POV(DAISY),
The car stopped in the middle of woods and zoomed off the moment I alighted without wasting a second. I had the urge to run back home the moment I spotted the house I was going to be working in.
I stood in front of the gigantic gate, "EDEN" was written bodly on the rusted sign description. my eyes almost spraining me. It felt familiar yet new.
I glanced at the contract file I had in my hand and sighed, it felt too unreal that the only job I could find was a babysitting job. It almost felt like I was dreaming but I pinched myself and I wasn't waking up.
I realized this was not a dream, reality came knocking. Nothing was as worrying as the location of the client's house, I expected something fancy since I was told that I would be working for a millionaire.
I had no idea the house would look a thousand years old, it would be a miracle if anything worked in this house. It looked haunted and I really can't imagine a kid living here.
I felt hesitant to enter the house but what choice do I have when I already signed the contract and Took an advance payment that is non refundable.
I hastily pressed the doorbell but there was no sound coming out of it, dust oozed out when I pressed it and I ended up sneezing so loud I knew I woke up the acnenstors.
I decided to knock the gate but I couldn't make any sound since it looked like the gate was made of raw iron. I bet anyone would hear me knocking.
Like I haven't had enough bad luck already, I searched for something huge so I could hit the gate and luckily I. Found one. I was about to hit the gate when the gate suddenly swung open.
Even though the gate was now open, the cobwebs seemed like they wouldn't let me in. I cleared the webs with a rig and entered, the gate shut close immediately and I could swear my heart almost fell out of my chest.
I took a deep breath and turned to the house, and behold the house. That looked like a witch's coven, maybe that would be better if there. Weren't cobwebs that seemed very unwelcoming and vines decorating the walls.
It was almost as if no one lived here and I can't imagine what someone living here would look like, standing there cluelessly. It felt like someone was watching me from somewhere but I couldn't figure out where.
I slowly approached the house and placed a gentle knock on the door, the door swung open itself like the gate did and I really thought everything here is being controlled by a remote.
The inside was very dark so I couldn't see anything, I brought out my phone and turned on the flashlight. I slowly pointed the flashlight inside the house and it landed on someone standing in the middle of the darkness.
I screamed and bats flew out of the house, each brushing my face as they flew away. I pointed the flashlight inside the house again and realized it was just a statue that had bats all over it.
I made a sigh of relief and coughed loudly, I took a look at the contract again and checked the address. It can't be the wrong address, but this looks like an abandoned building.
I decided not to go in and wait for someone to show up, I tried to call the company that got me the job but there was no network signal in the place.
I walked back to the gate searching for network and I still couldn't find any. "Miss Audrey?" I heard a woman's voice from behind and I turned abruptly with a sigh of relief.
The woman looked like she was in her mid 50s, grinning ear to ear, she had beautiful sets of teeth I could tell she's a nice person even from a far distance.
I stood in the middle of the living room staring at the woman making coffee at a corner, I took the time to take a look around the place and it looked nicer than I thought.
Everything In it was vintage and the size of the living room is 3x my whole house at home. It looked cool and beautiful if there weren't cobwebs covering everything.
"Miss Audrey?" The woman snapped me back to reality and handed me a cup of coffee. I took it immediately and took a long sip then sighed before looking back at her.
"You must be starving Miss." She said and I didn't know what reply to give since she was being so formal and respectful even when we just met.
"Not really and you can call me Daisy," I said sounding a bit informal but she didn't look disturbed, she seemed very calm.
"Alright then. Miss daisy, you will start work immediately but I need to warn you about some rules and regulations of working in Eden." She said and she looked serious but I just smiled.
"I already read the terms and conditions in the contract." I said but her lips curved into a plain expression with a stern look.
"Not those rules, the real rules of the Eden is different from the ones stated in the contract. There are just 9 rules and they go thus:
1: do not violate the rules of Eden.
2: do not in any form or way tell anyone about Eden.
3: do not go into the the Master room
4: do not go into the master's study unless he calls you
5: your job don't include removing the cobwebs..."
"What! They look scary!" I exclaimed unintentionally and she just smiled.
"So sorry, please continue."
"6: do not try to leave Eden unless you get permission from the master
7: you must make sure the young master goes to bed before you can go to bed.
8: obey whatever instructions the master gives to you.
rule number 9.... You'll find out for yourself." She said and they look almost normal if not removing cobwebs wasn't included.
"Okay ma'am, but where are the other maid that will join me in cleaning the house?" I asked and there was a strong silence.
"You will be doing the cleaning alone," she said and I gasped. No wonder the pay was huge.
"Just me? Is that even possible? And what if I violate just one of those rules? What would happen? You're not going to tell me to refund right?" I asked and the woman chuckled, more like a mocking laugh.
