"Mister Zeppeli, when did you say your fellow apprentices and master would be coming?" asked Jojo with a bit of hesitation as he looked at the exaggerated amount of zombies surrounding him, especially two that seemed to have an unbroken body, which gave him a strong sense of menace.
"I suppose using ambiguous words like 'soon' would be very careless of me, Jojo, but, soon," Zeppeli replied as he adjusted his hat, ready to fight.
It was a good idea of Selene not to bring Speedwagon, he couldn't imagine the juggling he and Jojo would have to do to protect a normal person in such a... complicated situation.
"Are we seriously going to let them get worn down by these things? I'd rather fight them all the way," a tall, muscular man with soft black hair asked another man who was even taller and more muscular than him.
"Hehe, still with that bullshit about being a gentleman? We shouldn't even be here! I don't know about you, I don't want to test if his skills are our antithesis, I didn't come back from hell just to cling to your stupid honor," the taller man named Tarkus replied fiercely.
Bruford, taunted by his companion, said nothing, but deep down he longed for a sincere fight against this 'Jojo' fellow, for he felt in him something he had not expected to find in this age, a true spirit of chivalry.
"Looks like we're on time!" a cheerful but worried voice echoed through the place, as Speedwagon appeared out of nowhere, followed by three men in traveling clothes, all of whom Zeppeli recognized.
"Look Jojo, this is my master Tonpetty and my companions Dire and Straizo," the man introduced himself after a sigh of relief, at least things will be more even now.
"Zeppeli... it seems that things have changed a lot, fate seems to have been twisted by something," Tonpetty said, looking at Selene and Dio, who had not yet started their fight.
"That's good, isn't it? At least we have the right to decide," Dire replied in a rather good mood.
He knew of his master's special abilities and how difficult it was for the man to live with the knowledge of the future tormenting him, unable to do anything. Only the mastery he had achieved with the Hamon had allowed him to keep his sanity, for his life experience could drive anyone crazy.
"Dire, the master doesn't mean that, but that something has drastically changed the future, wouldn't that be more dangerous than the Stone Mask and its byproducts?" as an accomplished Hamon Master, Straizo knows the history of the Mask and its meaning very well.
Of course, seeing Dio with such a high level of power made waves in his heart, and even caused him to have some inappropriate thoughts, but at that moment, he didn't even know if he could replicate it, because he didn't want to be at the mercy of those sleeping in the pillars.
The conversations were soon interrupted by the beginning of the confrontation between Selene and Dio. A shockwave erupted between them, clearing the air and lifting gravel from the ground.
A crimson crystal cross and what appeared to be an invisible being collided between Dio and Selene. Only Tonpetty, with her Hamon skill, could make out the translucent outline of this being.
"It seems that this vampire has awakened the power of his soul," said Tonpetty, recognizing the nature of Dio's power, a Stand.
He had seen a lot of this kind of power, it is even theorized that some prominent people in the history of the world have had this kind of power, such as Napoleon.
"But that girl seems to be handling it well, even though she doesn't look much different from that vampire," said Dire, noticing Selene's dark aura, but Jojo went on to explain.
"She's our ally, so you don't have to worry about her," Joestar's explanation cleared up that point, but it didn't take away the concern of the three men, but now the fight between Selene and Dio had nothing to do with them, since those zombies had finally decided to attack.
"I never expected to see this kind of power in you; it's different from what I know," Dio said, seeing how the woman had summoned a cross made of what seemed to be blood. However, he didn't feel the desire to absorb it; on the contrary, he felt a strange sensation.
It was as if he was seeing the essence of something superior to himself, he even felt that if he dared to ingest this thing, he would suffer terrible damage, so he concentrated more on the battle ahead of him, especially on controlling his new power.
He was a completely black humanoid figure with red eyes, he seemed to be dressed in robes that hid part of his body, but his exposed limbs showed that he must have quite a lot of muscles. He could barely stand two meters from Dio, so his strength was more than evident.
Selene had to back up a little when she felt the impact of the first blow from this mighty stallion, who undoubtedly had a power of A and unknown abilities other than possibly being able to predict the future.
She panicked a little, the stances of the great villains of this world seemed to have a penchant for messing with time or space, things of very high matter, so she wouldn't be surprised if Dio's stance had an ability related to that aspect.
But she wanted to test his abilities, so, using the oversized cross as an anchor, she unleashed for the first time what would come to be known as 'Nun Hell'.
"Disadvantage: Weakness", a pulse of red energy emerged from the cross and radiated throughout the area.
Dio and his zombies felt something strange, something 'pressuring' them, restricting their movements, speeding up their energy consumption, and causing them to tire even faster.
"What a disgusting ability," Dio said, commanding his stand to strike hard at the cross, wanting to destroy it, but his blows had become considerably weaker.
Still, he shook the cross with the brutality of his blows, the vampire wasn't going to give up just like that, so he simply continued to unleash fierce attacks towards the cross while preparing other backup actions.
Feeling that the situation was a bit more stable, Selene evaluated her previous attack, she had unleashed a large-scale curse using the crystal cross as an anchor, if she had focused on a single enemy, the effect would have been much better, but by scattering it, as well as a halo, although it took effect, it wasn't that incredible.
