A looming mood of joy , festivities and excitement , the sun falling into the night and the darkening sky as clear as the river Nile in the moonlit reflection. Tonight was the perfect evening , everyone busy preparing to either gaze at the fireworks hitting the mounted horizon or be the ones launching them into the infinite beauty and and mass of space . However, most would be sitting down near a screen watching and wondering about the youngster who stood next to the trial lectern, ready to receive an awakening for the the rest of his either short or long life.
Beside him the baldheaded elderly man said to the viewers and present spectators ,"Now!... young Colin Garwood shall place his right hand onto the centre of the medium and receive the awakening of the lifetime that shall decide his future. Please place your hand on the medium now."
Colin's hand had already reached the medium by the time anyone heard the boy across the street shout ,"Watch out!", but by the time he realized it he was already away from the dry ,warm land , drifting down to the bottom of the bay , helplessly screaming for help but only taking in more water into his lungs.
Since he was nothing more than an infant his father Rodnick had attempted to instruct him to swim but to the objections of the chubby little Colin he caved in and let him be. His heart filled with regret among other things saying why didn't I try as he plunged into the sea floor.
THUDD!!!
He had reached the bottom floor , accepting the end for him he forced his eyes open watched the aquamarine life going about and thought to himself that if his lungs weren't totally flooded with litres of water he would've sighed in the admiration of a quiet by ever-so-moving and thus he surrendered to grasp of eternal peace .
"Open your eyes , boy!", a deep voice ordered him with a slowness to the command . Even though he had just released whatever bound him to the earth , Colin jolted awake , breathing heavily to the sudden call . Before anything else he grabbed his mouth and nose to make sure that he couldn't take in more of the drowning water.
"Let go , view your surroundings and face me , boy!", the fact that he had lost all the signs that he had drowned he let go and swung his arms around and steadied himself onto the gravel and seaweed. Facing the one behind the voice he widened his eyes in shock.
"You're... you're a swordfish!!?", almost like a shout he clutched his throat and wondered how he was talking underwater. The fish answered his inner question as though he were reading his mind ,"Indeed I am a swordfish and the only reason you aren't on your way to the afterlife is because there is an imbalance in the world as it is.The seas poisoned by man and the land conquered by monsters. Nonetheless, I have been sent by my master whom I shall not name however, he has allowed me to grant you a temporary minture awakening in preparation for the power you shall master as you grow with my power. Now that you know do you have any questions?"
Almost subconsciously, Colin looked downwards holding his chin ,thinking and deciding ,"None."
"Very well , moreover if you want to check how much stronger you've gotten—he laughed—"You must find a water body and dive into it . Understand?" "Acknowledged.",he answered.
"Now , rise boy . From the depths of the sea and the trenches of the deep. Go now!".
The sea floor gravel was starting to look farther and farther , Colin realized that he was rising and very quickly. , <
Day after New year's
Colin without breaking his stride kicked the door open and fell on the couch for some decent sleep since all that transpired over the past few days . Then he remembered that his twin older sister ,Ariel would be back from her party in an hour or so , so he rose quickly a shine in his eyes and picked up the cleaning box and began brooming and scrubbing the entire house from top to bottom , left to right .
(Knock! ,Knock!) .
He shoved the kit into his room and rushed to the door , straitening his black and blue coloured hair on the way . Colin pictured what he thought she would look like now since it had been four years since she left home for a retreat of spirituality.
His heart beating fastly , he steadied his breathing and opened the door ,"Who are you?", she asked him . The words themselves petrified him with shock and he fell forward." Ahh!" ,she yelled . He thought what had happened and he found that his mouth was on hers , his hand on her chest. He let go but she pulled him back and kissed him back. "What are you doing sis?" , he asked curiously.
"Colin , I leave my friend on the door and she's already necking you. ", in fact his sister was crossing the street holding a suit case . He wondered what was going to happen next.
