Wait, entrance exam?, isn't this already the entrance exam?' Khaos thought.
For the following 30 minutes, the representative was bombarded with attack after attack. Surprisingly enough, the few wounds he sustained did not last for longer than a few seconds. Khaos guessed this to be the work of another Law.
At first, watching the seventh stage Cultivators unleash their attacks was interesting. However, after the tenth one, it became boring. The attacks lacked variety, but Khaos did not blame the Cultivators, there was only so much one could do the rules in place.
Cultivators who chose to use the fire element either shot an exploding fireball, a fire version of Kato's attack, or a crescent blade made of fire. Earth Cultivators either used a thin earth disk or an earth sphere or spear. Wind Cultivators all used wind blades and there was not even a single participant who used lightning.
The only variety came when it came to a Cultivator who focused on hand to hand combat. However, even then it boiled down to either a punch or a fancy kick. Almost all cultivators who chose this method of attack failed, the only one who passed was a seventh stage Cultivator who was clad in pink clothing.
He had run at the representative from 50 meters away and literally rammed his body onto him. No attack, no fancy move, just running and crashing. However that run and crash had made the representative bend backwards, and the pink clothed man passed just like that.
When the remaining seventh stage participants saw this, they thought they could do the same. 'We just need to run and jump at him right?, it shouldn't be that hard'. They tried it and turns out, it was actually hard, very hard. The poor Cultivators felt like they had run straight into a boulder the size of a mountain.
Out of the 24 seventh stage Cultivators, only 10 qualified. The others left with crestfallen expressions while others flew off with blinding speeds. Just because they failed here it did not mean they could not try at another Academy, they just had to make it in time.
Then after the seventh stage was finished, the sixth stage Cultivators began. Just like their stronger peers, they all unleashed the basic attacks which they knew. The only participant who was interesting was a short girl with long green hair and pale white skin.
She was the only participant who carried a weapon, which was a meter long bow on her back. The bow was green and shone under the midday sun. The representatives had not said anything about weapons in their rules simply because they did not see her. She had been hiding in the trees during that time after all.
The girl unsheathed her bow and notched an arrow into place. After pulling back the string as far as she could, her hair blew back as the arrow flew out and a less than a split second later, it was firmly planted in the representative's shoulder.
The other participants looked on in shock, especially the ones who had already done the test. They knew how hard that skin was, even though the representative was now using a weaker version of his Stone Skin Law.
The female representative narrowed her eyes as her colleague pulled out the arrow. Then she called the girl over to her..
"You cheated", she said, but her voice was low, no other participant heard her.
"How?" the girl asked nervously.
"You coated your arrow head in wind element to make it sharper and harder. You also used the wind element to make your arrow fly faster than usual", the representative explained.
"Oh, i am sorry i.....".
"You pass, congratulations", the representative suddenly said, surprising the girl.
"But you said....", however the representative was already walking away to watch the other participants.
The tests continued as usual and no other sixth stage participant made any impressive attacks. In the end, from the 47 sixth stage participants, only 7 managed to pass. Which was even less than the seventh stage, not to mention that the sixth stage had almost double the amount of participants compared to the seventh.
The sun was now beginning to hide behind the trees, but the tests continued since darkness did not hinder Cultivators at all. Sleeping was also unnecessary the more powerful a cultivator became, their bodies just did not get tired easily.
So without wasting time, the tests for the fifth stage began, and they were even more underwhelming than the previous two stages.
It was to be expected though, the fifth stage was the weakest in the gathering, and they hadn't had enough time to refine their attacks. Over 90% of the fifth stage cultivators had not even planned on joining any Academy in the near future, Khaos included.
However after the change of the rules, or a particular tragedy, they had decided to join. This was also the reason why there were Cultivators of different stages in taking part in the selection.
If the rules had not changed, only the seventh stage Cultivators would be taking part. And maybe that stage eight girl.
Soon enough, Khaos' turn came, and three people were very interested in what he would do. These three were obviously the two representatives and Kato.
The female representative even subconsciously took a step forward as Khaos stretched his body and did some jumps. "What the hell?" one of the participants who had failed asked his friend. "Does he think stretching will help him?"
Some of the participants who failed had decided to stay and watch the rest of the tests.
Khaos narrowed his eyes before he suddenly ran....in the wrong direction. "Hey, the test is this way!", one of the failed fifth stage participants flew up and shouted at Khaos. Eliciting some laughs from the crowd. Even the representatives were confused, the male one even scratching his bald head.
When Khaos was 100 meters away, he turned around and burst forward with unreal speed. The stage seven Cultivators and stronger could even see green gusts of wind coming out of his back. After reaching a distance of 50 meters from his target, Khaos leapt into the air and began spinning vertically.
His feet were less than half a meter off the ground, his hands crossed in front of his chest to decrease wind resistance as he spun faster and faster. Of course by now the mouths of everyone watching were on the floor.
It was not that what Khaos was doing was hard, as a matter of fact anyone could do it after a few decades of practice. However no one actually thought about it, and Khaos hadn't even attacked yet but the representatives had already accepted him in their minds.
By the time Khaos was 25 meters away, his body had disappeared, replaced by a small tornado. Then a small flame appeared in the middle of the tornado, which soon turned into a fire tornado, turning the grass close to it into ashes.
A few seconds later, a horizontal crescent made of fire erupted from the tornado, flying towards the representative with absolute unreal speed, in relation to his cultivation stage.
Khaos had a hard time not shouting out the name of his most powerful attack.
