Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 : Chaos with a K (Part 1)

Ten thousand years later, city of Lator.

In a small wooden cottage located close the edge of the city, a young man could be seen happily stirring a pot of what seemed like purple vegetables shaped like carrots. His left hand was red hot as he held the side of the pot, while he stirred with his right hand.

He had black hair and eyes of the same colour, with a sharp nose and dark skin. On his 1.8 meter tall body, he donned white cloth pants and a black sleeveless shirt, his long hair tied in a ponytail.

Then on top of all his clothing was a blue apron with the words, "Don't add salt", embroidered on the front.

As he continued tending to his pots, the door suddenly opened and two people, a man and a woman, walked in. The man was 2 meters tall with a muscular body and black skin. His red hair, just like his beard, was disheveled and looked like it had never seen the end of a razor. He wore a black vest which barely covered his massive chest and blue shorts.

The woman on the other hand was 1.6 meters tall and had long black hair like the teenage cook. She had a tanned skin tone with delicate facial features. She wore a long brown dress as well as canvax (Leather-like material) gloves on her hands.

"Welcome home parents, how was the forge today?" The teenage cook spun on his heels to look at the two before focusing back on his pot.

"Brutal", the man huffed as he threw his giant body on the small wooden chair. It was a wonder how the chair did not snap to splinters.

"City Hall keeps ordering weapons and armour, left, right, up, down and center". The woman said as she also took a seat. "Why are we the only forgers in Lator city anyway?" she complained.

"Now you know how i feel", the teenage cook laughed slightly as he tasted his stew before nodding in satisfaction.

"Well, i am a woman Khaos, an old woman. I cannot be running around in giant ovens carrying iron ingots the whole day", the woman answered.

"Oh come on honey, sure there are some wrinkles..."

The man's words were cut short as a fireball 30 centimeters in diameter hovered a few inches from his face.

"Why did you stop honey?, continue your words", the woman said with a sweet smile which did not extend to her eyes.

"What?, was i saying something?" the man chuckled nervously, "I don't recall", he added while a bead of sweat travelled down his forehead.

"Thought so", the woman huffed as the fireball disappeared, allowing the man to breathe.

"Hey Khaos, son. Is the food ready yet?" the man asked, clearly eager to change the topic to much less dangerous territory.

"Almost done father", the teenage cook, or rather, Khaos said while he turned around and waved his hand, opening the cupboard which was a couple meters away from him before three plates flew out and softly landed on the table.

"Your control over wind is improving son", the father whistled in approval.

"Yes, i have been practising and cultivating during my free time. In less than 5 months i will advance to the fourth stage", Khaos said as he brought over the pot of stew, which hovered above his hand.

"That's my boy!" the father exclaimed, his eyes locked on to the stew that Khaos was dishing. It was not clear whether the father was excited about his son's growing skill or the food. However, his growling stomach cleared up the confusion.

Khaos rolled his eyes as he sat down, "Lets dig in", he said, of course his father was already digging without remorse.

"Thank you sweetie", Khaos' mother said as she also began eating, but in a more civilized manner of course.

"No problem mother, after all..." Khaos halted his words as a slight ringing resounded in the room, causing his eyes to widen in horror.

He had only heard that sound once before in his life, but no one could forget what it meant. However, this time, unlike before, it was clearer and sounded....closer.

"No!" Father and son shouted simultaneously. "Fly now!!" the father said as he pointed his hand at the closest wall. A large fireball appeared and blew a large portion of the wall. At the same time as the wall blew, a black spot appeared in the centre of the room before instantaneously exploding to a diameter of 5 meters.

Then a split second later, a pink object burst out before moving at blinding speed towards the father, who was now about 25 meters in the air, flying away as fast as he could. However, due to the fact that he had waited for his family to escape first, he could not get away in time.

The pink object, which turned out to be the tongue of a two meter tall slimy green creature, caught the father and clamped onto him tight, all his bones broke and a rib destroyed his heart. He was dead before the frog even swallowed him whole.

"No! father!" Khaos shouted. However there was no time to grieve as a black bird with a wingspan of 5 meters flew towards his mother, who was too shocked to move a muscle. Khaos gritted his teeth and kicked in mid air, two wind blades came out of his shins with a beeline for the bird.

The wind blades hit their mark, and only managed to puck a few feathers. "Mother FLY!" Khaos screamed, his shout contained a significant amount of wind element and it managed to break his mother out of her state of shock. Losing a husband in the span of three seconds was not easy.

The mother, now aware of her surroundings, flew towards the north while Khaos pointed both his hands at the bird, which had just shaken off the itch it got from Khaos' wind blades. Then, out of Khaos' open palms, a torrent of fire blew out, engulfing the bird and setting it ablaze.

While the creature was screeching in pain, or anger, Khaos flew towards his mother, who was now a kilometer away. However, when Khaos was 500 meters away from reaching his mother, a gigantic, 100 meter long worm jumped from underground, heading straight for the fleeing woman.

"No!" Khaos screamed, his eyes began glowing in a white light as sparks of lightning gathered on his forearms. With an ear piercing scream, a dozen bolts of lightning blasted out his palms and struck the worm head on.

Alas, it was fruitless, the worm seized as lightning ravaged it, but not before swallowing Khaos' mother and diving back into the ground. Then, just as all hope seemed lost, the beast jumped back out of the ground, screaming, screeching or roaring, whatever sound worms in pain make.

Through his tear filled eyes, Khaos noticed that a certain part of the worm's body was glowing red, like there was a bright light inside it.

Suddenly, a column of fire burst though the worm from the inside out, greatly injuring but not killing it. Khaos dived down as a dozen spears made of earth appeared before him and shot at the creature.

All of the spears pierced through the head of the still squirming beast, effectively ending it's life.
