Far from the desolate wasteland that had once been the Wanderers' camp, another world seemed to unfold. Jagged, spiraling stones rose into the ashen-gray sky like the teeth of some primordial beast. Lightning danced furiously above, crackling through the dense, oppressive air. The light was sharp, almost blinding, illuminating the surreal landscape in brief, jagged intervals.
Here, the laws of nature twisted, bending into something alien and hostile. The very ground beneath the stones pulsed faintly, as if alive, breathing with an unnatural rhythm. The air was thick with a bitter tang, sharp enough to sting the lungs, and a faint hum echoed endlessly.... a sound that seemed to vibrate within the bones rather than the ears.
Amid this hostile terrain, a figure moved steadily, its silhouette a madden blend of human and something far worse. Its skin, once pale, had turned a mottled reddish hue, as if burned from the inside out. Though its body appeared damaged, the creature walked calmly... almost too calm. In one hand, it gripped a massive, fleshy sword, the weapon pulsing faintly as if it shared its wielder's corrupted vitality.
The figure's face was twisted... rough, unkempt hair hung in uneven strands, and a scraggly beard covered a jaw clenched in slight perpetual tension. Its eyes, once human, had been consumed by void-like darkness, their hollow gaze betraying neither pain nor purpose.
Ahead, the stones gave way to a swirling vortex... a portal. The vortex pulsed gently, radiating a soft, transcendent energy. It spun lazily, its edges shimmering as if the fabric of reality itself had been torn open to reveal something beyond comprehension.
The figure approached, each step echoing faintly in the unnatural stillness. Its sword dragged lightly against the stone beneath, leaving shallow grooves as it advanced.
But just as the figure reached the portal, it vanished. The swirling energy flickered, then disappeared entirely, as if snuffed out by an unseen force.
The figure twitched, its dark eyes narrowing. The space around it began to shift, folding inward. The jagged stones dissolved, replaced by an endless void.
No light. No sound.
Only emptiness.
Then, a voice.
"Hello there, Teka… Oh, forgive me. Lords of Teka, isn't it?"
The words echoed, resonating through the void with a strange, ethereal weight. The figure tensed, its grip tightening on the sword as it turned to face the source.
A girl emerged from the darkness. She looked no older than sixteen, her appearance at odds with the oppressive atmosphere. Long, white hair cascaded down her back, and her deep blue eyes sparkled with an unnatural light. Her smile was wide, playful, and yet deeply unsettling. She moved with an almost childlike grace, leaping lightly as if the void were her playground.
"Who are you?" the Lords of Teka demanded, its voice a cacophony of overlapping tones, resonating from deep within its corrupted body.
The girl tilted her head, her smile widening. "Oh, me?" she said lightly, as if the question amused her. "I don't think I have a name. Would you like to give me one?"
In that moment, her deep blue eyes darkened, shifting into an abyssal black.... darker than the void around her. They seemed to devour light itself, endless pits that stared back into the soul of anyone who dared to look too long.
The Lords of Teka took an involuntary step back, its corrupted body trembling for the first time. Its mouth opened, words struggling to form. "Un… Un… Unkn…"
Before it could finish, the girl raised a finger to her lips, her smile never faltering.
"Hush…"
Her voice dropped to a whisper, ethereal and cracked, reverberating with a spiritual weight that rippled through the void. It wasn't just sound.... it was an experience, a force that seemed to press against the very essence of existence.
"I don't want the readers to see," she said, her tone almost playful, but laced with an undercurrent of something far more sinister.
The space around them collapsed.
The stones, the void, even the figure of the Lords of Teka... all of it vanished.
Only silence remained.
And in that silence, the universe held its breath.