Likewise, weakening her enemies en masse was an incredible ability, and it had a high priority, as she was only using a few things she had dug up from her lineage.
'But this Dio is smarter and more cunning, I don't think he's limited to just punching like in Stardust Crusaders' Feeling that everything seemed easier, she used the cross as an anchor for another technique.
At the moment, she could only anchor three basic techniques to that cross, or a mid-level one, but since she didn't have any of those, she decided to go for the basic stuff, which was perfect for her to adapt to. Then Selene used her energy to create a mirage.
She didn't want to imitate complicated things, but if she created an illusion of herself, it would be a piece of cake, so she took advantage of the fact that Dio's senses were weakened and moved away from where she was.
Her illusion was only at the proficient level, so it barely served to cover her figure while her remnant acted as her, but it served her well, and just as she was considering whether to take the opportunity for a sneak attack, she saw a pink light shoot out of Dio's eyes and curve, dodging the cross and attacking her illusionary image.
'Clever fellow! But...' With much effort, the illusion acted as if it had been attacked, though there were many flaws such as the lack of sound, the blood stains on the floor, or the depth of the footprints, but it served to gain a moment before Dio noticed.
His right fist, covered in crimson crystals, suddenly appeared at Dio's side and struck straight at his cheek. Though the blow landed, the blonde took the opportunity to cling to Selene's arm, and they both looked at each other in silence.
"That... hurt." Selene's moonlight energy corroded Dio's cheek, but perhaps because of her dark nature, it didn't cause damage similar to Hamon's, which seemed to melt the flesh of evil creatures.
No, the damage seemed more like acid eating away at her skin, creating bloody blisters on her beautiful face. The corrosive power of Selene's energy was fully manifested at that moment.
Only by sheer will Dio didn't cry from the pain, even though it seemed like damage any vampire could heal from, the pain was unimaginable, he even felt numbness in his body, but we're talking about fucking Dio Brando, a guy who can pick his brain with his finger while laughing his ass off.
"That was the idea," Selene replied, though what Dio got in return was a kick to the stomach, sending her flying into a group of zombies who decided to take advantage of the opportunity.
Selene quickly removed the obstacles and her crimson cross flew towards her as if to defend her, but the black fist of Dio's stand reached her first. Even weak, the damage knocked the woman out of breath.
"This isn't how I wanted to have my first taste of fisting," the girl scoffed, placing the cross in front of her before holding it by the base and placing it on her shoulder.
The dark nun would no longer use spells, she would crush everything with brute force. Dio smiled as he saw the determination in the woman's eyes, this was what she wanted. If she wanted to fight fate... she had to play her role well!
"I'll show you the power I've gained," the blonde said suddenly, as if he didn't mind keeping such important information secret, he even raised his voice, like a narrator in a play.
"The World!" Dio shouted, and Selene felt an extreme sense of crisis. Her body tensed to the maximum, but contrary to what she expected, Dio's stand didn't suddenly appear in front of her or something like that.
No, but she wished it had been that not what she saw. It was then that she understood something, the name of Dio's stand was 'The Man Who Sold the World', and while usually the name didn't have much to do with the ability, in this case, the name alone made a lot of sense.
A deep darkness emanated from the stand, cracks in reality spreading throughout the place, shattering everything in its path, even Dio's zombies. This darkness eventually enveloped Dio and Selene, forming a dome that hollowed out the earth.
Soon the two were floating in what appeared to be the void of space. Stars were even visible in the distance, Selene could see part of the arm of the galaxy, and she even had the absurd sensation of hearing an unintelligible murmur in the background, someone crying.
"I have stolen a piece of the 'world' in which we live, creating my world, here I control time and space and from here I do not influence on... So, would you like to make a deal?" with a soft, enigmatic voice, Dio appeared just behind her, looking at her with a strange gleam in his eyes.
"You changed your job from demon to vampire?" sneered Selene, who jumped back like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, she felt nothing, and that was very dangerous.
However, in a world as 'small' as this, she felt that the cross in her hand seemed to have a special reaction, and as she thought about these changes, especially that scream, she decided to play along with Dio.
"You're not as innocent as you seem, you're an 'enemy' of the world too, aren't you? So why don't we get what we want from each other?" asked Dio carelessly, ignoring Selene's stalling tactics and teasing.
The worried expression on Selene's face vanished, the warmth, the excitement of the fight, her fear for her companions, everything. Only an exaggerated coldness remained, an inhuman cunning, and all her charm seemed to explode at that moment, becoming the brightest star in the void.
Selene in human skin was gone, now there was only her, Selene, the Lunar Sprout.
"I want to kill everyone here, and the Stone Mask, it benefits me, in return I can give you whatever you need, as long as I don't have to get directly involved," the evil in her words was not matched by the ease with which she discarded the bonds she had gained in this world.
But Selene only wanted one thing: to survive. As an inhuman creature, even if her soul had humanity, only the worst aspects of it remained... she was a monster that thrived in darkness.
"I want to transcend," Dio's words echoed in the void, the simple Selene hearing now clearly audible to both of them.
The world wept as a piece of flesh was torn from it.
