"What about you Penelope, what have you been studying?."Emily asked.
Penelope smiled. "I'm studying Home Economics, Emily. I'm learning how to manage a household, supervise servants, and oversee daily operations."
Emily's curiosity got the better of her. "That's interesting. I would have thought you'd learn those skills from a governess, like most ladies do."
Penelope's eyes sparkled with a hint of mischief. "I wanted to be free, at least for a little while. I didn't want to be confined to the traditional lessons with a governess. I wanted to experience university life, meet new people, and learn in a more... unconventional way."
Emily nodded understandingly, feeling a sense of solidarity with Penelope. "I know exactly what you mean. I'm doing the same thing. It's nice to have the freedom to make our own choices, isn't it?"
" I have something to do know ,I have a research with some other team, let's meet at the library later, the usual time." David said as he took a pocket watch out of his trouser pocket.
Penelope nodded with a smile."sure David ,we would meet later at the library,Emily and I would go have our breakfast."
At the mention of breakfats Emily's stomach growled making the team chuckle, they ender going two different ways with David going for his research and The ladies going for breakfast.
At the Dinning hall ,students were crowded as usual,Emily's eyes scanned the bustling dining hall, taking in the sights and smells of freshly baked bread, steaming hot porridge, and sizzling meats. Her stomach growled louder, reminding her that she hadn't eaten breakfast yet.
As they waited in line, Emily's gaze fell upon a basket of freshly baked bread. Her mouth began to water at the sight of the golden-brown loaves. She reached for one, but her eyes widened in surprise when she saw the price tag.
"Six silvers for a loaf of bread?" Emily exclaimed. "That's expensive!"
Just then, Penelope appeared beside her, carrying a large basket filled with an assortment of freshly baked bread, pastries, and fruit.
"Emily" Penelope called out cheerfully. "I see you're admiring the bread. Would you like some?"
Emily's eyes widened in surprise. "How did you afford all of this? The bread is so expensive!"
Penelope smiled mischievously and pulled out a small gold coin from her pocket. "This is a pass I was given by Robert,"It's a special privilege card," Penelope explained, "given to me by Robert. His family are big shareholders of the school, and since I'm partially a part of the family, I get to enjoy some perks."
Emily's eyes widened in understanding. "So, you get everything for free?"
Penelope nodded, smiling. "That's right! With this card, I can get anything I want from the school's shops and dining halls without paying a single silver."
Emily's gaze fell upon the basket of food in Penelope's hands, and her eyes grew wide with envy. "That's amazing! I wish I had a card like that."
Penelope chuckled and handed Emily a warm pastry. "Don't worry, Emily. You're my friend, and I'm happy to share my perks with you. Now, let's enjoy our breakfast."
As they sat down at a table, Emily took a bite of the warm pastry and closed her eyes in bliss. "Mmm, this is delicious!"
Penelope smiled and nodded. "I know, right? The school's bakery is amazing."
Just then, a group of five girls walked into the dining hall, turning heads as they made their way to the food counter. The girl in the middle caught Emily's attention - she was stunningly beautiful, with long, curly blonde hair and piercing blue eyes. She wore a rich, velvet dress that looked like it belonged on a noblewoman, not a student.
As the group approached Emily and Penelope's table, the blonde girl barely acknowledged Penelope's presence before turning to Emily.
"You must be the new one," she said, her voice dripping with condescension. "I'm Lady Victoria White ,the only daughter of Count white of Brookline, and these are my friends."
Emily felt a sense of intimidation but she still smiled."I'm Emily Patton."
Lady Victoria leaned in a bit and asked."any relation to Duke Patton of Oakwood."?
Emily suddenly felt flabbergasted, this was the third time someone asked."no I'm not related to Duke Patton."
Lady Victoria her eyes looking more condescending."well alright, I won't best around the bush ,have you heard of Lucas,A.K.A the Lucifer" Victoria said in a hushed voice as tho she didn't want someone else to hear.
Emily looked at Penelope who was hallily having her meal ,not minding Victoria's presence."I'm sorry lady Victoria is there any problem."
Lady Victoria laughed sarcastically."off course not dear Ms Patton, it's just Iove marking my territory." Victoria said shamelessly.
Penelope chuckled a bit taking a glass of milk to gulp down." Lady Victoria ,you keeping marking Lucas as your territory but he doesn't even have the slightest knowledge of you existence, you only admire from afar."
Lady Victoria's face flushed in anger and she bangs her hand on the table grabbing some attention to them."you despicable thing ,if it weren't for the Maxwells backing you ,you wouldn't even be here."
Penelope laughed." Don't know where you get your own gossips ,but I must remind you that I'm a part of the Maxwells family by the law unlike you an illegitimate soul."Penelope uttered laying emphasis on the words ,she could clearly see Victoria's face becoming more flushed ,if they was anything the Young Victoria hated the most it was being reminded of her root.
"How dare you talk to Lady Tory like that , you only spurt lies." One of the minions said angrily rushing to slap Penelope, but Penelope was faster and took a quick step having the girl fall on her belly."
"Lady Victoria please teach your minions some manners ,after all you wouldn't want some letter written to The count ,and as for my friends, she's no threat to your untied pursuit,so please don't bother her otherwise you may get some order from your father." Penelope said very clearly that Victoria shuddered a bit ,but at the end only scoffed and walked away.
