"Do you want to eat something? Are you hungry?"
Ellie nodded quietly in response to Ethan's question. She had been wondering when would be a good time to tell him the truth, and this seemed like a perfect opportunity.
"Can we go somewhere a bit quieter? I have something to tell you."
"There's a 24-hour café just ahead. Let's go there."
The place Ethan took her to was a three-story café building. The two of them settled at a window seat on the third floor, where there were the fewest people, and shared chamomile tea and a soufflé.
"Ellie, what did you want to talk about?"
"Well..."
"It's not something sad like calling off the engagement, is it?"
"...It's similar."
"Oh no."
Ethan's face immediately fell, looking hurt. Ellie found it strange that he would make such a sad expression when they had only met once at a matchmaking meeting.
"But the decision is entirely up to you, Ethan."
"The decision...? You mean whether to call off the engagement or not is up to me?"
