The road to the Silver Woods stretched ahead, cloaked in shadows and silence. The faint glow of the moon pierced the thick canopy above, casting fragmented patterns on the forest floor. Adira tightened her grip on the hilt of her blade as she and Kane moved swiftly but cautiously, their senses on high alert.
"It's too quiet," Kane murmured, his voice barely above a whisper.
Adira nodded, her eyes scanning the darkness. Every rustle of leaves and snap of a twig sent her nerves into overdrive. "Viktor wouldn't leave this place unguarded. He knows we're coming."
"Good," Kane said, a grim smile tugging at his lips. "Makes it easier to find him."
Adira shot him a sidelong glance. "You're disturbingly optimistic for someone walking into a death trap."
"I'm realistic," Kane countered. "And I know we don't have the luxury of hesitation."
