Chapter 2 - The Gathering Storm

( 6 years later)

I can't believe I'm doing this," Ever said, gripping the hands of her twin boys.

Ever stood at the door contemplating if she should enter inside or not.

On the other hand, Alessandro stood firmly, commanding attention from the crowd. He was going to get married to Natalia today.

The door sprung open, revealing Ever and her twin boys. The crowd...

"Who's she?" Someone murmured

"Is that daddy?" Leo, Ever's son asked.

Alessandro was agitated. He also couldn't believe his eyes when they connected with Ever's.

A tidal wave of murmurs erupted, cameras flashing as speculation ignited. Natalia's face hardened in fury, while Allesandro felt the weight of every gaze in the room.

"Enough!" he yelled. His temper was unflavored and insulted more.

As he spoke, the noise was briefly lowered, but the damage was already done.

Ever caught his eye with her fierce glint. "I did not come here to spoil your night, Allesandro." She stated. "But it seems you have not informed your fiancée all she has to know about your past.

Allesandro couldn't stand what she said. He got off the stage to reach out her arm, but she stumbled, and he caught her instead, his hands wrapped around her waist, her body pressed against his, and for a moment, it seemed like they were about to kiss, and for a fleeting instant, they just stared at each other.

As they stood there in a frozen pose, a little girl's voice pierced the air. "Mommy, are you and Daddy kissing?" Isla's eyes sparkled with innocence, but her words sent a sting through the air.

As he tried to speak, Ever swiftly turned on her heels, the little ones bound to her clasp. Much steadfast and burning in anger, he attempted to watch her blonde octagonal hair bobbing up and down with her step towards dusk escape, where she pulled it out of a bun and stopped.

She turned around, taking long strides until she reached Allesandro. "So you're going to marry her? Do you even love her more than me? You thought you could get rid of me forever?" Ever questioned, whispering into Alessandro's ear.

Without wasting more time, she clicked her heels, exiting the suffocating atmosphere of the hall, leaving Allesandro dumbfounded by confusion and self-loathing. His chest tightened with the weight of her words.

"What's going on, Allesandro?" Natalia's urge was oozing irritably low. Another guest blurted out, "Wow, she's so stunning. No wonder he couldn't even resist her even at his engagement ceremony."

"That woman doesn't know what she is getting herself into, marrying a man with two kids and an ex-wife who could steal him with just looks." The other murmured.

Natalia yelled out to her guests. "Stop it! It's my engagement for God's sake!" Allesandro, handle this mess, for our sake. Just make this stop. Her voice trembled as she called out to him.

However, just when he was clearing his throat to speak, a sudden blackout intervened. In the blink of an eye, he saw the opportunity and vanished, leaving the guests speechless.

"Where is the groom?" Someone asks aloud. "Did he follow her?" another guest whispers, nodding toward the door.

Natalia's face hardened her eyes wide with worry. She looks around frantically as if searching for Alessandro.

"I saw the way he looked at her. He still had feelings for her. No wonder he followed her."

"Maybe he's just overwhelmed; I mean, this is a lot to handle, even for a rich old man like him."

"He's probably going to fix things with her; I mean, who needs a wedding when you have unfinished business?"

This is insane. I've never seen something like this before, and I have no idea what is going on." The speculations grew and grew as the minutes ticked by, the tension building in the room.

As the lights flickered again, Natalia's anxiety grew, and the guests were at final gasps. The air was filled with confusing words. People were leaving, and others were stirring at their seats but still searching for Alessandro, who suddenly vanished.
