Alissa's peaceful slumber was shattered by the jarring sound of her alarm. She sat up with a start, rubbed the sleep from her eyes, and reached for her phone. After a quick glance, she sprang out of bed, launching into her morning routine with a mix of sluggishness and urgency.
As she got ready for work, Alissa's thoughts remained foggy, but her actions were automatic. She showered, grabbed a slice of sandwich for breakfast, and slipped into a crop top and fitted jeans. With a final check of her appearance, she grabbed her bag and headed out the door.
The cafe's back entrance welcomed her with a familiar sign: "Employees Only." Alissa slipped inside, exchanging her casual attire for a work top emblazoned with "RINALE" and an apron. As she clocked in, she spotted her colleague, Bella.
"Hey, thanks for waking me up," Alissa said, her sarcasm tinged with affection.
Bella chuckled. "You're welcome, Alissa."
Their banter was interrupted by a mention of the enigmatic Krishen CO. Alissa's curiosity was piqued. "What about them?" she asked, her eyes narrowing.
Bella's expression turned incredulous. "You're kidding, right? The Krillians are legendary. Their name is synonymous with wealth and power."
Alissa shrugged, feigning nonchalance. "I guess I've been living under a rock."
Bella's laughter filled the air. "That's an understatement!"
"Bella, how do you always know the things I don't?" Alissa asked, curiosity etched on her face.
"Well, someone has to keep you informed, since you've been living under a rock," Bella teased, a sly grin spreading across her face.
Alissa playfully rolled her eyes. "Enough."
Bella chuckled. "Admit it, Alissa, you can't live without me."
"Good morning, Mr. Bolin." Alissa says in a pretended tone
Bella's eyes widened in shock, and Alissa burst into laughter.
Bella shot Alissa a mock-angry glance. "Fuck you, Alissa."
Alissa smirked. "You wish."
Their playful exchange was cut short by Mr. Borlin's disapproving tone. "Are you paid to chat with colleagues or attend to customers, Alissa?"
Alissa's smile faltered. "I didn't know speaking with colleagues wasn't allowed."
Mr. Bolin's expression turned stern. "You know now. Just focus on your work."
As Mr. Bolin walked away, Alissa whispered to Bella, "He's so annoying with his perverted nature."
Bella cautioned, "This job still sustains us. Be careful."
Alissa nodded, though her expression remained defiant.
Just then, Derrick called out, "Five, Alissa!"
Alissa grabbed the coffee and headed to table five. As she walked, she was suddenly bumped into by a tall, imposing figure.
Alissa's eyes met the stranger's, and she was left speechless.
