*3rd POV
"Mom… We're home… hufftt," Mary's voice called out as she and George entered the house, but no one was there. "Where is everyone?" Mary asked George, of course, he didn't know. "...How about we check the backyard?"
They both headed to the backyard and saw the entire family playing cards together—well, plus one unfamiliar person. "Mom!" Mary shouted, catching everyone's attention.
"Oh, welcome home," Connie said, placing her cards on the table. "I win… again, Moonpie!" she said with a smirk.
As Connie reached for the coins on the table, Georgie's hand blocked her. "Hold on a minute…" Georgie laid his cards down, revealing a royal flush with a mischievous smile on his face. "…Girls, take the money," he said, nodding at Missy, who looked thrilled at the sight of the coins on the table. "We're rich!" Missy exclaimed, while Veronica just sighed.
"Tch," Connie clicked her tongue, realizing her last coin had been taken. "How do you keep winning every time?" Sheldon asked, staring at Georgie, who casually had his feet up on the table.
George, noticing Georgie's behavior, slapped the back of his head. "Put your shoes on the ground!" he ordered, forcing Georgie to lower his feet. "Tch," Georgie clicked his tongue again and complied.
"Poker face," Georgie said to Sheldon. "Your face is too easy to read, Sheldon."
"So you guys lied to me!" Sheldon exclaimed, looking at Memaw and Georgie with a shocked expression.
"Well, the world isn't all about honesty and fairytales, Moonpie." Connie remarked but quickly stopped when Mary gave her a disapproving glare.
"...It's late. Let's go, kids" George said, sensing tension brewing. Both he and Mary were too exhausted from earlier events and the pressure from the agent. All they wanted now was to collapse into bed.
Georgie ushered Sheldon and Missy to their rooms, despite some protest from Missy. Eventually, they listened to George.
"Who's this?" Mary asked, sitting down with Connie and glancing at the unfamiliar young woman sitting next to Georgie.
"I'm Veronica," she said with a smile.
"She's a friend from school. We met at the store while grocery shopping," Georgie explained to Mary.
"Oh… Wait, what?" Mary asked, confused. She glanced at Connie. "Oh, Mom… You cooked dinner for them?" she said, shocked that Connie would go out of her way to prepare a meal for them. Mary couldn't believe it since it was already late when she left.
"Don't look at me like that. Georgie's the chef, not me" Connie shrugged and took a sip of her beer.
"WHAT?" Mary stared at Connie and then at Georgie.
"Your mom is feisty," Veronica whispered to Georgie with a small smile. "Yeah…" he replied.

*Georgie POV
Sheldon and Missy went to church with Mary. I didn't go with them, and of course, I know what day this is and what happens today.
Even though I know he'll be okay, it still makes me a little anxious.
'Will it be the same as in the series? Will my actions change anything? Or will I make things worse?!' These thoughts were swimming in my head.
"...What?" George asked, feeling uneasy under my gaze. He was still holding his beer, watching TV from his usual spot. "...Why are you looking at me like that?" he asked again, trying to hide the beer in his hand.
"You promised to exercise with me…" I said, still staring at him with irritation. "You need to lose some weight!" I added, annoyed.
"...," George wanted to say something, but the sound of the doorbell saved him. He got up from his seat and walked to the door.
"....." Screw that. I don't want to see him suffer like that. "Dad! Let's go!" I said, following him and spotting Billy Sparks at the door.
"Hey, Billy," I greeted.
"Hey, Georgie," Billy replied with his usual innocent smile. "Is Missy home?"
"...What do you want with my sweet little candy?" I said, squinting at him.
"Uh… Hmm… Nothing. I just brought some eggs from my chickens…" he said nervously. Of course, I didn't actually intend to scare him. "Thanks," I said, quickly taking the eggs from him.
George watched my antics and sighed. "Thanks, Billy," he said before turning to me. "What do you want to do?"
I placed the eggs on the table and looked at George. "Let's go. We're going to the park."
Billy perked up at my words, quickly shaking off his fear. "Can I come?" he asked, his face full of hope.
I patted his head. Well, I don't hate Billy—except for how he's always chasing after Missy. He's the definition of pure and a bit dim. A special case like Sheldon and Missy, but I don't mind that. I still love them both.
I won't judge Billy, Sheldon, or anyone else like them.
"Sure, let's go," I said, taking them both along.
"...We're taking the car, right?" George asked, but I ignored him and walked ahead with Billy, chatting along the way.

