Synopsis
Is the universe real? Is the earth real? Is everything around us real? Are we... real? Are we... truly alive? Every evening, the setting sun will set in the west. Just as every morning, the rising sun will rise in the east. Time always flows towards the future minute by minute, and what we experience will always become history minute by minute. ... Whether we are willing or not, everything in life, on the earth, and in the universe will always evolve towards the future regularly. But is the future an unknown evolution or has it already been set? Are people or things just moving along the set path? Even, at the moment when the big bang of the universe started from a singularity 13.8 billion years ago, was its ending already doomed? ... Seeing is believing. Perhaps the so-called truth in front of us is just a pre-set truth! Every minute and every second may just be countless fixed time-space slices, just spliced together under the operation of a pre-set logic. We, every person, every thing, or perhaps just countless code fragments under this extremely complex grand logic...

Chapter 1 - Plane Crash

The passenger jet glided slowly through scattered white clouds in the clear sky.

Sizzle! Crackle!

A blue-white lightning bolt appeared out of thin air, as if someone had fiercely slashed the heavens!

Crash! Sizzle! Sizzle!

Where the lightning struck, a vast electrical grid instantly spread, and countless lightning bolts followed, pouring down like a torrential rain, enveloping the entire sky.

Where it covered, the blazing sun instantly turned into night, and several lightning bolts hit the airplane.

Bang!!

"Ah..." His head struck the headrest of his seat with a thud, and before he could utter a sound, Qin Ling felt a heavy punch on his chest, as if his chest cavity had been instantly emptied.

Before he could react, his internal organs felt like they were boiling, "Ah!!" With all his might, he finally screamed out, his heart feeling like it was being gripped by an invisible giant hand and pulled up to his throat, and his body almost flew out of the seat!

Chaos reigned within the cabin, with crying, shouting for help, and swearing echoing one after another. Numerous items flew chaotically, and even a few passengers were tossed around.

"...5208...4520...3652..." The altimeter was still functioning normally, with pale numbers indicating that death was stepping closer and closer!

"No! Don't!" Qin Ling couldn't care about the tearing headache anymore and shouted with all his strength, not knowing if his shouting made any difference.

...

Boom!!!

The passenger jet plunged almost vertically into a mountain at a high speed, with the metal fuselage rapidly compressing from the nose!

Within the cabin, both passengers and items flew and collided towards the tail section!

Boom!!!

A fierce heat flowed into the cabin along with dazzling red-yellow light.

Intense pain! Qin Ling couldn't tell if it was the tearing pain in his head or from all over his body. His last memory was of a fireball rushing towards him, accompanied by a transparent fluctuation that was indescribable.

...

"No! Don't!" Qin Ling screamed with a broken heart, and images emerged in his consciousness.

In the rainstorm, his mother was instantly consumed by a terrifying blue-white fireball, leaving no ashes behind.

In a hurricane, he and his childhood friend, covered in wounds, stood on a bloody, unknown beast, laughing as they drank its blood.

Under the setting sun, he hugged a tiny pink figure tightly, with falling leaves drifting by their sides.

...

"No! I'm not willing to!" The huge shout vibrated the space, and faintly emerging golden ripples also jumping vigorously.

An indescribable transparent fluctuation was also vibrating intensely.

Regardless of where he was or what was in front of him, Qin Ling's heart was filled with reluctance and resentment!

He reached out a hand, wanting to grab anything in front of him, "I don't want to die!" But he couldn't touch anything and could only shout in frustration!

His head felt like it was exploding, as if being dug into and torn apart by countless hands!

...

Flash!!!

An incredibly blinding whiteness filled his vision.

"Dear passengers, our flight will land in 40 minutes, and in-flight service will soon cease. Please fasten your seat belts, open your window shades, and upright your seat backs..."

A gentle announcement echoed in his ears, and Qin Ling rubbed his sleepy eyes, as if waking up from a dream.

"What dream was that?" He felt a bit dizzy and puzzled, with the hazy memories eluding him.

Opening the window shade on his right, he saw a few lazy white clouds floating outside the cabin, with the rest being a heart-wrenchingly blue sky.

The passenger jet descended slowly, and the ground became increasingly clear. Among lush mountains, a nearly dried-up river floated with scattered red and white debris, while scattered towns and villages were in ruins, occasionally emitting sparks and smoke.

This was Qin Ling's sixth time flying on a plane.

Since being admitted to Emperor City University in 2060, he had gained a privilege that ordinary people couldn't enjoy – a round-trip flight between Emperor City and Guang City every semester.

Nowadays, transportation between big cities was almost completely disrupted, and apart from planes, there were no other ways to travel. For ordinary people, taking a plane was only a dream.

Turbulence during descent caused the jet to bump gently, plunging him into memories.
