(SERAH'S LATE PARENTS HOME)

The following morning, Serah woke up early and began preparing for work. She deliberately didn't wake Israel up, so he could get ready for school. She did that because she was still angry with him for selling their late mother's necklace.

Meanwhile, as Serah was cautiously moving around the room, her movement caused Israel to wake up in his bed.

"Good morning, big Sis," Israel said while stretching and yawning.

But Serah didn't return his greeting. Instead, she stood in front of the mirror, applying her makeup and stretching out her eyelashes.

"I'm sorry, Big Sis," Israel apologized again a few moments later. "I know I messed up by selling the necklace, but I promise I will make it right."

Still, Serah didn't respond. She simply picked up her bag and dropped a five hundred note on the table. "That's for your breakfast, Israel," she said, dropping the money.

It was the only exchange she had with her brother before she left for the roadside restaurant, where she worked.

In spite of Sarah's anger, Israel was grateful that she still provided for him by dropping money for breakfast. As a matter of fact, she had been doing that every day since their parents passed away.

(BRIGHT FUTURE ACADEMY)

That same morning, Shola's mom dropped her off at Bright Future Academy, as usual. They exchanged brief pleasantries before her mom drove off to her place of work.

Meanwhile, Shola's mind was still preoccupied from the events of the previous day. Her attempt to end her life had been interrupted by her mother's presence, when she walked in to hand her a booklet from the Baptist Church conference.

But then, Shola hadn't given up on contemplating suī–cīde entirely. She just wanted to speak to Samuel again and see if they could figure out a way to handle the pregnancy together.

She couldn't bring herself to consider an ābō-rtion. She would rather end her own life and that of the fetus, instead of living with the guilt of tērmi_nāting a pregnancy.

If Shola was going to live, the baby would live too. But if she were to end her life, then they both (growing baby) wouldn't be alive anymore.

As these thoughts continued playing in her mind, Shola walked down the school corridor, hoping to find Samuel and discuss with him again. She turned a corner and saw him with his friends on the basketball court.

When Samuel and his friends spotted Shola approaching, they burst out laughing and began making fun of her.

This made Shola's heart sink, and she felt embarrassed. She couldn't even look at the guys in the face anymore, let alone tell Samuel she wanted to talk to him privately.

She quickly quickened her pace and rushed back to her class, realizing that Samuel must have told his friends about the pregnancy. It hurts Shola that Samuel wouldn't take responsibility for the pregnancy, yet he wouldn't keep it secret too."

Upon entering her classroom, Shola hurried to her seat and buried her face in her locker, with tears streaming down her cheeks.

(THE PLOT).

The reason for Shola's strange behavior wasn't known to any of her classmates. Just yesterday, she had almost injured Israel, an upcoming musician in their class, and this strange outburst had already led Nkechi and her friends to suspect that something was going on with Shola.

"Guys, didn't you notice that Shola has been acting strangely lately?" Nkechi, a classmate, said, turning to her friends. "She just comes into the classroom these days and keeps her head down all day, only raising it whenever a teacher walks into the classroom."

"I noticed that too," Amaka replied. "Maybe she is having issues with Samuel, her boyfriend. She wouldn't let that handsome guy look at other girls in this school."

"Wow! It would be great if she is having problems with Samuel," Nkechi said. "That would give me a chance to infiltrate their relationship and win Samuel for myself."

"Shola thinks she is all beautiful and religious," Ajoke chimed in. "But she doesn't deserve Samuel like you do, Nkechi. Considering your father's status and that of Samuel's parents, a combination of you and Samuel would be a perfect match."

"So, guys, do we still need to get Shola out of the way then?" Nkechi asked, lowering her voice.

"Absolutely," Amaka replied. "As long as Shola is still in the picture, Samuel won't look at you or any other girl in this school. We have to eliminate her from the equation."

The girls leaned in together and devised a cunning plan. They found it quite satisfying and hoped they wouldn't get caught while executing it.

So, Nkechi and her friend sat patiently in their seats, waiting for the moment when Shola would walk out to the restroom or step away for a bit.

(THE PLANNED SÙI-CÏDĒ).

Meanwhile , as Shola continued struggling to keep her emotions in check, she finally arrived at a drastic solution.

She pulled out a container of pills she brought from home and headed towards the female restroom.

She wouldn't wait until Samuel announced her pregnancy to the whole school, she wouldn't wait until they all turned her into a laughing stock without doing anything.

When she arrived at the restroom, Shola slowly poured the ōvēr-dose pi!ls of capsules into her hand. She began trembling as she stared at herself in the restroom mirror for the last time.

The thought of her Christian family crossed her mind. She felt the weight of the religious standards her church and parents placed on her, and she felt sad that she had disappointed them all.

It was going to be her last moment on earth, and tears streamed down her face as she stared at the dō

With a deep breath, She tossed all the pills in her hand into her mouth. Then she unscrewed the water bottle she had carried along and drank from it to wash down the bitter taste of the drug into her belly.

For a moment, Shola regretted her actions and wished she could reverse them, but the regret she felt couldn't compare to the shocking look that would appear on her religious father's face if he found out about the pregnancy.

She knew her father would disown her, just as he had with her older brother. Her father never wanted anything that would taint his position as a church leader, and he wouldn't hesitate to disown any of his children if they brought shame to his ministry.

After swallowing the entire dose, Shola tossed the empty container away and adjusted her school uniform. She quickly exited the restroom, and her vision began to blur on her way back to class. Walking back to her classroom was quite difficult, since the aftereffects of the pi!ls were already kicking in.

(THE UNPLANNED SÙI-CÏDĒ).

Meanwhile, as Shola was in the restroom struggling with her emotions and finalizing the suicide, Nkechi and her group of friends were quietly executing another one for her too without alerting their fellow classmates.

"Ajoke, here's the substance," Nkechi said, handing it over. "It's odorless and colorless, but it is very toxic according to the seller. Make sure to spread it on Shola's locker without drawing any attention to yourself."

Ajoke did exactly what she was told. She approached Shola's seat, pretending to pick up a pen that had fallen under the locker. Carefully, she spread the toxic substance on Shola's desk and it seeped into the wooden locker and became undetectable to the naked eye. Just inhaling the substance alone would be enough to end Shola's life.

There was almost a close call; As Shola nearly ran into Ajoke while she was carrying out the act on her seat. She entered the classroom, feeling dizzy and disoriented already from the ōvēr-+dose pills she took.

Shola steadied herself by grasping onto the lockers of her mates for support, as she made her way to her seat.

"Shola, are you okay?" Israel the musician asked her, after noticing the way she was walking as if she might fall.

But Shola didn't respond; her life was slipping away gradually at the moment. She finally reached her locker and buried her face in it as usual, unknowingly inhaling the toxic substance that Ajoke and her friends had planted for her.

Ajoke and her friends sighed in relief, pleased that Shola had fallen into their trap. They were convinced that Nkechi would finally have Samuel's attention to herself.

Only a few moments had passed with Shola's face still buried in her locker. She began to feel intense dizziness from the effects of the toxic substance spread on her desk, and from the pil!s she had already taken. Her breathing slowed, and she collapsed sideways onto the floor of her classroom, lifeless!
