Chereads / How to Make a Goddess / Chapter 6 - Kneel

Chapter 6 - Kneel

"It's easy, isn't it?" A voice asks, and Amaranth jumps. She's been standing out on the balcony outside of the loft, taking time to herself as Avlan sleeps in bed. She has her robe wrapped tightly around her, looking around to find the source of the voice. She finds bright eyes looking out at her from the tree not too far from the cottage. Eyes that she had seen only a day prior.

"What are you doing back here?" She asks Perthius, and the blonde leans against the trunk from where he sits on the branch. He stands up, balancing himself on the branch before making his way over to the balcony's railing.

"I thought I saw something earlier when you threw your little tantrum." Perthius whispers as to not wake Avlan. He leans in even closer. "I didn't know what it was, but I can see it clearer now that you've fucked my brother."

"Shut up—"

"You are to bring destruction to this world and the next." Perthius answers. "Goddess of Destruction if you will." He hums, reaching out to run his fingers through Amaranth's hair. "Nobody has ever seen the purple fire you hold, nobody here or in the Dynasty." Amaranth's eyes widen, and Perthius can feel as the heat sparks at his fingertips. "Avlan would be smart to kill you now before you bring the world to an end." She steps back, holding her hand to her chest and clutching her fist.

Goddess of Destruction? Shouldn't they already have one? Why her? She continues to step back until her back hits something hard, and she feels Avlan's familiar warmth swallow her.

"Since when can you see the future of the Dynasty?" Avlan asks, and Perthius scoffs. Avlan steps in front of Amaranth again, or he tries to. She holds her ground and doesn't let him, turning her head to the side as she looks at Perthius curiously.

"You're afraid of me." She says softly, and Perthius freezes in his spot, eyes widening slightly. Avlan watches as Amaranth slowly takes steps towards him, reaching out her hands which Perthius is quick to shy away from. Small hands cup his face and hold him in his spot with ease, Amaranth smiling as she rubs her thumbs against his cheeks.

"I'm not…" He trails off, eyes scanning her face which is unreadable besides the purple that flares inside her eyes.

"Scared enough to want Avlan to kill me?" She asks, and Perthius shakes his head to the best of his ability. Avlan watches as his brother turns into a small child. It reminds him of their childhood, when Perthius would get himself into trouble then look onto Avlan for help. A Goddess of Destruction is a myth, even amongst the Gods. A woman created with greed but reborn in love and power.

She's nothing but a vessel for power that even the strongest Gods cannot contain. A Goddess that should be either killed or imprisoned before she comes to full power. Avlan can almost see it. It's bodies upon bodies, ruble and destruction as it surrounds Amaranth where she sits on her throne, purple eyes glowing at him in the dark. He kneels to her in the vision, bows his head to his bride and the love of his life.

Of his eternity.

"Amaranth." He says, stepping up to the two of them. She continues to stare at Perthius, and Avlan watches in what feels like slow motion as Perthius does the same as he did in his vision.

He kneels.

Perthius kneels.