*3rd POV
"Billy, where's your sister? I haven't seen her today" Georgie asked, watching Billy walking with a cheerful grin on his face.
"I don't know" Billy answered briefly.
"How's school, Billy?" Georgie asked again, glancing back at George, who was following behind. "Come on, Dad."
Billy thought for a moment, as if the circuits in his brain couldn't find an answer. "I don't know," he replied.
"Georgie, why aren't we taking the car?!" George complained, his breathing labored. They had been walking for a while and were nearing the park. Well… it wasn't actually that far from the house, but to George, it felt like they had walked miles.
"Are you giving up already?" Georgie teased, seeing his dad panting. "…" George said nothing and continued trudging along, with his heavy steps. Georgie smiled at the sight and went back to chatting with Billy.
When they arrived at the park, Georgie saw Billy's younger sister, Bobbi Sparks, bothering another kid. She was stuffing sand into the child's pants while giggling, her mischievous smile making the kid cry.
"Bobbi!" Billy called out to his sister, smiling as if he had no idea what she was doing—or maybe he thought Bobbi was just playing with the kid.
Bobbi, hearing her name, looked over and saw Billy with Georgie and George. "Georgie!" she called, ignoring Billy entirely.
Bobbi ran towards them, not stopping as she approached. Georgie extended his arms to catch her. "Hey, careful, sweetie. You might hurt yourself" Georgie said, holding Bobbi, who giggled in his embrace.
"Hehe, what are you doing here?" she asked Georgie, then glanced at Billy standing beside him. George had already found a bench and collapsed onto it, lying down immediately to rest after the 'exhausting' walk.
"You see that giant whale over there? I brought him here so he could exercise," Georgie replied, patting Bobbi's head. "What about you? … Did you make another kid cry again, Bobbi?" he sighed.
"…I was just playing… Let's go, Billy!" Bobbi grabbed Billy's hand and ran off. Georgie sighed again, watching them play.
"...zzz... krr... snooore…" George snored loudly next to Georgie, fast asleep.
"Huh…" Georgie sighed at the sight but decided not to wake him, letting George rest.
Georgie kept an eye on Bobbi and Billy for a while, taking over George's job of supervising them. Then, he heard someone calling his name. "Georgie!" He turned to see the source.
"Hey, my sweet candy, what are you doing here?" Missy ran towards Georgie and hugged him, her voice waking George.
"Ugh, wha-?" George groaned, waking up and seeing Missy in Georgie's arms. "Thank God! Mary, you've saved my life!" George turned to see Mary and Sheldon getting out of their car.
"Yeah, and me too," Connie chimed in as she stepped out of the car and walked toward Georgie and Missy. "What are y'all doing here?" she asked, noticing Bobbi and Billy playing nearby.
Sheldon froze at the sight of Bobbi, fear flashing across his face. He ran to Georgie and clung to him.
"Georgie, what is she doing here?!" Sheldon shouted, glaring at Bobbi, who was still with Billy.
Bobbi and Billy noticed the Cooper family had arrived. They walked over, and Billy greeted them cheerfully, "Hi, Sheldon. Hi, Grandma Cooper. Hi, Mrs. Cooper. Hi, Missy."
Bobbi, however, locked eyes with Missy, who stood near Georgie. Their gazes clashed like a silent battle. Bobbi walked closer to Georgie, shoving Sheldon aside without a care and grabbing Georgie's arm.
"Hey!" Sheldon cried out dramatically. Well, he didn't fall or anything—the size difference between them made it just a light push.
"Missy…" Bobbi gave Missy a sting eye.
"Bobbi…" Missy greeted back.
"...What are you two doing? You're supposed to be friends" Georgie sighed.
Alright… Georgie has a knack for making kids like him. They love being around him, which is why Missy quickly warmed up to him. Sheldon feels the same way about Georgie. As for Bobbi, Georgie knows she bullies Sheldon relentlessly, to the point that Sheldon fears her. So, Georgie befriended Bobbi and asked her to stop bothering Sheldon.
Well… It didn't work. That kid is a born bully! I just hope she doesn't go too far.
"..." The two ignored Georgie, still glaring at each other. Georgie sighed again. "Alright… Let's play together…"
"Hehe… Poor Georgie, stuck between those two girls" Connie chuckled, amused by his predicament.
"Kids, not girls!" Mary corrected her, shooting Connie an annoyed look.
"..." George watched Georgie walk off with Missy and Bobbi to play, then turned to Mary and Sheldon. "...Let's go," he whispered.
"Why are you whispering?" Sheldon asked, not understanding why George was being so quiet.
"…do you want to go home on foot?! … Don't talk, just leave them…" George replied, glancing at Mary.
Mary, irritated by George's behavior, was about to say something, but Georgie's voice interrupted. "DAD… YOU'RE GOING HOME WITH ME… WALKING!"
"Let's go, Mary!" George grabbed the car keys and hurried Mary and Sheldon into the car, leaving the park and the kids with Connie.
"Mom! Take care of them!" Mary called out to Connie, who sighed.
"Huh… Alright, alright…" Connie muttered.
"Ahhh, he escaped!" Georgie grumbled, watching them leave in the car. Still, he didn't chase George down to drag him home on foot.
"So… Who wants ice cream?" Connie asked, catching everyone's attention.

Yo! Just a quick note, and I'd like to ask for some advice from all of you Americans. I know country songs are often about beer, honky tonks, and the like. But is it appropriate for a 14- or 15-year-old in 1989 to sing and write songs like that?
I also read your comments, and no, this is my original fanfiction novel. It's not a translation from another author or anything like that. I'm the original author of this fanfiction novel.
