The golden light enveloped the room, but it didn't last long. After a few breaths, it quickly contracted, coalescing into a golden figure in front of Yi Bai. This was the first time Jiang Xiaoci had witnessed such a spectacle. Her curious gaze swept over the scene.
Moments later, the golden light dissipated completely, and standing before Yi Bai was a middle-aged man dressed in a white lab coat, with gold-rimmed glasses perched on his nose.
[Congratulations! You have successfully recruited a B-level talent – Chen Qiuren.]
B-level talent!
Lin Yue's luck was truly explosive!
"Boss, greetings."
The man bowed respectfully, his demeanor polite and formal. "My name is Chen Qiuren, and I am your personal doctor."
His appearance was cold and composed, a faint smile playing at the corners of his mouth, but his eyes betrayed a disturbing madness and indifference. Unlike other doctors who exuded warmth and reassurance, Chen Qiuren emanated a chilling, dangerous aura, causing Lin Yue to instinctively tighten, her eyes fixed on this threatening individual.
"Personal doctor?"
Jiang Xiaoci studied Chen Qiuren with newfound interest, sensing a familiar vibe in him.
"Yes," Chen Qiuren answered smoothly, his tone calm and courteous.
Meanwhile, Yi Bai discreetly opened Chen Qiuren's profile data and took a quick glance.

Yi Bai sucked in a sharp breath. A mad doctor?
A genius doctor with the mental instability of a former assassin... well, his talent profile certainly was colorful. His stats were impressive, especially with two stats over 200. His expertise was unmistakable.
"You're good at killing?" Yi Bai asked, studying Chen Qiuren with a lingering curiosity. "I mean, not direct combat, but using... unconventional methods."
"Yes, boss."
Chen Qiuren bowed slightly, his politeness never faltering. "If this is my next task, I can provide over three hundred methods of non-combat assassination."
"If the target is in this room..." He glanced briefly at Jiang Xiaoci and Lin Yue, smiling slightly. "I could kill them right now."
"What?!"
Lin Yue instinctively grabbed her handgun, flipping off the safety with a swift motion. Jiang Xiaoci's smile slowly faded as she narrowed her eyes, studying Chen Qiuren.
"We're all on the same side, don't do anything rash." Yi Bai quickly intervened, his voice calm but firm. He turned to Chen Qiuren. "A doctor who can kill... that's almost too fitting for the profession. Looks like medical duties around the shelter will be yours from now on."
"Ah, so you're an ally," Chen Qiuren mused, smiling as he crouched by the desk, pouring tea for the two women. "I apologize for earlier. I hope you don't mind."
"It's fine," Lin Yue lowered her gun but didn't take the tea. Neither did Jiang Xiaoci.
"Please continue," Yi Bai said with a chuckle. "He's just arrived, and things got a little misunderstood. A cup of tea is a gesture of respect."
"It's not respect."
Chen Qiuren paused, lowering his voice. "This tea contains the antidote. I poisoned it just now."
"What?!"
Yi Bai blinked in disbelief, staring at Chen Qiuren, who placed the tea cup down, looking slightly innocent. From his waist, he pulled out a small spray bottle.
"This is my homemade neurotoxin. It causes numbness and dizziness, and it can be fatal for those allergic to certain compounds." He raised an eyebrow. "But no worries. The antidote in these cups will neutralize the effect."
Yi Bai froze. He hadn't noticed any obvious weaponry on Chen Qiuren when he arrived. Even D-level talents usually had guns. A B-level talent, though, would be carrying something more... sophisticated.
"So, you brought poison?" Yi Bai asked, exhaling sharply.
"Lin Yue! Xiaoci! Drink up!" Yi Bai barked, watching them as they hastily downed their cups. Only then did he return his attention to Chen Qiuren. "Don't use these methods on our people again."
"I didn't know," Chen Qiuren shrugged, looking sheepish. "Now I understand, boss. Don't worry, I won't harm them."
"I'll stick to basic professional ethics. I won't do anything to trouble you."
"Of course, if you could assign me a different job, I'd be more motivated in my work."
Yi Bai furrowed his brow. "What do you mean by a different job?"
"Boss, you mentioned I'd be in charge of medical duties here... Do you want me to be a public doctor?"
Chen Qiuren shrugged, feigning regret. "Honestly, I'm not fond of treating patients. What I enjoy more is... research."
"What kind of research?"
"Human dissection."
"No!"
Yi Bai immediately shot him down. "Don't even think about doing anything to my people! Just stick to your role as a doctor. If anyone gets sick or injured, you're responsible!"
"If you fail to cure them, that's on you!"
"Fine, boss." Chen Qiuren's face showed clear disappointment, but he complied. "As you wish. I'll be a doctor, a healer."
Yi Bai noticed the struggle in his expression but didn't waver.
First, the shelter was growing, and a proper medical system was becoming necessary. Second, Yi Bai knew that Chen Qiuren's temperament needed some controlling.
"Xiaoci, take him downstairs." Yi Bai ordered. "Pick a room for his clinic. Lin Yue, later you can find some medical equipment for him."
"Yes, sir."
Jiang Xiaoci nodded gently. "I'll arrange it."
"Alright, everyone else can go. It's getting late, and we should all rest."
Yi Bai glanced at his watch—it was well past midnight. The day had been full of action, even though he'd spent most of it at home.
"Understood!"
Lin Yue saluted and left. Chen Qiuren followed Jiang Xiaoci, obediently trailing behind as they exited.
Yi Bai turned to the remaining items on the table. "Only I can use the last two."
He chuckled, thinking of the poor guy who had unwittingly made all this possible for him.
"Let's try this [Talent Enhancement Voucher] first."
Yi Bai picked up the golden voucher, holding it in his hand as he silently chose to use it.
As the golden voucher exploded, a blinding light enveloped Yi Bai's body.
New data notifications appeared before his eyes.
