as the energy coursed through its body, but it was not yet finished.

Three of its heads, twisted and battered but still vicious, coiled together and began to gather power, preparing to unleash an even more devastating heat beam.

Alice could see the desperation in their movements. She knew they didn't have much time left.

From the sidelines, Robert, his body battered and bloodied, struggled to stay on his feet. A large hole gaped in his side, and his face was pale from exhaustion.

He had used up all the potions they had left, and it was clear he was on the verge of collapse. The only thing keeping him alive now was his vampire bloodline, which had allowed him to endure despite the grave injuries.

With his blood dripping from his wound, Robert raised his hand, gathering the dark essence of his own blood into a sphere in front of him. His eyes flashed with determination, even in the face of death.

"I, the blood of the great Vampire Lord, vow to sacrifice everything," Robert intoned, his voice low and commanding.

The sphere of blood began to shift and solidify, forming a dark crimson blade that pulsed with power. It shot forward like a missile, hurtling toward the Hydra's remaining heads. The creature had no time to react.

The moment the blood blade connected with the Hydra, the remaining heads fell from its body, severed with chilling precision. The heads hit the ground with a sickening thud, their lifeless eyes staring into the sky as the monstrous beast finally collapsed.

For a brief moment, everything fell silent. Alice stood panting, her sword still glowing faintly in her hand. She could barely process the victory.

Claw's sacrifice, Robert's final blow, and the burning aftermath of the battle—the weight of it all pressed down on her shoulders.

But they had won.

The Hydra's final death throes echoed through the air as it collapsed, its massive body crumpling to the ground in defeat. But the victory was bittersweet, for with it came the loss of Robert, who had sacrificed everything in the final moments of battle.

His once vibrant face, filled with vitality and determination, now lay lifeless. His eyes, which had seen the world with unshakable confidence, were now dull and empty.

"Robert!!!" Alice screamed, rushing to his side, but there was no response.

Sylvie was already there, clutching his body, tears streaming down her face as she desperately tried to revive him. "Don't die, you're a Vampire, drink my blood and wake up!" Sylvie cried, but her words fell on deaf ears.

Alice stood frozen, the weight of the moment crashing down on her. Robert, her friend, her comrade, had been by her side for so long. They had fought together, bled together, laughed together.

And now he was gone. She could see the raw pain in Sylvie's eyes as she clung to his body, as if refusing to accept the finality of it all.

"...Robert..." Sylvie whispered, her voice barely audible as she hugged him even tighter.

"Please don't!!!" Sylvie cried out, her sobs wracking her body. The battle, the sacrifices, the bloodshed—none of it mattered now. All that mattered was the friend she had lost.

Her heart shattered as she held onto him, wishing there was something—anything—that could bring him back.

The battlefield, once filled with the roar of combat, now fell into an oppressive silence.

Alice could hear nothing but the sound of Sylvie's sobbing and her own labored breaths. The weight of grief hung heavily in the air, and for a moment, it felt as though the entire world had stopped.

But the death toll was far from over. Pincer had managed to reach them, his body battered and covered in burns. He was clutching his severed arm, doing his best to stop the bleeding, but his face was a mask of anguish.

'Claw, Robert…' Alice thought, her eyes scanning the battlefield, the bodies of their fallen comrades a haunting reminder of the price they had paid.

'They're dead…'

'They are dead.'

The pain in her chest grew, and her mind reeled. The losses were too much to bear, too much for one person to carry. She had already lost her parents, and now she was losing everything else that had ever mattered to her.

Her face twisted in agony as the tears began to fall, hot and relentless.

"Ah..." Alice gasped, clutching her chest as the weight of grief threatened to crush her.

Her face contorted with the raw emotion of it all, her heart breaking into pieces. She had given everything in this battle, only to watch her friends and comrades die one by one.

But as she stood there, her body shaking from the intensity of her sorrow, something inside her told her to look up. An overwhelming sense of unease filled the air.

'The Hydra... it's still alive.'

The last head, which had barely survived their assault, was starting to heal. Slowly, but surely, it was regenerating. The damage had taken its toll on the creature, but it was still alive, still dangerous.

"No…!" Alice muttered under her breath, feeling a surge of anger and fear. She couldn't let this beast take any more from her. It had already taken too much.

"Die!!!" Alice screamed in fury, her sword raised high as she charged toward the Hydra to deliver the final blow.

But just as she neared the creature, a sudden force struck her from behind, sending her flying through the air.

"No!" Alice screamed, but the impact was too great. She barely had time to react before she was hurled into the abyss, the darkness below her swallowing her whole. The tail of the Hydra had struck with enough force to send her flying across the battlefield.

She barely managed to lessen the blow using her body-enhancing magic, but it wasn't enough to stop the momentum. The pain was blinding, and everything around her seemed to distort and fade.

'No! This can't be happening!'

Her mind screamed, but the abyss kept pulling her deeper, relentless in its grasp. The battle, the loss of her comrades, the Hydra—it was all slipping away, leaving only the cold emptiness of the void.

'It's not fair!' she thought, the words echoing in her mind.

And then, just as she thought it was over, a green light burst from behind her. She didn't know what it was, but it filled the air with an overwhelming energy, and for a brief moment, everything seemed to come to an end.

Her body continued to plummet, the darkness growing ever deeper as she struggled to reach out for something—anything. But there was nothing to grab, nothing to hold onto.

"AHHHHH!!!"

Her scream tore through the abyss as she fell, unable to stop the freefall into the unknown.
