Chapter 14 - Pursue

Chapter 14

******Mysterious POV******

a man in a red flowing roe sat before a thrown, a hood covering his head and hiding all his facial features, only his red eyes were visible.

"Where are they? How could you let them go?" he screamed at his subordinate, who bowed his head and folded his hands behind him in submission.

" I know there is no room for excuses, master. I would accept any punishment you give me," he said with a little sincerity laced in his voice. The man huffed.

" Foolish, imbeciles, you almost ruined everything, almost " he angrily yelled at him, he was so angry that he could kill everybody in the room but he held himself back. He had to be calm to think of another plan.

A better one.

He looked to his left and flung his staff at him, the young man skillfully dodged, and he went to pick up the staff.

" Give me that" the master stretches his hand towards him. As soon as the master took the staff, he hit him with it flinging it around to hit him on his ribs, he could swear that all of his ribs had broken.

The force flung him across the room causing him to crash on the nearby wall, he groaned and struggled to stand, he coughed up blood and spat it out.

He cleaned the blood on his lips with the back of his hand, his master was angry because he was careless, it was his fault so he had to take this punishment.

He went to his master again and stood still with his head bowed showing no sign of pain.

The man in front of him still had his head bowed, he couldn't harm him, he was still a very important pawn in the game, and he couldn't get rid of him right away.

" You are lucky you're still my favorite piece," the master said, the man lifted his head with hope and appreciation in his eyes.

'The master is kind to a failure like him?' he thought obsessively.

" I would give you another chance to redeem yourself to me" the Master informed him, the man quickly nodded with a grateful smile.

' just like a puppet ' the master thought

" Go, find her, bring her to me either dead or alive, Don let me down or else you know" he left the words hanging, he did not have to complete his words because the person in the room already understood the consequences.

" No go, and come back with good news" With that command the young man bowed to his waist, turned around, and exited the room.

The master watched the young man Walk out of the room with an unreadable expression.

He had to get rid of him soon or else there would be dire consequences. He stood up and dusted his robe, he carefully checked his staff then turned around and went into his inner room where there was a crystal ball in sight.

The guards made way for him with no hitch after bowing to him.

A woman stood behind the crystal ball watching the moving figures with an amused glint in her eyes. She loved watching others suffer, more than she had.

The master approached the crystal ball and the grotesque-looking woman, she was as old as time itself, she turned to him with only one eye, the other hole was dark and hollow, she had no ears and a whole in her chest, no heart, no pinkie, and her teeth were all gone.

The master bent his body and sat on the chair in front of the ball he looked at the ball to see the moving figures.

" Any improvement?" The witch nodded.

In a whisper, she replied without looking at the master's face,

" She's going away"

" Away? Away to where?" he asked with impatience already detesting the answer he would get, he hated asking this witch question because her answers always left him with more questions, they were always in the form of riddles.

Why couldn't witches just give straightforward answers?

" Away to find her destiny" she whispered as if any loud noise would alert the person in the crystal ball.

" Where is she going then? " He asked getting ready to solve her riddle.

" In the forest where the spirit lies, and the dead roam, a harbor for evil eyes and a nightmare to the good blooms" She answered with a toothless smile.

See! This witch was getting on his nerves.

A simple answer would have been preferable but no! She had to be the witch, making the lives of others difficult. What was the use of coming to her when he couldn't get direct answers?

The master glared at her and exited the room, he didn't have time to argue with this hateful woman, he had to find a way to block that girl's path.

***********

Damon looked at his brother who sat on his father's chair with his legs folded across the ankle on the table.

He ignores the head on the shelf like it is nonexistent, he never liked his father anyway so he didn't care.

" I see you have gotten what you have always wanted, suits you" dDamoncomplimented.

" Thank you, brother, I am happy, this is where I belong" Diamond smiled menacingly at head glaring at him.

" Yes I am happy for you and I do have a small favor to ask" Damon turned serious, he had tried several ways to get into the dungeon but none of them worked. Now he had to ask his brother for help.

" I want Lana released" The brothers looked at each other for a while

"Lana?" Diamond picked up a pen and twirled it around his finger.

" Lana's not here," Diamond said simply.

" WHAT? " Damon shot to his feet, with more knocking his chair over,

" Yeah am sorry to say this but she and the other prisoners escaped," Diamond said softly, he knew she meant a lot to his brother and he had to respect that.

"You're lying" Damon whispered pulling at his hair in frustration, Diamond smiled, they were truly father and son.

" You can go check for yourself, nobody is in the cell, they are all gone, that earthquake helped them escape"

Damon suddenly remembered the cracks, and he then believed his brother. He took in a deep breath and closed his eyes, opening them he let the breath out.

" I have to find her, she can't survive a day out there on her own, she's blind for crying out loud"

" Yeah, yeah, I know alright, I just umm, could not stop her, I learned from that man there of their escape, it seems she even took his most dangerous weapon with her. "

Damon sighed and shook his head.

" That girl, "

finding her was going to be a hassle.

He turned around and exited his now brother's office with the intention of finding Lana and knocking some sense into her.

" Didn't he tell her to stay put, now she has made a mess of the whole situation " Damon sighed again and went to pack his bags.

Diamond watched his brother leave with a smile. His plan where all falling into place
