A man opens the door of a small apartment building, as he unlocks and opens the door, he exclaims out loud, "I'm so tired!" before yawning and taking his entrance into his apartment.
He moves sluggishly in movement, intending on heading into his bedroom of his small apartment. His black jacket and hat tattered and dirty with a sweaty white shirt underneath, his eyes clearly indicating a lack of sleep, with an exhaustive posture from his hardline of work.
Putting up his black rough hat flat on a desk across his bed, his name labeled," Nate Tian" across the rim. Ignoring his usual routine due to fatigue, opting to head straight on to bed face first, Nate lays and rolls over, sweaty and relieved. looking towards the ceiling of his bedroom in contempt of his dirty, unclean environment.
"What to do tomorrow..." Nate contemplates slowly.
Looking around for something to distract his mind of the future, Nate moves back to his desk and opens an article paper about the supernatural. Moving to opening a window, shining a brilliant ray of moonlight, the article's name is revealed. 'World-shocking equation on an alternative universal energy source". He sits back on a chair that is illuminated from the dark corner of his small, dirty apartment room.Â
Nate lays back on the hard wooden chair and reads details about a discovery based on new type of energy source.
"Mathematicians find an infinite energy source in our current physics of reality. A mysterious object with the potential to becoming infinite in energy. If harnessed, is capable to advancing our species to the galactic scale. It's unbound by OUR laws of physics, yet is bounded by a separate alternative universe that is believed to be bigger then our universe. More is yet to be explained, by a lack of evidence for something like this even existing."
"Yeah right, like such an object could be perceived by us."
As these questions race throughout Nate's being, a noticeable but small orb is seen appearing under Nate's hat, flashing sparks of radiant energy, before stopping temporarily. The object begins periodically flashes tiny sparks of small electrical surges, with each passing second, it generates larger, more concentrated sparks, which inevitably set ablaze the rough interior of Nate's hat into a fiery inferno.Â
"What the-" The light and smell of the burning hat quickly pulls the attention of Nate, illuminating the room in a bright orange glow. Then... It stops and slowly retracts back the very next second. The room reverts and returns to normal like nothing happened.
A ray of moonlight briefly shines across Nate's face and body, showing an expression of confusion with complete clarity. The moonlight moved to expose the numerous scars across his torso, arms and neck. Noticeably a large scar across his left eye. Nate noticeably is disturbed, and quickly checks his hat for any damage, putting his newspaper open on his desk, and letting the moonlight expose the bottom text, showing a symbol of a weirdly meshed hood. Lifting his hat, Nate finds the small glowing orb, about the size of cup, burning with intense arcs of electricity, but not enough to start that presumed fire again.
"What is this object? Why did it appear under my hat?" Nate thought while tapping his perfectly unscathed hat.
Putting down the hat, he starts looking at the object closer. Nate sees weird dark ethereal markings and endless blinding light flashing and appearing from a few of the markings in the orb.
Finding the object Seemingly harmless, despite the prior actions it caused, Nate picks up the orb, expecting something to happen.
...
Nothing happened.
"Maybe, I should just hand this thing into the authorities. It's something I can't control."
He places the orb inside and closes the drawer, along with his hat and returns to his cozy soft single bed, begining to fall asleep to his drearily thoughts.
I don't know if this thing I have is safe or not, it's best not to interact with it anymore.
Nate falls asleep comfortable, as he forgets about his thoughts and actions, the small glowing orb begins to act up again, spinning and flying inside the drawer with the hat levitating above it.
It begins to fly regardless of the hat's presence, robotically moving above the sleeping Nate. Suddenly, it vanishes into a pitch-black darkness and disappears above Nate. His hat falling on-top of his face and his body glowing in endless light before fading away and disappearing again.
Suddenly, he opens his dreary eyes, only to staring into a darkness like no other. His senses appear dull and split apart. His state of mind seemingly drowned in deep euphoria. His consciousness urges his mind to shake off the euphoric feeling of bliss, before waking himself up, only to find himself in the middle of a dark expanse, levitating like in deep space.
What... Is this? Have I passed on into the afterlife? Does it have something to do with the thing I have in my drawer?
He attempts to speak, then move, then feel then listen.
Nothing comes out of his empty vocals.
Nothing reacts to his attempts at freedom.
Nothing responds to his skin or body, or whatever is of it in such a weird state.
...
Nothing at all..
Until something is heard at last, a dreadfully horrific scream is heard from the darkness, then silence returns.
...
...
...
What do I do? I can't move, I can't yell for help, I can't even hear or see anything. I need to somehow get out of this state.
All of a sudden, from the corner of Nate's eye, a small sparking light appears. Growing in size, it sparks out huge white lightning arcs from 4 directions, forming a circular object that emits the same weird particles he saw from that peculiar orb with markings.
Nate manages to move in this instance, and undulled his senses. Seeing his skin has turned into a ghostly apperation. Ignoring it regardless, he moves away from the object, until it suddenly disappears, only leaving a cloaked figure where the sparks where. Dawned in light gray cloak, black and white hood holding another weird looking hood with circles at the edges.Â
"Who is that? And why does his hood look awfully familiar?" Nate thought before snapping back to his current predicament.
The weird entity looks around, unintentionally directly looking at Nate directly into his eyes. Nate panics, blocking his direct sight with his ghostly arms, then noticing the entity hasn't noticed him. Like a literal ghost.
It takes out a weird object, appearing to be a very roughed up book. It begins opening up the book; luminescent, sharp light starts confining a small part of the darkness It stands in, forming a kind of structure above the book. The light structure suddenly dissolves into the empty darkness and then the entity closes the book, seemingly ending the light show that just appeared. It then takes out something peculiarly familiar.
