Waiting in the lobby, Kai was scrolling through his phone, reading articles on 'Lagoon Enterprises'. The tech giant was making waves in the entertainment sector due to the latest VR technology. Their latest headsets were highly acclaimed and were nominated in millenium technology prize. It is the highest award one can recieve for technological innovations in the world . Even though they didn't win , it was mainly due to not having enough farspread applications and was mainly focused on the entertaintment industry. Among the common populance however the next generation immersion and tactile responses of the headset where grandly applauded. This listed LE( Lagoon enterprises) as the most successful company in the last decade by forbes.
'Guess it would make sense why they are willing to pay me millions to test their new product' Kai thought inwardly. He was online tech reviewer for many new tech and software programs, and had quite the following. Even though he was a nerd spending hours on manga and light novels, he was equally invested in the lastest tech innovations in science. This made him able to live a successful life due to his detailed reviews which he posts on his channel.
It wasn't the first time he has got offers from tech companies to promote their products. However most of the time it came with stipulations on what he can or cannot critique about so he usually denied them. "The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively." I think Bob Marly said that and Kai followed this as his creedo ...until now.
"Mr. Kai Please proceed to Hall B " a sweet voice echoed in his ears . Kai looked up from his phone, pushing his previous thoughts to the back of his mind . The owner of the voice was a young lady maybe around 25-30 years old but was beauty nonetheless. Standing up from his seat, Kai gave a quick nod to the woman and started walking down the hallway following the signs to his destination.
Upon reaching hall B he saw quite a bit of people walking around in white lab coats seeming busy. Just as he was about to stop one of them and enquire if he was at the right place. A well dressed man in a suit with a serious look on his face walked up to him.
"Mr. Kai Isagi ….. Nice to meet you"
After shaking the man's hand, ken was escorted to one of the offices in the hall. The well suited man introduced himself as Alex a spokesperson and executive for LE. After a few casual pleasantries, Alex pulled out a few forms from his desk.
"Mr Kai, I know you have'nt been informed on the details for the product you are reviewing. Before proceeding we would like for you to sign a few documents"
Alex pushed the documents towards Kai and waited as he read through them. The documents were basic Non-Disclosure Agreements that almost everyone signs when working with unreleased products.
Kai signed through the documents until he reached the final piece of paper which shocked him.
"Why is there an liability waiver form here?" Kai asked sharply
Alex sighed while fidling with his pen.taking back the signed forms he explained.
" Since the NDAs are signed let me explain. The product you will reviewing is a implant device currently called as a Brain integrated operating chip or just Bio-chip for short".
Kai was stunned. He was a pretty smart guy from the name alone he understood what the gist of this new product meant. If it is as he imagined it was a world class technology.
" As you can imagine it involves implant the chip at the back of the head close to the brain stem. It will basically upload the software right into a soecific part of the brain that we have discovered having a unique function" continued Alex
"What unique funtion?" Kai asked curiosly.
Alex smiled and explained " Well thats the thing it is just that this part of the brain is empty and i dont mean in a literal sense as in every signal that goes or comes to the brain seems to pass this section even though there are no connecting nuerons almost like a void that stands alone without affecting anything"
" The chip will be used to upload the bio chip software directly into this void. It will essentially make you a human computer."
Kai was really intrigued at this point. This was completly different from anything he was used in the past almost like a technological evolution. But some doubts still remained.
" Has this already been tested?" asked kai while he scrutunised Alex's face
Without a single change on his face Alex replied " All the tests that have been completed are on animals. You will be our first human test user"
' I almost sliped and said subject at the end' alex thought inwardly while sweat drops formed on his back.
Kai spent some time thinking realizing the millions offered where indeed to generous for a simple review. However after a few minutes he reached out and took the pen in Alex's hand and signed the final liability waiver and pushing the paper to Alex and said " Prepare the implant procedure"
Smiling alex to the final form while looking at kai "Follow me all the prep is already done".
