Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

Daniela's eyes locked onto Mr. Cruz's, a shiver running down her spine. She couldn't explain the strange sense of familiarity she felt around him. "What do you want from me, Mr. Cruz?" Daniela asked, trying to keep her voice steady. Mr. Cruz's smile sent a chill down her spine. "Oh, Daniela. You're so much more than just a pawn in my game. You're a key player." Daniela's mind reeled. What did Mr. Cruz mean? And why did she feel like she was missing crucial information? Suddenly, Mr. Cruz's eyes seemed to bore into her soul. "You don't remember, do you?" he whispered. Daniela's heart skipped a beat. Remember what? Mr. Cruz's smile grew wider. "We'll get to that soon enough. For now, let's just say... you and I have a history, Daniela." Daniela's world spun around her. What secrets was Mr. Cruz hiding? And what did he mean by "a history" ?As the sliding glass doors of the airport parted, a vision in crimson stepped into view. The lady's red dress hugged her curves, the fitted bodice accentuating her slender waist. The flowing skirt fell in soft folds around her legs, the hem whispering against the polished floor. With each step, she seemed to glide rather than walk, her heels clicking out a rhythmic beat on the marble tiles. Her dark hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall of night, and her eyes sparkled like diamonds in the fluorescent lighting. As she moved through the bustling terminal, heads turned, drawn by the magnetism of her presence. Her poise was effortless, her confidence palpable. She was a woman who knew her own worth, and she carried herself with the quiet assurance of one who expects the world to unfold at her feet. And yet, despite the aura of self-assurance that surrounded her, there was something enigmatic about her, something that hinted at secrets and mysteries hidden beneath the surface. As she vanished into the crowd, the impression lingered, leaving onlookers to wonder: who was this woman in red, and what was her story?

Standing tall in front of the airport building, she started gloriously at the atmosphere of New York City, she added, "it's been a while here", bringing out her phone from her Dior handbag she typed a message and before hitting the send button to the unsaved number, she muttered the word slowly 'I'm at the airport already, come pick me up'

After some minutes of waiting for her host, her eyes glanced at the yellow taxi that halted right in front of her. Just then, the windows leveled down slowly, revealing a lady sitting inside the car. She had her sunshades on, looking more serious than ever. She smiled at her. " Welcome back," the lady in the car said as the car kept on driving to their secret destination. The two ladies in the car even had a conversation.

"Now that you are back in town, how will you handle the current situation" the lady with sunglasses said, "well Emily, Diana's death only brings me more joy whenever I hear of it, and trust me I'm here for what's truly mine", the lady in red said, "but people will have rumors about your sudden visit, despite knowing you were Diana's biggest rival in the business field," Emily said, "And also people are investigating Diana's death head to head, so you have to be careful here" Emily added with a concern expression, " Emily, just watch and learn" she concluded as the car came to a halt at Cruz enterprises building.

The surroundings of the building weren't as hectic as from the start, being filled with police and army and yellow tapes around the building rather the building was a bit empty, with scanty workers around, she walked gracefully with all glory into the building with Emily behind her, all eyes were staring at the woman dressed in red as she headed for the elevator, after some seconds she emerged into CEO Dian Cruz office, with a smile on her face, she walked to the long black chair behind the wooden desk, she sat down and said, "oh, dear Diana, your demise was quite sudden, but I enjoyed witnessing it", she said before releasing a malicious laugh.

The air was thick with tension as they faced each other in the opulent office. "You and I, Daniela... we have a history," Mr. Cruz said, his voice low and mysterious. "One that goes far beyond this life." Daniela's heart skipped a beat. What did he mean? She didn't remember ever meeting him before. "What are you talking about?" Daniela asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Mr. Cruz's smile was enigmatic. "You don't remember, do you? The life we shared, the love we had... the tragedy that tore us apart?" Daniela's mind reeled. What was he saying? That they had a past life together? "I... I don't know what you're talking about," Daniela stammered. Mr. Cruz's eyes seemed to bore into her soul. "You will, Daniela. You will remember. And when you do, everything will change." "and how will you make me get my memory back" Daniela was curious, just then his words sounded heavy in her ears, "not today, not now, Daniela"

As Charles and Daniela went about their evening, their phones suddenly buzzed in unison. Charles pulled out his phone, his eyes scanning the message: "Look out for Scarlett Winters. She's just landed in town, and Diana's empire is in her crosshairs." Daniela's eyes widened as she read the identical message on her phone: "Scarlett Winters has arrived. Diana's rival is ready to play. "The messages were anonymous, but the implication was clear: a new player had entered the game, and the stakes had just gotten higher. Charles's eyes met Daniela's, a spark of intrigue igniting between them. "Who is Scarlett Winters?" Daniela asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Charles's jaw clenched. "I don't know, but we're about to find out."
