Half a kilometer away from the Dead gorge, a carriage was seen moving along the dirt path. Carriages on Zylon were powered by the Flux of the driver, it was another invention gifted to humanity by their god the Lawgiver.
Four men clad in silver armour walked around the carriage, one at each side, while another armoured guard was sited atop it, driving.
"Here it comes, three are in the sixth stage while two in the fifth". Zara told Khaos.
"I know". Khaos nodded. "So the plan is the same, try to take out two of the sixth stage ones, chances are that the last sixth stage guard will chase after you and the other two will come after me".
"Fine, i will get into position". Zara said before flying up and standing atop the mountain, right at the edge that led to the gorge.
It must be noted that the Dead mountain was not that large, having a height of about 200 meters, it was more like a hill.
Meanwhile, Khaos flew down and landed in the gorge right on the path of their target carriage. A couple of minutes later, the carriage appeared before him.
"Get out of the path!" The guard walking in front of the carriage shouted.
"I would like to request a ride". Khaos said, showing his open palms as a sign of his goodwill. "I can pay in Flux stones", he added.
"If you are wealthy enough to waste Flux stones like that then...". The guard stopped his speech as his eyes opened wide. By then the carriage was close enough that the guard noticed Khaos' attire, which was the cause of his surprise.
Everyone knew what the emblem of a scroll surrounded by eleven circles of different colours meant.
No cultivator who is part of the Academy would request transportation, even one as weak as the one in front of me. There could only be one reason for his presence'. The guard thought.
Without saying anything else, he took off into the air as a fireball materialised on his palm. However, his attack suddenly failed and he fell back on the ground, with a green arrow going through his head. The arrow had completely ignored the guard's helmet.
Khaos waved his hand and wind blades flew towards the guard on the left, but he was already expecting that and quickly took off into the air.
Soon after sending his wind blades, Khaos had to erect an earth wall in front of him to block a volley of fire spears which came from the guard who was driving the carriage.
The guard at the front was at the sixth stage, as well as the one of the right of the carriage, and he must have gone after Zara by now, hopefully she managed to also surprise kill the one guarding the back, who was also at the sixth stage'. Khaos thought as he flew backwards.
The guard who he had attacked first was hovering in the air, conjuring earth spears and sending them towards Khaos while the guard who was driving the carriage attacked from the ground.
Khaos countered the fireballs from the guard on the ground with water spheres while also blocking the raining earth spears with his own shields made of earth.
Not good', his Flux storages were depleting quickly since he had to defend the bombardment from two fronts simultaneously.
Also, using two elements in quick succession was very hard. For most cultivators it was actually impossible, but for Khaos, it was just very hard. He could have also just used the earth element to block both the fireballs and the earth spears.
However, if he did so, his strategy would not work. Just as he planned, a cloud of steam appeared from the collision of fire and water, therefore making a sense fog
Khaos smiled slightly as he conjured a tower shield made of water and charged towards the guard on the ground, hiding behind the shield into which he continuously poured Flux since the fireballs did not stop coming.
His smile widened seeing that the earth spears from above continued attacking his old position. The fog greatly obscured the visibility of the guard floating in the air. So he did not notice that Khaos had moved, but the other guard noticed.
Alas, before he could shout at his comrade, Khaos dispelled his water shield, suffering a burn on his left shoulder just to send out a bolt of lightning, which caught the guard by surprise and forced him to stop his assault for a second.
Khaos did not waste that single second and sent out a volley of small earth blades. However, the blades just bounced off the guard's armor, causing Khaos to curse his luck.
The guard recovered and resumed his fireball assault while Khaos created an earth dome which completely covered him before spraying out a torrent of water towards the guard from the sides of the dome, making even more steam.
Then Khaos quickly sent out a larger bolt of lightning, which traveled through the water and struck the wet armour of the guard. This time the guard was paralysed for a couple of seconds and Khaos jumped at him with the wind element to boost his speed before driving an earth blade into his eye.
Before the guard's corpse even reached the ground. Khaos made another earth dome and ran out of it before completing it, making a perfect dome of earth with no gaps. A few instants later, a barrage of fireballs exploded on the surface of the earth dome.
The guard in the air had finally seen through all the fog and resumed his attack. However he was not aware that the dome he was so fervently attacking was actually empty.
He realised his fact too late as a dozen wind blades attacked him from behind. The attack dented his armour but did not hurt him, what did hurt though was the lightning that hit him straight after.
Khaos had learnt that water, metal and lightning was an effective combination so he did not hesitate to use it. The guard seized up and lost control of his wind, falling from the sky for only a few seconds before he stabilized himself.
Alas, the two seconds he took regaining his balance were enough for Khaos to fly forward at his fastest speed and stab the guards eye with another knife made of earth. The eye hole was the only part of the guard that was not armoured after all.
