"So to recap; you have absolutely no memory of the only important events?" Khaos sighed.
"Oh so my bread means nothing to you huh?" Mider rolled his eyes. "Although there is something..", he added.
Please be something useful, please be something useful, please be something useful'. Khaos hoped and prayed to all the available gods in the cosmos.
"It felt like i was dreaming though...". Mider began."I was in a dark place, and there was the sound of running water close by. There were also sounds of dripping water, as if it was falling from the ceiling. After my eyes adjusted i realised that i was in a cave".
"Then i heard a voice say 'That one is awake', then another female voice said 'I got it'. And that's all i remember", Mider shrugged.
"Did you see anyone else in this cave?. Like the faces of the people who were talking or any other captured cultivators?" Zara asked.
"No". Mider shook his head. "I don't remember seeing anything else, everything is hazy. That's why i say it was like a dream", he said.
"I wonder if there are other people who were let free or if you are the only one". Khaos said.
"I think i am the only one". Mider replied. "No one except for my family, you guys and a few guards know about my return, which is why no one out there is talking about it".
"If anyone else came back, it would be the talk of the city. So either i am the only one, or the others who were released live alone, or they are hiding". Mider added.
Khaos nodded. "Which then begs the question; why did they let you go?"
"I think i have an idea". Mider said, "I am special, i am not like any other cultivator out there".
Khaos rolled his eyes. "Dude..".
"No hear me out; so the Flux core of a normal cultivator right.."
"We know everything about cores, tell us why you are different". Khaos interjected.
"I have only one element in my core". Mider said.
"What?, so as in you can change the Flux in your core to be of a single element?" Khaos asked. Thinking of his own newly found ability, which he thought to be exclusive to himself.
"No.." Mider shook his head. "I can only use lightning, period. My core is only made up of lightning Flux, and it has been since i awakened".
Awakening is when one's Flux core forms. It usually happens at around 20 years of age.
"So you literally cannot use any other element besides lightning?" Zara asked, having a hard time wrapping her head around the news. It was the first time for either of them to hear of such a condition. But then again, in the world of cultivation, impossibilities did not really exist.
"Yep, i am all lightning". Mider raised his hand, and sparks of golden lightning could bee seen jumping from finger to finger. Which was strange because normal lightning was blue-ish white.
Noticing that Zara was interested in his abilities, Mider coated his forearms and hands with lightning, making gloves of lightning which completely covered every inch of skin from the elbow downwards. One should note that this was very hard to do with lightning since lightning was a very unstable element.
Then he placed his hands in front of his face, palms facing each other. A second later, lightning began jumping from one hand to the other in a strange pattern. As more and more lighting built up between his hands, the word "Zara" could be clearly seen, written in lightning.
"Wow". Zara said, "What would happen if i touched it?" she asked, moving her finger closer to the 'Z' in her name.
"What's your cultivation stage?" Mider asked.
"Seventh"
"Then you will lose your arm from the elbow down, and the shock will incapacitate you for about ten seconds". Mider said. "If you were on the sixth stage like me, your arm, half your chest neck and parts of your face will get incinerated. Bottom line, you would die".
"Why did you not join an academy Mider, because this is an Academy worthy anomaly you have right there". Khaos said, pulling Zara's hand away from the crackling bolts of lightning.
Mider dispelled his lightning; "I never thought the Academy would even look at me. I am quite embarrassed about this, very few people even know about it".
"You have nothing to be embarrassed about", Zara said. "Your lightning is five times stronger than other elements in your stage right?"
Mider raised his brows; "How did you know?".
"I know someone else who can kind of do what you can do. But he can control which element to empower per time", Zara answered.
"Oh so Khaos was likening me to this person earlier", Mider pointed at Khaos. "When he said i could change the Flux in my core to be of a single element?".
Zara nodded.
"But his lightning is not as under control as yours. I never asked him but I am pretty sure he cannot write in mid air using lightning like you just did". Khaos said.
"If he was born using only lightning he would be able to", Mider answered. "I have been using this element for so long it feels a part of me", A crown of lightning appeared on Mider's head, illuminating his dark hair.
"Is that why you continue to cultivate?" Zara asked
"Yes, i want to see what i will be able to do with lightning when i reach the eighth stage". Mider nodded.
"Only eighth?"
"Yes, and that is if father will be able to sponsor me until then. I know that reaching stage nine is impossible without one of those". Mider pointed at Khaos's uniform, specifically the Black Academy emblem above his heart.
Khaos nodded. "Right, almost forgot".
"Now i regret not trying out for the Academy 6 months ago". Mider sighed, "Now it's too late, i have to wait a decade".
Maybe i can try something for him' Khaos thought, even though he did not like it when he hit on Zara, Khaos liked Mider's personality, and that made him a special person already.
Khaos was very picky when it came to friends and partners, evidence of this was the fact that out of the whole Black academy, he only knew by name his instructors, Zara and Kato. The only reason he knew Kato was that he still needed to kill him.
Lyra was Khaos' second girlfriend in his entire 135 years of life. The people who actually knew Khaos before he entered the Academy could be counted on one hand, excluding his parents.
"Hey, can i help you guys in your investigation?" Mider asked.
"Well this is Zara's quest so i will leave it to her". Khaos shrugged.
"Zar?" Mider looked at Zara with puppy eyes.
Zar?, since when?' Khaos wondered.
"Sure, you can help". Zara said.
