The classroom was in its usual state of chaos as we rushed to complete the math assignment our teacher, Mrs. Johnson, had given us. The sound of scribbling pencils, rustling papers, and muted chatter filled the air.
But my mind was elsewhere, lost in thought as I stared out the window at the grey, overcast sky. For the past couple of days, I'd been having this recurring, apocalyptic dream that was haunting me. It was vivid and unsettling, with an eerie feeling that lingered long after I woke up.
Just then, a classmate screamed my name from across the room, breaking the spell. "Donnie, what's on your mind?" It was Eliot, my friend since we were toddlers. We'd been in the same school for years, and I knew he wouldn't let up until I responded.
I turned to face him, and our eyes met. Eliot's expression was a mix of concern and curiosity.
As I shared my concerns with Eliot, the sky outside suddenly turned blood red. It was a surreal, chaotic scene, like nothing I'd ever seen before.
The air was electric with an otherworldly energy, punctuated by flashes of black lightning that seemed to split the sky apart. I found myself mesmerized, even smiling uncontrollably, as if I was trapped in a dream.
Eliot's eyes widened in shock, and he grabbed my arm, pulling me back to reality.
Then, a voice boomed from the chaos, echoing in my mind. It was low, rumbling, and ancient, like thunder on a summer day.
"It's been over a dozen millennia since I last spoke," it said. "The human race has come far, but the physical plane is in danger. Creatures of darkness are seeping in, taking physical form, and intent on raising the abyss once more."
The voice fell silent, and the light vanished, plunging the classroom into darkness.
The classroom erupted into chaos, with students screaming and crying. Desks scraped against the floor, and chairs toppled over as people scrambled to get away from the windows.
Then, a thunderclap shook the room, and a massive creature emerged from the shadows. It was a demon, its body covered in eyes that glowed like embers, and it was enormous – as big as the school itself.
Pandemonium broke out as the demon attacked, destroying the classroom and sending students running for their lives.
I saw Eliot trying to save Gift, who was glowing with an otherworldly energy. Without thinking, I rushed to help them, and together we managed to escape the building.
Outside, the scene was apocalyptic. Demons roamed the streets, leaving destruction and death in their wake. Buildings were reduced to rubble, and cars were overturned, their alarms blaring in the distance.
Gift turned to us, her eyes wide with shock. "This is the end of days," she whispered, her voice trembling with fear.
As we stood there, frozen in horror, the demon we had escaped from emerged from the school building, its eyes fixed on us.
We knew we had to keep moving, to find a way to survive in this new, hellish world. But for now, we just stood there, paralyzed by fear, as the demon took its first step towards us.
