There were different classes to beasts; the weakest class being Common Class and the strongest being Legendary Class. Common class beasts always counted for the highest number of beasts when they came out of portals, and they were always the first.
Portals were also classified into classes, depending on the class of the strongest beast that will come out of it (Alpha). Over the years, humans have learnt to know this just by looking at the portal and feeling the concentration of breath around the portal.
Mider came to an abrupt stop as he witnessed the scene a hundred meters in front of him. It was his first time seeing beasts and like every human, he was in shock for a few seconds. Hearing about something and seeing it were two very different things.
A story could not replicate the fear he was currently feeling.
However, that fear only lasted a second, and he immediately ran to the defensive line.
"Mider?, what are you doing here?" One of the soldiers asked. As an outgoing citizen of Galor, quite a few people knew Mider, and this soldier was one of them.
"It's a long story". Mider said as a white bird with two sets of wings fell a few meters from him. Noticing it's cause of death, he turned his attention to the sky, and it did not take long for him to notice Zara.
"Did you find him!?" The both asked at the same time, which pretty much answered both questions.
"Should i keep looking?" Mider shouted.
Zara was conflicted for a few seconds before answering; "No we should help here. If Khaos is in the middle of a fight right now, your presence will only hinder him".
Mider had to admit that Zara was right, he had absolutely no chance against Milly. If he continued looking and actually found them, Khaos would have to divert his attention to also keeping Mider safe, which might result in the death of both of them.
Mider had already been to the cave, but he could not find anyone. The hole in the roof of the cave had told him that the fight had moved above ground, and he had been searching ever since.
It must be noted that portals closed about five minutes after opening, so Mider did not see the one which spawned the beasts in front of him.
"What should i do?" Mider asked as he turned to the soldier who had recognised him, only to realise that he was already dead.
"Just fire at them with everything you got. Strategy has gone out the window since our numbers have dropped too much". Another soldier said, his arms outstretched as he let loose a barrage of earth spikes at the enemy.
"Got it". Mider said as he glanced at the dead body beside him. He had been friends with that soldier since he was a child. That soldier had been the one to teach Mider how to court girls, and now he was dead, just like that.
Anger built up inside MIder and his eyes began glowing. Lightning accumulated over his body and with a scream, he punched both fists into the ground. Mider was at the center of the defensive line, and since the human side had lost quite a few soldiers, there was no one in front of him, he was at the literal front line.
"Tribulation wall". Mider said and sparks of lightning travelled down his arm onto the ground, before further travelling on the surface of the scorched earth to rise again five meters in front of him. The lightning rose and and created a wall made of interwoven lightning bolts, which crackled as if a manifestation of Mider's anger.
The wall was two meters tall and two meters wide, any beast which came into contact with the wall was either cut into pieces, burned, or paralysed, depending on it's defense. However since the wall was not wide enough, some beasts went around it, but that could not discredit Mider contribution, over a dozen beasts still died in seconds thanks to his wall.
"Who is that!?" The commander asked anyone who might have the answer.
"He is one of mine". Zara replied.
"Is he the friend you were looking for?"
"No, he isn't". Zara shook her head. The commander nodded as the battle continued. Mider kept up his wall of lightning, using no other attack. Zara, kept the skies clear with a rain of green arrows, almost single handedly taking care of all air beasts.
However, a few seconds later, things changed, the front lines began to be overwhelmed by the beasts, some of them were even just shrugging through Mider's wall with only a few minor burns.
"The Uncommon Class beasts have arrived", the commander mumbled with a grave expression.
"Are you okay?" Zara suddenly heard a voice beside her. Turning her head, Khaos was standing there in mid air, looking for any signs of injury on her body.
Zara's bow disappeared as she hugged Khaos. "I should be asking you that. Mider said that the one behind the kidnappings is Milly and that she was more powerful that before?, what happened?"
"It's a long story, a lot of strange things have happened in the last hour that i am beginning to question my sanity". The image of LLS Blitz wolf nodding to him and taking Milly into the portal appeared in Khaos' mind.
"But..."
"Hey a little help here!?" one of the few remaining soldiers in the air line shouted. Zara was their greatest weapon, and that very weapon had stopped firing to talk to someone else. Increasing their workload by a hundred times.
"We will talk later". Khaos said and floated down to the front lines. He was quite impressed by Mider's skill, but he did not want to break his concentration.
"So you're finally healed up?", the commander said as Khaos landed beside him. Truthfully, with the stress of the battle, the commander had forgotten all about Khaos.
Khaos nodded. "Yes, and thank you for the protection, you guys saved my life", he said.
"No problem, but could you please help us out?. Despite my speech and our beliefs, we do not actually want to die", The commander snorted.
He and everyone else was fighting for their lives while Khaos stood there with his hands behind his back, and that annoyed the commander. It did not help that he could not actually order Khaos, since technically, Khaos outranked him.
"Oh do not worry commander, no one else will die today". Khaos said.
"And, what makes you so sure of that?" The commander wiped some black blood off his brow.
"Because the cavalry is here".
At first, the commander thought Khaos was referring to himself. However, after following Khaos' gaze. He saw a two hundred meter tall human, barreling towards them. The crest of the Black Academy proudly displayed on the giant's robes.
"Commander!, Black Academy Defenders Incoming!"
