While they were picking up vegetables evangeline felt as if someone just took her picture as she saw a flash of light and a noise like someone just clicked the camera to take photo.
Evangeline froze, her eyes widening as she heard a faint clicking sound and saw a brief flash of light.
Evangeline: "Mother, did you see that?"
Her mother turned to her daughter, who was picking brocoli a bit far away from her daughter and she said, "Hear what?"
Evangeline: "There was a flash of light. And a noise, like a camera."
Eliza raised an eyebrow, looking skeptical.
Eliza: "Are you sure you weren't just imagining things, dear?"
Evangeline shook her head.
Evangeline: "No, I'm sure I saw it. It was like someone was taking a photo."
Eliza shrugged, turning back to her vegetables.
Eliza: "Well, I didn't see or hear anything. Maybe it was just a trick of the light."
While evangeline trying to make her mother believe suddenly they hear some comottion and screams and tearful cries as if someone just passed away coming from her neighbours a bit away from their home.
Evangeline and Eliza's heads snapped up as they heard the commotion and screams from their neighbor's house.
Evangeline: "What was that?"
Eliza frowned, her expression turning concerned.
Eliza: "I'm not sure. Wait here, I'm going to go check and see if everything's alright."
But evangeline protested and followed the noise and going near the noises they saw many villagers gathering near a house and hurriedly went there and saw her grandmother was also there who arrived before them and saw the faces of villagers were all pale and sad and they looked at a naked dead body of a girl lying on the ground and everyone was surrounded by that body and her family was crying so hard.
Evangeline felt her heart sink as she approached the crowd of villagers who had gathered near her neighbor's house.
She saw the grief and shock on their faces, and heard the sound of anguish and mourning from the family of the dead girl.
As she reached the front of the crowd, she caught sight of the dead girl's body lying on the ground, covered only by a thin blanket. Her blonde hair was disheveled and her skin was unnaturally pale.
She knew her it's Malena, and tears welling up in her eyes realising this was the same girl that she saw in the forest last evening but she couldn't recognise the face. She heard some people saying girl had 13 bite marks on her body.
Dried Blood on her lips.
Dried tears on her cheeks. She couldn't look anymore.
As she turned away from the gruesome sight, her eyes met the cold, hard gaze of Kevin, the traitor of their village.
She could feel his glare burning into her, and she knew that he was involved in this tragedy.
Evangeline felt tears streaming down her face as her mother squeezed her hand, trying to comfort her. She watched the devastated family of Malena crying and wailing, and the frightened villagers trying to console them.
Evangeline knew who was behind this atrocity, but she also knew that she couldn't say anything. Her silence was the only way to keep her own family safe.
After this people were helping the family of Malena with her dead body to be taken for the process of burial and while everyone was leaving, Evangeline was still standing there she heard a malicious whisper from none other than Kevin.
Kevin sneered at Evangeline, his eyes cold and empty.
Kevin: "You better keep your mouth shut, unless you want to end up like Malena."
Evangeline felt a chill go down her spine as she heard his words.
Evangeline watched as Kevin walked away, his back turned towards her.
As he disappeared from sight, she felt a sense of despair and helplessness wash over her.
She knew that she could never reveal what she had seen in the forest the night before, no matter how much it pained her to keep the truth a secret.
The small church of the village was somber and cold, the walls decorated with religious iconography. The atmosphere was heavy with grief and terror, as the villagers huddled together in silence.
The priest stood at the front of the church, performing the burial rituals over the body of Malena as it lay in its wooden coffin.
His voice was solemn as he intoned the prayers, the sound of his words echoed by the sound of weeping and sniffling from the mourners.
The priest was a tall, gaunt man, his face etched with lines of age and grief. He wore a long black robe, adorned with the symbols of his faith, and a cross hung around his neck.
His hair was short and greying, and his eyes were weary but compassionate.
The priest's name was Father Thomas. He had been a holy man in the village for years, and was known for his kindness and compassion.
He had witnessed many tragedies in his life, but this one seemed to hit him particularly hard.
Eliza approached the mother of Malena, who was sitting alone in the corner of the church, her head buried in her hands.
She was a small, plain woman, her face ravaged by grief and sorrow. Her dress was simple, a black mourning dress that hung loosely on her slim frame.
Her shoulders were slumped and her eyes were red-rimmed from crying.
Eliza knelt down beside the mother of Malena, and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder.
Eliza: "I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine the pain you're feeling right now."
The mother looked up, her eyes filled with tears.
Mother of Malena: "Why? Why did this have to happen to my child? She was so young, so innocent. It's not fair."
The mother of Malena's face twisted in horror and pain as she imagined what horrors her daughter must have endured at the hands of the monsters.
She thought of the other girls who had gone missing in recent months, and wondered if they had suffered the same fate.
Her eyes filled with fresh tears and her body shuddered with grief.
She could not bear the thought of what her daughter had gone through in her last moments, and the not knowing was eating her alive.
Eliza wrapped her arms around the grieving mother, holding her close.
Eliza: "Hush, hush. It's alright, let it all out. I'm here for you. I know it's hard, I can't even imagine what you're going through right now. But you're not alone, I'm here with you."
The mother of Malena clutched at Eliza, her body shaking with sobs as she wept for her lost child.
Lots of love and hugs for you all. Thanks for reading.
