As I had promised Lumine, I spent the morning with her in the garden of our palace. This vast estate, as large as a football stadium, boasted a breathtaking garden adorned with colorful flowers, fountains, and cozy seating areas—a favorite spot for our family.
We sat in one corner of the garden, at a small table surrounded by intricately carved chairs. The serene ambiance was perfect for Lumi to run around freely and enjoy her playtime. Like most children her age, she loved darting between the flowers, her laughter echoing through the air.
"Papa, this is for you!" she suddenly exclaimed, running up to me with her tiny hand clutching a flower.
"Oh, my little princess is so kind. Thank you, Lumi," I said, patting her head. Her silky white hair felt soft under my touch, and she giggled, clearly pleased with the praise.
After running around to her heart's content, Lumi seemed tired. She walked over and climbed into my lap, asking to sit there. I lifted her up and let her sip from a glass of water on the table. Her satisfied expression made me smile.
"Since my little princess has given me something, how about Papa gives you something in return?" I asked, reaching for some paper and colored pencils that had been prepared on the table. Lumi often used these to draw while playing in the garden.
This world wasn't as primitive as the medieval settings often depicted in stories. The quality of paper here was almost on par with my previous world, and for nobles, the paper was even better, albeit far more expensive. Writing tools were equally advanced. The pens used here didn't rely on liquid ink but instead utilized magical energy—mana. These pens could last a lifetime as long as they were refilled with mana and maintained properly.
"Yay! What is it, Papa?" she asked excitedly.
I began to draw. Carefully, I sketched a creature from my old world—yellow, small, with long ears and a lightning-bolt-shaped tail. A few strokes of color completed the drawing, and soon it was finished.
"Here it is," I said, showing her the result.
Her eyes widened with amazement. "Wow, Papa, your drawing is so good! This creature is so cute. What is it, Papa?"
I smiled. "This is called Pikachu, Lumi."
"Pikachu?" she repeated curiously, then giggled. "I really love this Pikachu bunny. Papa, can you give me one to keep as a pet?" she asked, her hopeful expression melting my heart.
I chuckled internally and quickly consulted the system. "Hey, system, does a creature like Pikachu exist in this world?"
The system's response was immediate and firm. "No. While this is a fantasy world, creatures like Pikachu or other Pokémon do not exist here."
I sighed softly and gently stroked Lumi's head. "I'm sorry, Lumi. Pikachu doesn't exist in this world. It's just an imaginary creature Papa thought of. But I promise, one day, I'll make a Pikachu doll for you. How does that sound?"
Her face briefly showed disappointment, but my final words instantly lifted her spirits. She smiled brightly and extended her tiny pinky finger. "That's a promise, okay, Papa?"
I laughed softly, hooking my pinky with hers. "Yes, Papa promises."
"Lumi loves Papa," she said, hugging me tightly.
I smiled warmly and hugged her back. This simple promise might seem trivial, but to me, it was a small step toward bringing a bit of modern magic into her life—and perhaps, into this world.
