As soon as Allesandro carried Ever inside his grand estate, the twins came running.
"Mommy!" Isla and Leo's voices rang through the vast hallway as they dashed toward her, their little feet echoing against the marble floors.
Ever barely had time to steady herself before Isla latched onto her leg, and Leo wrapped his small arms around her waist.
"We missed you!" Isla pouted.
"Did Daddy bring you home for good?" Leo asked hopefully.
Ever forced a smile, running her fingers through their soft hair. "Mommy's just visiting, my loves."
Her eyes flickered to the staircase, to the very spot where she had collapsed in tears, pleading, while Allesandro's cold voice tore her apart.
Ever stood frozen in their bedroom, her hands trembling as she clutched the pregnancy test. Two lines. A child. Their child.
