The next morning, I didn't know why I was waiting for Kane to come, I heard a knock on my door I went to check who knocked on my door Kane, I opened the door and it was Sayako.
She said what? Why are you looking here?
"Nope, I was waiting for someone else".

"I see not going to tell!" I nodded.
Anyways let's go to school said Sayoko, why you wanna go to school with me? she replied "Well we went to karaoke with everyone in front of everyone so we should. Why should we hide it? Either way, you come with Inoue-San so you have to go with me too."
And with that, we left for school and as I entered class everyone was staring at me, I didn't know what their problem was, and I went to my desk as usual, Haru said good morning and I replied to him the same, and looked at the desk beside me it seems like today Inoue was absent I mumbled to myself, sone afterward homeroom started and in a blink of an eye it was lunch break, as I was on my way to cafeteria I was stopped by Shibata, to give a recap he is a popular guy in my class

As I was about to enter, I noticed that someone was there already, I was thinking what should I do as I didn't know if it was some teacher or any staff member, and now I can't leave.
The person was looking down from the terrace, and I wasn't sure if I should approach them, I decided to let them be but as soon as I was about to sit the person, I looked back at them, it was Kane,
she asked "How did you come here? This place is forbidden you know?"
I replied, "Yeah, I know but there was no place to sit in the cafeteria that's why I came here." She said "I see,"
I asked "What about you? Weren't you absent today? So, what are doing at school?
She replied, "I had something to do that's why I didn't come to school, and then I had to talk with my grandfather that's why I came back!"
I said, "I see, I guess I should go now either way lunch break is about to be over."
She spoke nothing, she was just staring at the clouds this whole time with a blank look in her eyes, as I was about to leave, she ran towards me and hugged me from behind then asked me what would you do if you knew you were going to die soon?
I replied, "If knew I was about to die soon, I guess I would be happy knowing that my suffering would end soon. And I asked can you let me go now?
She said "Please stay like this for a while"
I said nothing because I could feel the tears on my shirt.
After a while, the bell rang and then She let go of me and said "I am sorry I took your time and made a mess on your shirt because of me you couldn't even eat your lunch, and what happened today can you please keep it a secret?"
I replied "It's fine either way, I was about to eat just a rice ball and yes, I will keep it a secret, leave about me what about you are you okay? You seemed like you were worried a lot and then you started crying and then that weird question"
"No, I am okay, I just had a lot going on lately, and I am sorry for taking a lot of your time, I know that that you don't like to give your time to others, and with that she bowed down and apologized.
"It's fine either if it's you I don't mind giving you, my time." I don't know why she blushed and she said I see so you can give me your time and started teasing me like she wasn't crying a movement ago. I guess she is okay now, and as we were talking it started raining and it got us wet, so I went to the infirmary to change and Kane came with me, the teacher gave us a big scolding saying it was forbidden to enter the terrace and gave us some spare clothes and with that she left. Kane said I am going to change so you better don't peek, okay? I replied Of course I won't, I am not a pervert."
With that, I turned around and she started changing her clothes, I asked her to tell me and she replied to ask me anything, and teased me by saying "Do you wanna ask me my bra size?" "Or what my type is?" Or "if I am a virgin?" but it, is not a gentlemanly thing to ask a woman this thing you know?" I said "I am not interested," she said, "Oh man I would have even told you this thing you know?" I asked, "Why did you ask me that weird question?"
Somehow, she became silent and replied "You see I have been diagnosed with cancer" I didn't know what to reply to her.
I said, "Please stop joking around Kane, this is not funny."
She replied, "I am not kidding, even I found out about it yesterday so even I am shocked now, not knowing what I should do about it."
I was out of words, and then she continued and told me that the doctor said "It's a second stage of cancer for now, we will observe and do treatment for now there is some chance of surviving. I didn't say anything because I was shocked to my ground, but then I just turned around and said one thing don't worry I am here for you.
But then just punched me in the face and said "Where are you looking? you pervert!" I quickly turned around but that glimpse that I saw was out of this world, I guess I am a pervert after all, she said "Now I can't get married you take responsibility, right?"
I replied "Huh it's your fault for changing in front of a guy of your age"
She said "This and that are different things"
I replied "Not my fault." She was annoyed.
But after calming down she said "Still thank you for saying that it made me kind of happy "
I replied "It's nothing don't mind it at all"
"Hey, Yuki Kun can I ask you something as well?" Said Kane
"Sure, ask?" She continued can you tell me what you meant back then when we met at my grandfather's office,
I replied "um-it's not something you shouldn't know, to be honest, and I don't know how will you react then and I am scared what will happen next.

She was too stunned to say anything, after that no one spoke anything, and I knew it became very awkward to say anything.
I started changing my clothes, and then Kane said "I know you just had a reason to do that right? Even If you can't say anything now don't worry, when you feel like just tell me that time, until then I will wait for you." I just stared at her and then out of nowhere, tears started falling out of my eyes, she looked towards me and said it must have been very hard to hold it until now, right? and started patting my head, it's alright now don't worry no matter what happens from now I will always be with you.
I just turned around and said, "I am sorry Kane you had seen that side of mine; please can you keep it a secret?" "A secret huh, it will come with a cost you know," said Kane in a teasing manner. And this time for the first time in 5 years I smiled in front of the people I didn't know that well, seeing my smile Kane looked kind of glad I guess, even though I had no words to explain what she felt. After that I went back to class, Haru asked "So where the hell have you since lunch break?" I replied, "I was in the infirmary because I got wet and had to change clothes, that's why I couldn't make it." "I see," said Haru and just like usual I went back home with Sayoko, today Haru couldn't come because he had some club paperwork to do. As we were walking Sayoko asked, "So where were you the whole time?" I told her the whole story of how I met her in the cafeteria and she couldn't spot me. Of course, didn't tell her about how I met Kane and what happened there. She said "Is that so? If you found me why you didn't call out for me?" I replied, "You were with friends that's why I didn't want to intercept you!" She pinched me in my guts and said "Idiot", and just like that she left before me angrily, I called out for her name, but she just ignored me and went home. That is how she has always been since childhood. And soon I reached my home.
I threw my bag on the floor, laid down on my bed, and started wondering what was going to happen next, a lot was going on, Kane got cancer and I told her about the sin I had committed, I couldn't grasp the situation around me for now I will just observe.
