After dropping Natalia off at her house, Ambrose wasted no time and drove straight to the hospital. His mind was clouded with thoughts Ever had been avoiding him, and something felt off.
As he stepped into the hospital, he adjusted his suit and walked toward Ever's private room. When he reached the door, he took a deep breath before knocking and pushing it open.
Ever, who had been resting, sat up immediately when she saw him. "Ambrose? What are you doing here?" she asked, her voice laced with exhaustion.
He studied her carefully. She looked paler than usual, and there was something in her eyes something she was trying to hide.
"We need to talk, Ever." His voice was controlled, but there was an edge to it.
Ever sighed, rubbing her temples. "Ambrose, I'm really tired right now. Can't it wait?"
He stepped closer, his gaze dark. "No, it can't. Are you hiding something from me?"
