"Huh, i thought she meant there would be a picture of an anvil". Khaos mumbled as he walked into the shop, which used an anvil as a doorstop.
It was the next morning and after a horrible night, Khaos wanted to get his journey started as soon as possible.
"Hello, i would like to sell a weapon", he said to the clerk, who was rubbing his eyes, and yawning behind the metal counter.
"We do not really buy weapons here, we do the selling, but let's see what you have", the clerk said.
Khaos nodded and handed over the axe.
"Not bad, this is a nice quality weapon you got here". The clerk held the axe like one would hold a baby as he inspected it.
"How strong is it", the clerk asked.
"The handle is made of iron while the head is tempered steel and coated with Obsidium". Khaos answered.
"Oh, you are a forger?" the clerk raised an eyebrow.
"Yes i am, i actually made that with my.....father". Khaos' mood drastically changed at the end of that sentence.
Obviously the clerk, just like everyone in the city, had heard about what happened to Lator and he had a good hunch about Khaos.
It did not help that Khaos was still wearing his tattered clothes and even though his back had healed, he was still half covered in blood. No one actually cared though because he was not the only person from Lator who came to Galor.
"Listen, i need an extra pair of hands these days and since you have experience in the trade, would you be interested?" The clerk said.
Khaos furrowed his brows in thought, "How much would you pay me, and i need to be paid per week". Normally it would be rude to speak like this to his potential employer, but Khaos' mood was most likely ruined for the rest of the day.
"I will pay you two gold per week fixed salary and one extra gold for every three weapons we sell", the clerk said.
Khaos answered immediately. "No thanks, are you buying the axe?"
The clerk sighed. "I will give you five gold for it, and that's just because Obsidium is rare".
"Fine". Khaos shrugged and the clerk handed him the gold, which he pocketed and walked out.
He then took off into the sky and stood at an altitude of about 300 meters. After scanning his surroundings for a few seconds, he saw what he was looking for and dashed towards it.
Khaos was headed towards a clearing in the middle of a nearby forest, in an area of about one square kilometer, there were no trees. Instead, the ground was barren with scattered mounds of sand and rock.
After landing, he walked towards a small shed at the edge of the artificial clearing.
"Good morning, i would like to purchase some Flux stones". Khaos said to the man he found in there.
"Okay, it's four gold a stone", the man answered. Khaos was pleasantly surprised that the price was lower than he expected.
He took out his pouch and emptied all it's contents. "34 gold and 30 silver", he mumbled. He had used two silver for the crappy inn room and gotten 5 gold for the axe.
"How much in silver?" he asked.
"Twenty silver coins each" the clerk answered, and this time Khaos furrowed his brows in confusion, but he did not voice nor show his concerns.
He then gathered all his coins and put them back into his pouch. "I will be back soon", he told the clerk and left the shed before flying at full speed towards Galor city.
After about an hour, he landed in front of the inn and entered.
"Oh good morning, i did not see you leave in the morning", the girl behind the counter said with a smile.
"Yes sleep was hard, the rooms are too crappy". Khaos chuckled.
"You are never going to let that go are you?" the girl asked with a pout.
"No i am not, anyway i need to exchange my gold coins for silver, any place i can do that?" Khaos asked.
"Yes there is a merchant shop that can help with that, or you can do it here", the clerk said.
"Here?" Khaos raised an eyebrow.
"Yes all our customers pay in silver, so we have quite a few of those", the girl explained.
"Okay then i will exchange for them here". Khaos took out the 34 gold coins and handed them over.
"That would be 340 silver coins, hold on i'll be right back" the clerk took the coins and went into a room in the back.
About a minute later, she returned "Um, we are kind of short", she said with an embarrassed smile.
"How short?" Khaos asked.
"4 coins short", she answered.
"No problem, i will just sleep in your crappy mattresses for two more days then". Khaos shrugged.
After getting the 336 coins, Khaos flew towards the mine once again. However, halfway there, he ran out of Wind Flux, so he quickly summoned and flat board made of earth below him and rode on that the rest of the way.
"I am back, and i would like to purchase Flux stones with this". He removed 360 silver coins and placed them on the table.
"Certainly sir", the clerk smiled and pocketed the silver before taking a wooden box from behind his desk. Opening the box, he took out 18 small blue spherical stones and placed them in a pouch which he handed to Khaos.
"Thank you for the exchange sir", the clerk said as he closed the box, allowing Khaos to catch a glimpse of the numerous Flux stones inside.
This exchange might have seemed underwhelming, but it actually was a high value transaction. 360 silver coins was an extremely large amount of money, this was seen by the fact that Khaos had to exchange his family business' entire liquid assets, as well as sell a high quality weapon just to get part of that amount.
While Khaos rode his earth board back towards the city with a smile, another man walked into the shed at the mine.
"Father i just finished quite a large transaction", the clerk said with a proud smile.
"Really?, that's great. How much did you get?" the father asked.
"360 silver coins" the clerk puffed out his chest.
"That's a lot of money son, so we are now 9 Flux stones down, i'll tell the workers", the father smiled.
"No it's 18 father".
"What!?" the father's eye twitched.
