Iris stood at the edge of her hospital bed as the nurse ties up her patient gown from the back. The nurse finished adjusting her gown and goes straight to attending to the monitor before returning to Iris who was already in the hospital bed.
The nurse stretch out her hand requesting for Iris to give her hand so she can attach the hypodermic needle to her veins.
Iris locks eyes with the nurse and yawns.
"I don't need that, your job is done here." Iris said not wanting to feel the painful prick of a needle in her veins.
"But I'm ordered to.." before the nurse could finish her words Iris glares at her, shutting her up.
"I said your job is fucking done, listen to me if you still want to keep it." Iris threatens as the door Opens almost immediately revealing doctor Dexter.
Her eyes widened, and tears sprang to them at once. Dexter, alerted to her distress, stepped forward and gently took her face in his hands, his gaze fixed on the trembling line of her lips.
"What happened?" Dexter's attention turns to the nurse who was short of words.
"She called me a slut and said she would never attend to a whore like me. I don't understand why your staff is always mean to me." Iris relayed to Dexter who's eyes burned with fury.
"Is this true?" Dexter voices, his tone dripping with malice as the nurse shakes her head in fear.
"She's lying, I didn't do anything to her.." A slap greeted the nurse cheeks as she let's go of everything in her grasps. Iris smiled satisfied at the scenery in front of her. The nurse had been looking at her scornfully earlier, and that alone was justifiable enough to punish her.
Iris tries holding Dexter back. "Don't punish her Dexter, she didn't know any better. I don't want to hold it against her." Iris said looking at the nurse with an innocent pout. The nurse could do nothing but tremble before her superior, she wasn't the first to go through such a treatment and she would not be the last.
Dexter looks over at Iris, sharing her pitiful gazes. He looks over to the nurse. "If it wasn't for Iris I would have made sure that you never work in a hospital again. Get out of my sight." Dexter orders the nurse exits the ward, fleeing with hot tears.
Dexter felt bad for Iris, every single nurse she comes across tries to pick on her when she does nothing but offers them kindness. If it wasn't for her weak figure she wouldn't be at the hospital every other time. Ever since they were young Iris has been diagnosed with a weak heart so any form of stress takes a toll on her. She wouldn't have gone through all these stress if she was never entangled with Ivan Ashton but Iris will rather die than to leave the bastard's side so it's up to him to take care of Iris and be her pillar when Ivan isn't there.
Dexter helps Iris to the hospital bed and begins cupping her cheek, checking for any marks but luckily there wasn't any.
Dexter sighed as Iris avoids his gaze, her eyes watery. "Don't cry Iris, I'm here." He assured her but she sobs harder.
"But Ivan..." Iris cries for what seemed to be the thousandth time.
His frown quickly shifts to a smile as he leans over to Iris and kisses her softly, greedy he lingers, deepening the kiss as they both surrender to each other's embrace. Iris smirked in between the kiss as she runs her fingers through Dexter's hair, as they ram their bodies against each other in heavy breaths.
They both pulled away from the kiss their eyes both a sultry pool for each other.
As the situation registered, Dexter awkwardly retreated from Iris, just as her father and stepmother entered the room. Iris's sobs intensified, capturing the attention of both parents, who hastened to her side. Sydney, her stepmother, offered a comforting embrace, her expression etched with compassion for the distraught young girl.
Meanwhile, Ben's gaze shifted to Dexter, his eyes scrutinizing the young doctor.
"How are you, Dexter?" he asked, his tone measured. Dexter offered a brief, reassuring smile, his eyes meeting his elder stepbrother's.
"I'm fine," he replied, his tone neutral. Ben nodded, his expression unreadable.
"How about Iris? Is she okay?" Ben asked as Dexter nods, reducing the intensity in the air.
"My little niece is doing alright." Dexter answers. "Step niece and I'm not little." Iris corrected as Dexter rolled his eyes playfully at Iris.
"She must have been so stressed that she had a panic attack again. She needs to reduce her stress levels it's getting dangerous." Dexter said as Ben fume internally. The only recent thing to have caused the stress was Autumn's sudden outburst. Everyone knows Ivan and Iris were fated to be together but his greedy daughter drugged Ivan and slept with him which ended them in a marriage of convenience, the thought of it made his blood boil.
Sydney suddenly burst out crying, her head nuzzled on Iris's lap. Iris was stunned not knowing what to do with her hands, if all eyes wasn't on her she would have pushed Sydney off her. Her tears we're literally staining her gown.
Sydney raises her face and pleads with Iris. "Forgive me Iris, if I didn't give birth to that devil, you would never have gone through this."
Iris swallowed her pride and just begins comforting Sydney. This was the only thing close to a mother ever since her mother abandoned her. When her father brought her to the Dawson's residence they welcomed her with opened arms and spoiled her rotten, but who would not. Iris was literally gorgeous, she had fair blonde hair. Skin so pale it could be in competition with snow white. She was so skinny that everyone always fed her, afraid she might break with just one single whisk of the wind.
Everything was set in stone for her when she and Ivan had fallen in love at first sight but then Autumn her greedy half sister, seduced him and took him away from her and for that she'll make sure Autumn gets what's coming to her.
"It's okay mother, Autumn is not a bad person. She was just in love with Ivan. You cannot be mad at someone who's in love can you?" Iris sighs, nibbling on her lower lip as Sydney caught her hands. Before she could comfort Iris, a thick affectionate voice ecompaste the air.
"Iris." Ivan stood at the very entrance of the ward as all eyes focused on him.
