I found myself still sitting in my mansion's office, the cigarette in my fingers burned down to the filter.

The acrid smoke hung heavy in the air, a noxious fog that seemed to mirror the tumultuous storm brewing inside me.

I took a deep breath, the smoke filling my lungs, the bitter taste of betrayal lingering on my tongue.

I rang the bell that sat on the corner of my desk.

It was an old thing, passed down from my father, its brass gleaming dully in the dim light. The sound echoed through the room, a sharp, clear note.

Moments later, the door cracked open, and the head maid, Mariana, slipped inside. She had been with the Castellanos family since I was a child, her eyes had seen more than most people could fathom.

Her face remained neutral, but I knew she could sense the tension in the air.

Mariana was a woman in her late forties, with skin the color of dark chocolate that had been weathered by years of hard work and a life of servitude.

Her black hair was pulled back into a tight bun, not a single strand out of place, and her uniform was as immaculate as the day it was tailored for her.

"Yes, sir?" she asked, her eyes meeting mine briefly before dropping to the floor.

"Send someone to check on Evangeline," I ordered, my voice low and tightly controlled. "Make sure she's presentable. I want her at the dining table at eight sharp."

Mariana's eyes flickered up at me, a hint of concern in their depths, but she said nothing.

She knew better than to question my orders. With a nod, she disappeared back through the door, her footsteps retreating down the hallway.

The clock on the mantel ticked away the minutes as I worked on some of the files, I thought back to the day Kevin, one of the men a farmer, who works for me to kidnap girls from his village to sell them to mafia gangs, from her village reported to me through my right hand man Chris, a girl from his village, with the audacity to snoop around where she didn't belong to.

A girl who had seen too much, a girl who had the misfortune of capturing my attention.

Her name was Evangeline, and the moment Kevin had presented her photo when I asked Chris my right hand man to tell Kevin send her details and photo, I had felt something stir within me.

Her beauty was unmistakable, mesmerising.

Her eyes, honey brown, held something that called to me, a challenge that I hadn't felt in a long time.

It enraged me that she had seen the darker side of my world she was a threat to ruin my illegal business and reputation, but it also excited me to hunt her.

I had given Kevin specific instructions through Chirs: bring her to me.

All I knew was that she was mine now, and I would have her.

I could feel the thrill of the hunt, breaking her spirit and making her understand her place in this twisted game of power.

Now, in the dimly lit office of my mansion, I sat behind the heavy oak desk I finished checking some of the files.

The files in front of me were a blur of numbers and names, but my thoughts turned to Isabella, the woman I loved so much had betrayed me with who? With my childhoodbest friend.

I trusted him so much. I didn't understand how did they had an affair right under my nose with so many guards in the mansion.

But, I have been in the mafia leader for a reason.

I won't stay at peace until I find both traitors.

With every page I flipped, the anger grew, a wild beast in my chest that threatened to break free I count each second to find some clue about her but not much was foun.

It's been 3 years since that betrayal. Antonio was cunning enough not to leave any clue of their whereabouts and how they left.

I mean come on!! no one suspected a thing about them having an affair as they knew, every single action in the mansion comes to me.

I knew Antonio used to come even when I wasn't at home to meet her but I trusted him. He was brother to me. So, I didn't mind.

He touched her. She let him touch her when she was my wife. That thought only makes me enraged.

My biggest mistake was trusting her and letting her go out whenever she wanted without my guards as she insisted saying they made her uncomfortable and snobby when she meets her friends.

How foolish of me!! I bought her words and let her do as she pleased and that's how she got pregnant with his child!!!!

But I will surely find them no matter what it takes.

I thought to myself as I flipped through the business files.
