Chapter 34 - RBTC: Chapter 34

---

"Good, let's do it as everyone has suggested." After saying this, the old man called out to his trusted subordinate, Melo, to handle this matter.

Melo immediately took a group of subordinates and walked out of the house, into the courtyard, preparing to head towards Jesse's headquarters.

Just then, a familiar figure suddenly appeared in front of them. He saw Melo and shouted, "Melo, where are you going?"

Seeing Melo come out with a group of people, Jesse guessed what he was going to do. But he couldn't say it directly now. He also wanted to use the other party to enter the manor and see the old man. So, Jesse pretended not to know and asked.

Melo was even more surprised to see Jesse. He hadn't even left the courtyard when he ran into the other party. Wasn't this like throwing himself into a trap?

Melo didn't immediately order his subordinates to arrest Jesse. Since the other party had already arrived, he couldn't escape. As long as he brought him in smoothly, his life and death would be in the hands of the old man.

"Brother Jesse, the old man is worried about your safety, so he sent me and my subordinates to protect you. Since you've already arrived, there's no need for that. Come with me and see the old man."

To ensure that everything went smoothly, he had to say these polite words.

Of course, Jesse knew that the other party's words might not be true. They might have been sent to arrest him.

Both sides had their own motives. Jesse followed Melo into the manor.

Along the way, Melo also asked Jesse what was in the bag behind him. Jesse didn't say directly. He just said it was a gift for the old man.

This put Melo on high alert. The bag might contain something dangerous. But since Jesse had said so, he didn't have any reason to check. He could only keep a close eye on Jesse.

Jesse, led by Melo, arrived at the room where everyone was gathered. When they pushed open the door, Melo's arrival made everyone puzzled. They couldn't understand why he had returned so quickly.

When everyone saw Jesse behind him, they understood. As the old man had said, Jesse had really come here, throwing himself into the trap, seeing them as his only way out.

"Jesse, you should know the consequences of this. Since you dared to come here, what are your intentions?"

Jesse was a smart man. This was undeniable. Otherwise, he wouldn't have climbed to his current position. The old man was sure that the other party knew the consequences of coming here. Since he had come of his own accord, it meant that he might have some confidence.

"Sir, I have indeed guessed the consequences you mentioned. I have no complaints about them. If I were in your shoes, I would have handled it the same way. But I have a better solution that can solve this problem and give me a glimmer of hope."

At this point, there was no need to lie anymore. Everyone in this situation knew what was going on. They were all old foxes. There was no need to pretend they didn't know anything and speak with a mouthful of lies. The other party wouldn't believe them. Instead, they should state their position and provide a solution that would satisfy the other party. This was the only way he could have a glimmer of hope.

"Oh, hahaha, I'd like to hear your solution. Don't hesitate. Speak freely."

The old man was also curious about Jesse's solution. He was also pleased with Jesse's attitude. He was a smart man. He was looking for a last lifeline. Perhaps his solution could really solve their current predicament and allow them to escape unscathed.

Hearing the old man's response, Jesse couldn't help but smile. This was a good outcome. As long as he wasn't arrested and killed on the spot, his chances would increase.

"It's like this. First, I want to present you with a gift. After you see it, perhaps you'll spare my life. Next, I also have a solution to help you solve your worries."

"Oh, then I'd like to see what the gift is. As for whether I can spare your life, it depends on your performance."

Jesse had already made it clear. There was no need to hide anything. Since the other party was so confident that he would spare his life, the old man was also eager to see.

After the old man finished speaking, Jesse took off the bag on his back and, under the old man's gaze, handed it to Melo, telling him to open it.

He was afraid that the other party would misunderstand him and cause unnecessary trouble. Handing this thing to Melo was the safest option for the old man.

After taking the bag, Melo actually moved further away from the old man. He was also afraid that the bag contained something dangerous. Opening it at close range might threaten the old man.

Everyone saw Melo's reaction and smiled in satisfaction. He was indeed the old man's trusted subordinate. He was meticulous in everything he did. This also ensured their safety.

After opening the bag, Melo smelled a faint scent of blood. He realized that the bag might not contain anything dangerous. Looking at the shape of the box, he had a guess, but he couldn't understand why Jesse had brought such a thing.

Under everyone's gaze, Melo completely opened the box. The four sides of the box could be opened. He held the bottom of the box, and the contents were revealed to everyone. Many people were shocked. It was actually a head that looked very similar to Jesse.

Everyone looked at the head in the box, and they couldn't help but admire Jesse. He had found a glimmer of hope in this life-or-death situation.

"Jesse, I didn't expect you to be so prepared. This head can indeed save you, but whether I decide to save you depends on what you say next."

The old man saw the head that looked like Jesse and quickly understood his intentions. He was simply trying to use this head, which resembled him, to appease the public anger and allow him to escape unscathed.

But this would create a potential risk for the old man. Actually, killing Jesse was the best option. The head he had prepared wasn't the best option for the old man.

Hearing the old man's words, Jesse wasn't disappointed. He had anticipated that the old man would say this. He was simply afraid that if he faked his death, if something happened and he was exposed again, the public anger would be even greater. Even the kingdom might not be able to withstand it. This was a situation the old man didn't want to see. He couldn't easily take the risk. Jesse could anticipate the old man's choice.

"My lords, I suspect that the main culprit behind this incident is the group of people who killed our men. I have a plan that can help the kingdom eliminate this threat. And I will also contribute to this plan."

Jesse paused. Everyone pricked up their ears, ready to hear what came next.
