CHAPTER 5
THE SYMBOL OF DOOM
I tried to run, but my feet felt heavy. Sarah's smile grew wider as she reached out to grab me. But just as she was about to touch me, I woke up with a start. I was lying in my own bed, surrounded by the familiar walls of my bedroom.
I breathed a sigh of relief. It was just a dream, I told myself. But as I sat up and swung my legs over the side of the bed, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.
Just then, I heard a knock at the door. It was my friend Emily, come to visit me for the day.
"Hey, girl!" she said, bouncing into the room. "I brought coffee and pastries. What's going on with you?"
I hesitated, unsure of how to explain the strange dream I had just had. But before I could say anything, Emily's eyes landed on something behind me.
"What's going on with your wall?" she asked, her brow furrowed in concern.
I turned to see what she was looking at, and my heart skipped a beat. On the wall, in big, bold letters, was a symbol that looked eerily familiar. It was the same symbol I had seen in my dream.
I felt a chill run down my spine. What was going on? Was my dream trying to tell me something?
And then, just as I was starting to process what I was seeing, I heard a faint whispering in my ear.
"You'll never stop me," it said.
I spun around, but there was no one there. Emily looked at me in concern.
"What's wrong?" she asked.
I hesitated, unsure of how to explain what was happening. But before I could say anything, the lights in the room began to flicker. And then, everything went black.
When I came to, I was lying on the floor. Emily was kneeling next to me, looking worried.
"What happened?" I asked, trying to sit up.
"I don't know," Emily said. "You just fainted. I was so scared."
I rubbed my head, trying to remember what had happened. And then, I saw it. The symbol on the wall was still there, staring at me like a warning.
I felt a surge of fear. What was going on? Was my dream trying to tell me something?
And then, I heard the whispering again. "You'll never stop me," it said.
I knew then that I was in grave danger. My dream had come true, and now I was trapped in a living nightmare.
I looked at Emily, and she looked back at me with a concerned expression.
"What's going on?" she asked.
I took a deep breath, trying to explain. But before I could say anything, the doorbell rang.
It was the mailman, with a package for me. I took it from him, feeling a sense of trepidation.
As I opened the package, I saw that it was a book. The cover was old and worn, and the title was written in strange symbols.
I felt a chill run down my spine. What was this book? And why was it sent to me?
As I opened the book, I saw that the pages were blank. But then, as I turned the pages, words began to appear.
They were words of warning, telling me to stay away from Sarah and the symbol. But it was too late. I had already seen the symbol, and I had already heard the whispering.
I knew then that I was in grave danger. And I knew that I had to do something to stop Sarah and the entity.
But what could I do? I was just one person, and I was up against forces that I didn't understand.
As I sat there, feeling helpless and scared, I heard the whispering again. "You'll never stop me," it said.
And then, everything went black.
