Chapter 10 - Increasing Favourability

I was called to my father's study while I was having Kate prepare afternoon tea. The one who came to call me was Kyla, who had survived thanks to the Duke's physician.

The Kate family had started obeying Gloria's orders rather than those of the head of the household.

Lately, she had been able to tell what Gloria wanted simply from her expressions and gestures. I couldn't help but be impressed by how effective the saint's "kindness" was at making certain people obedient.

By taking Kate and her mother into one of the mansion's rooms to care for after her illness, Gloria's "favorability" seemed to have increased even more.

Recently, she had been publicly elevating this mother-daughter pair, showing off her generosity.

She had given Kyla medicine to help her recovery, and, in front of the other servants, she intentionally handed Kate some unused jewelry.

When they moved, Gloria bought all new furniture and belongings for them.

As a result, not only did they face a level of insidious bullying that even A-ko found shocking, but the other servants also began to treat them terribly. But this, in fact, was exactly what Kate had hoped for in her past life.

In her previous life, the Caldwell Duke's mansion had been organized with Gloria at the top, and there had been no room for bullying.

The Duchess? No one would listen to the words of a commoner who had risen from being a mistress.

Peace is built on control and hierarchy. Gloria, reflecting on the results of her "kindness," thought this as she knocked on the door to her father's study.
