The group entered the stone structure, their footsteps echoing in the vast, empty halls. The air was heavy with energy, and Kael could feel the Shard's presence growing stronger with each step.
"This place feels alive," Marlen said, his voice low.
Seris nodded. "It's the Shard's influence. Be ready for anything."
They reached a massive chamber at the heart of the structure. In the center stood a pedestal, and atop it rested the Shard of Dominion. The fragment glowed with an intense, golden light, its energy radiating outward in waves.
Kael felt the Heart respond, its rhythm quickening. The whispers grew louder, urging him to claim the Shard.
"This is it," he said, stepping forward.
But before he could reach the pedestal, a figure emerged from the shadows. It was a Hunter, clad in black armor that shimmered with an unnatural light.
"You're too late," the Hunter said, his voice cold. "The Shard belongs to us."
