I set out to college with Percy. It was just like the old days, just this time we were talking about the afterlife instead of our future.
'So no one can see you?'
'Yeah, no one but you darling and other ghosts'.
'So you're telling me there are other ghosts roaming the streets.'
'Yeah, my friend Jeff's walking with us right now, he says hi'.
'Hi Jeff', I said awkwardly.
'Alright, now walk me through this Cleo girl'.
'Okay. While I was in limbo awaiting trial - I was scheduled to be judged in 59,000 years. There was this girl watching me from a corner and she said we were afterlife soulmates kinda.'
'What?!'
'Yeah, that's what I said, I shunned her off until she showed me a list of actual afterlife soulmates and I guess she was spot on. She said she had been waiting for me for a millennia but I was already set out on coming back to you so I politely declined. Then she vowed to kill you and your immortal soul.'
'How are you so unbothered, a ghost is literally after me' I said shrieking in fear.
'Didn't I tell you, I'll protect you, no need to worry'.
In that moment all I wanted to do was believe him, I mean he kept his promise to stay so what makes this one any different. Though the thought of Percy having a soulmate that wasn't me was quite a large pill to swallow but I wasn't going to give him up without a fight.
He walked me like a gentleman to my history class and sat right next to me. Then Marie (a friend of mine) came sitting right on top of him, even passing through his phantom body.
'I was worried melody, I'm glad you finally came back, how ya holding up', she asked sincerely.
'It's rough but I'm better than I thought I'd be', I answered.
'Glad to hear, ready for history?',she exclaimed.
'Totally!'
Professor Claud walked in and set up his projector. On the board was the most beautiful woman I think I ever saw.
'Today we'll be learning about who many consider to be the most beautiful woman in history'.
'No' I said to myself,'this can't be'.
'Queen Cleopatra', the professor exhaled
'Dont tell me…'
'Yep that looks just like her Percy', remarked.
I never thought I could get any weirder than this.
