Chapter 1 - Fate

''Fate.'' A concept that seems so unbeknownst to us yet so alluring at the same time. Would you believe me if I said that it is all around us? Every connection you make starts with a simple action however losing a connection is also the same.

"A blessing or a curse?" A question I often asked myself despite never arriving at an answer. Whether a blessing or a curse, it all started with that tree.

"My child..." a comforting and gentle voice that whispered in my ear, flowing in like a lullaby, slowly putting me to sleep. "My child..." that same rang in my ear shattering the silence. I slowly opened my eyes but for some reason, it seemed that I was still asleep. My eyes widened upon seeing the breathtaking scene before me. The place standing right in front of me was foreign yet carried a sense of familiarity. "My child..." the voice grew louder and louder with every step I took, seemingly guiding me in this unknown place.

The voice guided me across every flower field, river, and even the clouds that were in this place. Every nook and cranny of this foreign place looked whimsical and ethereal. Before I knew it the journey seemed to have come to an end as the voice gradually grew softer and softer. Standing before my eyes stood a tree with every leaf and branch glowing white with subtle hints of iridescence. The tree in front of me could capture anyone's attention with its mesmerizing unreal beauty but the most ordinary of all stood out — the red strings.

Before I could react, my body was moving on its own, reaching for the singular black string hidden amidst the other red strings hanging from the tree, as if another being had taken control of me. "My child..." the voice that disappeared finally showed itself again. A sudden blinding light blossomed like flames engulfing the place.

My eyes shot open, pulling me away from the realm of dreams. I was no longer in that unfamiliar and ethereal place, but I seemed to have brought something along with me from my journey. It was tied to my pinky—the black string.
