Chapter 6 - Chapter six

Ariel's POV

The Alpha king continued, patting Derek on the shoulder. "If she's a threat to this pack, I will make sure there are no traces of her." I stared at the Alpha king blankly. Was this how cruel he was, to kill a girl he knew nothing about?

Understood, Father, Derek bowed his head, and I did the same as we left the meeting place for his room.

Immediately we entered, I shut the door and slumped on the bed. "What just happened, Derek?" I stared at him.

"I had to be very convincing to Father, else you would already be locked up in a cell by now. So, just try to be grateful," he unbuckled his belt.

"Are you telling me to be grateful for saving my life and putting me in another danger?" I glared at him.

"Yes, I expect a 'thank you' for saving your life," he said, patting me on the shoulder.

I quickly removed his hand. "Let's get this clear: we are not in love with each other. This is just a game to the both of us until I find a better way to leave. We will continue our pretense."

"Yes, precisely why you won't share my bed with me. I have an arrangement for that, and secondly, you won't ask me personal questions about my life. That's forbidden, and thirdly, you obey everything I ask you to," he looked at me, expecting my response.

"That works for me," I rose up from the bed to go change my clothes. I stared at him to get out of the room so I could get changed.

"Oh, I am not going anywhere," he said, his eyes gleaming mischievously. "This is my room, and I remember I give the orders around here."

I grabbed some spare clothes from his room and turned the door knob to go downstairs. "Where are you going?" Derek asked, amused.

"I am going to get changed without your eyes wandering about," I bolted down the stairs.

I strolled across the packhouse, looking for a place to change into new clothes. The Shadow Moon pack looked nothing like my former pack. Everywhere was clean and well-arranged.

The pack house is divided into five sections. Each one of them had different uniforms, which made it harder for me to tell which was the maids' and which was for the omega's.

I found it difficult locating the maids' room. I saw a girl scurrying fast towards my direction. "Hey, do you know where the maid quarters are?" I asked nervously.

The girl just stared at me before leaving me . Do people around here not talk to others who are different from them? I humped, slumping my shoulders.

I didn't ask anyone any more questions. I walked around until I found a room with a sign that read "Maids Room" written on it. With a triumphant smile, I walked in.

The women dressing inside stared at me in shock as they pondered why the prince's bride would be in the same room with them. "Hey, um, you guys can continue dressing. I'll just stay at that corner and wait till you are through," I said, leaving them in a total daze.

I stood there for fifteen minutes, my legs aching. Finally, the maids finished dressing and left. I had the room all to myself. I muttered under my breath as I started changing my clothes.

Then it dawned on me that I had just taken Derek's clothes. I remembered I had no clothes with me. What do I do? I couldn't go back to that room to get fresh clothes. I didn't want to see Derek's "I told you so" glare.

I stared hopelessly at the room and caught sight of one of the maids' clothes hanging by the bedside. I grabbed it and quickly wore it.

As I finished dressing, I walked back to Derek's room. A muscular arm gripped me, pushing me into another room. I wanted to scream, but he held me down, putting his fingers to his lips. "Shh, I don't want to hurt you," he whispered in my ears.

I gasped, taking in the gorgeous view of Derek's twin brother, Ray. I shook my head, refusing to have naughty thoughts about him.

"How did my brother find you?" Ray whispered, his hair pushed back.

"You should ask him that," I pushed him back, freeing myself.

Ray smirked. "So you don't know anything about him?"

"Anything like what?" I asked.

"Like the fact that he doesn't like his girls running away?" Ray's eyes gleamed with amusement.

I glared at him. "Get away from me, or else..."

Ray chuckled. "Or else what? You'll report me to Derek and explain what you're wearing?" He stared at me,enjoying my discomfort.

"I know you are not from around here, and I also know you don't like Derek," Ray said, his eyes narrowing.

"What is your game?" He pushed me towards the wall, his breath hot on my skin.

"I am not playing any game. Why don't you ask your brother?" I tried to sound confident.

Ray cornered me. "What's your game?" He pushed my golden hair back, revealing my hidden scar. "What's this all about?" he asked, touching the scar.

I felt a surge of fear, unsure of how to react. Ray's eyes seemed to bore into my soul, and I felt weak around him.

"The cat's got your tongue, huh?" Ray turned my face to meet his, his eyes gleaming with amusement.

I tried to speak, but my voice caught in my throat.
