Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 : Growth and Parent reactions.

[Author notes : I made some change in his B level talents and into the system. Previously he would gain 1 point every day for a total of 500, and by the time he became a B type life form only 100 days would have passed.

I thought it was way too quick, so now you need 250 levels to go from F to E and for each subsequent life levels (e to D etc.). Apologies].

Michael continued to fight. Rabbits after rabbits. After a few hours, he only gained 1 level and depleted his stamina.

His gained in swordsmanship was significant, however. From beginner swordsmanship level 1 it has level up to level 3.

His stats had evolved

[Stats :

(Strength : 12.57) || (Constitution : 12.06)

(Speed : 8.46) || (Reaction : 8.67)

(Intelligence : 8.20) || (Wisdom : 8.12)]

[Skills : Dash(LVL 2), Power blow(LVL 2)]

Michael had put half his stats into strength and half into constitution. He was not satisfied with his gains, but it would have to do for now.

His blessing was after all related to growth, not combat power, and it would take some time to see the real benefits. By the time he chose to log off, it was already morning.

He had played 8 hours in the real world and 8 hours had passed in game. All players mostly played during the night in their sleep, and the time ratio was 1:1.

It's not that it was not possible to do more hours, but it would be detrimental to mental health and long term growth. He opened his capsule and got out.

When he got up, he noticed the state of his body. He had become significantly stronger and his muscles were more defined. 10 points in stats in the old world represented the limit of humanity.

Only Olympic athletes and elite fighters could get close to these limits.

Now he had casually surpassed this limit in one night, reaching 12 points in strength. That was the benefice of being an F-type life form, and it was just the beginning.

E class at level 1000, D class level 2000... an individual strength would become more and more terrifying.

A C class life form could destroy a planet if he exerts himself until exhaustion, and it is said that some B class life form could effortlessly destroy a planet the size of earth with one skill. He smiled at this.

It was just the beginning. He left his room and went down to get breakfast. His parents Rose and Laurent had already woken up. He ate some eggs and some bread, drank some milk and some green tea.

Listening to the news had become a routine to do with his parents. To his surprise, he learned that for the first time, a B level talent blessing had appeared among humans. The news made them overjoyed.

The war situation was always a concern for ordinary citizens and any good news would improve the moral. Their name, gender and other information were still classified for security reason.

"Humanity has a strong future" said Rose with a happy smile on her face.

"That goes without saying. The Xalarxes outed to be nervous by now." remarked Laurent with a proud expression.

Both parents were happy. Humanity had come from disastrous defeat after deafeat to stalemate. And their situation were improving more and more. They had inkling of surpassing them. They felt good being part of that.

Staying on topic, Rose Looked at Michael with an anxious expression. " How about you honey. Did you get a good blessing ?" she asked.

No matter what, she couldn't ease her anxiety at this. A good blessing could determine the direction of his development.

She had a hard time sleeping last night. Both parents had F-talent blessing and could only use the capsule occasionally. They had to rent it in a special center and Rose level was only 38 and Laurent 59.

Humanity had to focus their resources, and they couldn't give their capsules to everybody, as the number of capsules was limited. That was the fate of F-type talents. She didn't want the same fate for her children.

Michael could only use one because the City lent them to every school children, and because he was promising he wouldn't have to return it until he chose to further his studies.

"It doesn't matter if your talent is not good. Plenty of people live with F-class talent" she reassured.

"You don't have to put pressure on yourself. No matter your talent we will find some way" Laurent Added. Despite saying this their eyes were shifting. They had a hard time hiding the worries on their face.

"I have a C class talent" Michael answered with a smile. He had decided to tell the world that his talent would be at that level. No matter what, it couldn't be too low as he would need to get resources from the Empire, but it couldn't be too high either.

He had a good sense of self-preservation. Icarus flying too close to the sun had his wing burnt, and Bellerophon, a legendary Greek hero figure, was tragically struck down by Zeus for his arrogance. It wouldn't be too cautious to be careful.

That way, he wouldn't be targeted by the Xalarxes or hurt because of some of the powerful human's self-interest.

Michael's parents took a few seconds to react, thinking that they had mishearded. Then their face turned red, and their breathing slowed, asking him to repeat.

But no matter how many times they heard the answer, it was the same. C-class blessing generally meant you had the potential to become C rank. C-rank was the pinnacle of humanity.

Rose was in disbelief, while Laurent looked at his wife with suspicion. Was that really his son ? Was I betrayed by my wife?

As if feeling his gaze behind her back, she turned and glared back with violence, prompting him to shiver. How dare he question her loyalty.

Michael had inherited both his parent's beauty, not too handsome but still model worthy. Plus she had so much work to do raising the children, and her job as a secretary, when would she have time to cheat.

Laurent was stunned by the 6th sense of his wife.

But he still didn't forget to show an apologizing smile. Thinking about this, he made up his mind to make up to his wife. For now, he would have to sleep on his couch for some days...

Ignoring her idiotic husband, Rose proceeded in questioning Michael. "Is this real ? What is your talent, dear ? What type is it ?"

"My talent is Physical Strengthening, mom. I can obtain additional attributes after every level up. It is a talent focussed on growth" Michael replied with enthusiasm. He wanted to make them happy.

"Growth. That's good then. You have to focus on the game now. Growth type talent make you very weak at the start but have good long term potential."

Rose smile. Thinking of this a stern expression appeared on her face.

"Do not expose the fact that you have a growth type talent. Other than us, you should tell anybody else about this. Do you understand ?" she added.

"I understand" Michael replied with a calm expression. To not expose the fact that he had a growth type talent, he would have to focus on the game.

After a while his attribute would be so high he would just have to say that a talent give him a certain percentage in damage or something. It wasn't hard to do.

"You will become strong as long as you are diligent, and hard-working, but I want to tell you something important" Laurent added. "You can not forget where you came from. Don't look down on people who have lower talents than you."

Laurent looked at Michael with a stern expression on his face. "Remember son. No matter how strong you become, one of the greatest strength of humanity will always be cooperation. The most talent humans have never gone far alone.

You can look at any figure in history. Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb, would have never succeeded if he didn't have thousands of scientists behind him working with him in the desert".

He told him. He was proud of his son. But that didn't mean he would let him become a selfish individual and destroy himself.

Michael thought of the words of his father. "I understand" was his only reply. What his father didn't know was that he could upgrade his talents limitlessly.

Nevertheless, his word had great value. No matter what, he wouldn't be able to every single things alone, no matter how high his talent was. What's more, he had no wish to be alone. What was the point of getting invincible and letting every human besides him struggle or even die.

Why would he want to be alone in the universe ? That was not his goal. Strength would give him freedom, and he would use it to better the existence of those around him. Thinking of this, future plans started to take shape in his head.
