Chapter 16 - A New Path

After reading Naruto, Leonel began to realize something profound. Naruto didn't just fight to become the strongest; he fought for something greater—to find the meaning of life and earn the recognition of others. That spirit, unknowingly, began to stir something within Leonel. He was no longer interested in becoming the strongest in terms of power or warfare. He wanted to find the happiness he once felt when his mother smiled proudly at him.

Until then, Leonel's life had been full of demands and expectations from his family, especially from his father, Duke Warwick. He had been forced to follow a predetermined path: to become a tough leader and a strong warrior. However, after reading Naruto, Leonel realized that he didn't need to follow the exact same path as his family had wanted. He wanted to find a simpler happiness, the kind he once experienced when his mother was still alive.

That day, Leonel decided to speak with his father to explain the changes in his feelings.

"Father, I don't know if I can be what you expect me to be," Leonel said softly, his eyes downcast. "But I want to try a different path, to find a simpler happiness that once existed in my life."

Duke Warwick was silent, staring at his son seriously. The tension in the room was palpable. Leonel knew this wouldn't be an easy conversation.

"The path you choose, Leonel, will not be easy," Duke Warwick replied in a heavy voice. "This world demands that we be strong, especially as nobles. However, if that is your decision, I won't stop you. But remember, that path will be full of challenges far tougher than you imagine."

Leonel nodded firmly, meeting his father's gaze, which was authoritative yet held a hint of concern.

"Whatever path you choose, remember one thing," Duke Warwick said, his voice heavy and deep. "This family never does things halfway. Whatever you do, strive to be the best. In this family, we teach that there is no place for mediocrity. Whatever you choose to do, be the best at it."

Leonel looked at his father with determination. The words echoed in his heart, and he felt his spirit ignite.

"So, even if I choose a different path, I must strive to be the best at it?" Leonel asked, confirming.

Duke Warwick nodded slowly. A thin smile appeared on his stern face. "Exactly. Because that is our family motto. The strongest isn't just about physical strength or power, but about being the best in whatever you choose to do. There's no reason to be mediocre. Remember that, Leonel."

After a brief silence, Duke Warwick looked at his son with seriousness.

"Leonel," he said in a deep and firm voice, "the path chosen by others may feel comfortable, because it's guaranteed and clear. However, the path you choose for yourself, even though it's harder, will demand that you carry the struggles and consequences on your own. This family will not help you if you choose a different path. It's your choice, and your responsibility. Remember, if you choose to take that path, you must be prepared to face all the difficulties without relying on anyone. No one will help you, except yourself."

With those words, Leonel began to feel the weight of the choice he had made. Even though he was sure of his decision, he knew it was a path full of challenges and must be taken with stronger resolve than ever before.

With a firm step, Leonel left his father's study. He was ready to search for the thing that would make his life feel truly alive.
