Chereads / Draconic King of Shadows / Chapter 2 - The Violent Roommate

Chapter 2 - The Violent Roommate

Damion was forced back by a mini shockwave caused by the Shadow Pulse and glowing fist clashing, and he managed to remain on his feets.

He faintly glimpsed his roommate, Toby, showing a look of surprise on his face, before Damion's shadow bashed into him, and flung him to the floor.

Damion was shocked for a second, before anger took over his psyche and he saw red.

A primal growl escaped his mouth, and he took a step forward. However, he regained his senses a second later and carefully assessed the situation.

'I just subconsciously activated that skill without actually wanting to.' Damion thought. 'How did I do that?'

He looked towards Toby sprawled on the floor, and a dark glint flashed in his eyes.

"I have strength now, and no mere student would trample on me anymore."

[Dragon's Authority has been activated]

Damion took a step forward again, and an overwhelming aura began to pour out of his being, multiplying his presence manifold.

Toby, who was still shocked by what had just happened, rose to his feets, his eyes burning with rage.

"You lowlife! What did you do?!" He thundered.

Damion smirked, and he took another step forward confidently. "I awakened," he said. "Haven't you heard of late bloomers?"

Upon hearing those words, there was confusion on Toby's face, before he suddenly shrunk back in fear, not because of the words themselves, but because of the aura Damion was emanating.

[Dragon's Authority- Lvl 1]

[Skill Description: The Dragon is a Mythical and Legendary creature of unfathomable power, and any other creature with lower status must Kneel.

Debuff the physical stats of any being in a ten meter radius by 10%.

Pressure their mind with your Will and make them succumb to your Authority]

Damion smiled evilly as his purple eyes seemed to glow.

Toby felt an unknown fear creeping into him, and he further cowered back.

His back hit a wall and his eyes began to tear up when out of nowhere, his eyes turned sharp and he snapped back to reality.

[Dragon's Authority's effects have been negated]

[Skill on cooldown- 10 Minutes Left]

Damion was barely able to react to the sudden rebuff of his skill before he was sent flying back by a solid punch to his guts.

[-20 HP]

A message flashed in his eyes and he crashed into the door of his room, sliding down it like a ragdoll, his head spinning.

He had overestimated himself.

"I don't know what you did, but it won't work on me anymore," Toby declared with anger and derision laced in his words. "Late bloomer? Don't make me laugh. Just because you learnt a new trick, you think you've achieved something?"

"You'll forever remain a scum, trash and garbage. You'll never achieve anything in your worthless life!"

Damion struggled to fight the dizziness he felt, and he slowly stood back up, looking down at the floor with vacant eyes.

His gaze wandered to the system screen, and he paled when he saw that his only two skills were not made for attacking.

Shadow Pulse was clearly for defending, and Dragon's Authority, which was meant to intimidate an opponent, was overridden and was now useless.

It was unfortunate that he didn't have an attacking skill, and he had just wasted his MP.

"No, I still have my basic skills," Damion whispered to himself. "Though, I doubt they'll be of any help right now."

Damion sighed, "This is bad."

Toby Keith was Damion's first roommate. He had the ability to induce drowsiness through his attacks and make his opponents sloppy, and their efficiency to be reduced.

The only saving grace was that he had to be in contact with the person to induce the drowsiness, and couldn't fire out ranged attacks.

Knowing this, Damion knew what to expect and could react in time.

This ability had been used multiple times on him, so he had somewhat built a resistance to it. However, resistance wasn't the same as immunity. It still affected him, albeit not so much.

Toby's footsteps were heard coming close to Damion, and Damion pretended to be too weak to lift himself up.

As soon as Toby reached Damion though, and prepared for another attack, Damion shot up like a bullet, pulled his fist back and uppercutted him right in the jaw. .

The power behind the attack was so much that Toby was lifted off his feets, and crashed back down on the floor with a thud.

Damion, with all the pent up hatred and anger, rushed Toby like a bull and immediately began raining down punch after punch on him.

Toby fought back and pushed Damion, activating his ability and trying to make him fall asleep, still, Damion refused to give up and punched harder and faster.

The floor behind Toby's head cracked and dented, but Damion didn't stop. Even when Toby's face began to deform and bleed heavily, he didn't hesitate to pummel him more.

'All this year I've been waiting for this moment.' Damion thought, his blood boiling. 'You went as far as making me sleep outside in the cold corridor, taking my belongings that I managed to scavenge, and shaving my head off in the night when I slept.'

Damion put his anger behind his punch, and blew off Toby's teeth.

'You went as far as making me suffer in every class you found me in. I have lost a lot because of you all, and even if I have to kill you and then go to jail to stop this bullying, I would do it happily!'

With one last strike, Toby's skull fractured and his head cracked. The floor beneath him broke apart and his head was buried in it, his blood pouring into the ground.

[Level up!]

Damion remained sitting on Toby for a second before he stood up confidently, blood pouring down his fists and dropping to the ground slowly.

Damion, surprisingly, didn't feel any emotions when staring at the body. It was almost as if he didn't care if Toby lived or died. And truly, he didn't care. He had gone through hell in the hands of this person, and it was only natural to not feel pity for him, but the thing that marveled him was that he didn't even feel disgust.

"Dragon's Authority," he muttered. "I'm too arrogant to feel disgust for a vermin like this.

"I remember activating Shadow Pulse without actually wanting to when I entered the room, and that saved me from a sneak attack from him," Damion recollected. "I also subconsciously know the reason behind some things without having prior knowledge of them."

"It's all the work of the Blessing of Knowledge and Luck."

Damion stared at the system screen for a few more seconds, taking in its details and the numbers of his stats.

A smile slowly bloomed on his face, and it soon grew, transforming into a maniacal laughter.

He stared at his quest completion rate and laughed some more, clenching his fists tightly.

"Just you wait," he said coldly. "I'm coming for you all."
