Augustus slid back, leaping into the air to dodge the arms sweeping across the ground as he furrowed his brows. He swung his blade in an arc at the arm that attacked him midair.
The collision sent a force rocking through his entire body, causing Augustus to cough up a mouthful of blood as his eyes widened. He was blasted back, flying like a ragged doll.
He crashed into a tree, bursting it to pieces, then slowly fell to his knees. The monsters charged towards him blindly, their leader following closely behind with its gleaming eyes.
'I underestimated how much corruption had built up over the centuries.' Augustus felt his brows twitch as he panted with his head low, struggling to hold his blade in his hands.
'Maybe I'm going to need help in dealing with these guys…' A chuckle escaped his lips, then it grew into a slow laugh as he grip on his blade suddenly tightened, his eyes opened.
