Chapter 4 - Accomplish

Legnar walked in this war-torn base camp with steady steps and no hesitation. With every step, his combat boots left deep dents on the broken metal floor, and the echoing footsteps filled the air with depression and unknown. The surface of his armor still carried dark red enemy blood that had not completely evaporated, and some had solidified into a film. The air was filled with the smell of corrupt blood and charred metal, a smell he had long been accustomed to, and could even distinguish the burning temperature of the enemy's armor material from it.

The simulated map showed a faint blue light in his tactical vision, and the location of the core energy device was marked as a red bright spot, less than 500 meters away from him. But the map was not updated in real time, which meant that he had to deal with possible variables at every step. He quickly flipped through the enemy's energy system information and judged possible traps and defense deployments. While this analysis was going on in his mind, his body had already entered combat mode, his hands drooped naturally, the light blade of the energy sword quietly unfolded, emitting a cold blue light, and the other hand held a micro-magnetic railgun in case of emergency.

There were footsteps coming from the front of the passage, slight but dense. He immediately approached one side of the wall and hid himself in the shadows. The enemy patrol appeared, a team of fifteen people, all wearing heavy armor and holding powerful ion rifles. They had obviously received orders, and their formation was tight and orderly, with a hint of vigilance and eagerness in their steps. Legnar calmly analyzed for a few microseconds and decided to deal with them in the fastest way. He quickly took out a sound wave jammer with his left hand, set the fuse to two milliseconds, and threw it accurately to the center of the enemy team.

The sound waves of the explosion hit the enemy's hearing device at a destructive frequency. Several soldiers immediately fell to the ground with their heads in their hands. The muffled sound of heavy armor hitting the floor echoed in the narrow passage. Legnar did not give them a chance to recover, and his body rushed into the team like a black lightning. The first sword slash was extremely accurate, splitting the neck armor of the soldier in the front, and blood gushed out along with the broken spine, staining his vision red. He immediately turned over to avoid the enemy's laser shooting on the right, and swept the energy sword across, cutting off the waist of two soldiers who tried to encircle him.

In the brief chaos, several soldiers tried to adjust their firepower to suppress him. He keenly sensed the direction the other party was aiming, quickly jumped up, rolled to avoid several blazing ion beams, and then pressed the railgun against the visor of an enemy and pulled the trigger. With a sharp tearing sound of metal, the man's helmet was directly pierced, the skull and brain tissue burst together, and the red and white liquid splashed on the armor of his companions around him, causing a noticeable shake. He did not waste this moment of advantage, and threw a nano-explosive bomb with his left hand, accurately embedding it into the enemy group. The high heat generated by the explosion completely engulfed the three soldiers, and even the armor was melted into twisted fragments.

The last three soldiers tried to retreat backwards, trying to distance themselves and reorganize the defense line, but Legnar did not give them any breathing space. He rushed at the speed of a beast, and the arc of light drawn by the energy sword was precise and ruthless. The first person's chest armor was pierced straight through, and his heart evaporated into blood mist under the high temperature; the second person tried to turn around and escape, but he kicked him and broke his leg joints, and then the sword pierced his head from the back, and died miserably; the last soldier tried desperately to detonate his energy core to die with him, but was discovered by Legnar in advance and shot through the energy core. With a violent explosion, the body was torn into several pieces, and flesh and metal fragments flew everywhere.

The passage returned to silence, but the air was full of the oppression of death. He quickly checked the armor. New cracks appeared on the armor of the left shoulder, and the cooling module of the leg thruster also showed signs of overheating, but it did not affect the core function. He calmly put away his weapons and continued to advance towards the target area.

When he arrived at the periphery of the core energy device, the expected heavy guard force had indeed been waiting for a long time. This was a defense team composed of dozens of elite soldiers and two medium-sized combat mechas. Their positions were carefully arranged, and the crossfire and high-energy barriers formed a tight blockade. Any enemy who tried to break through by force would face a devastating blow. Legnar narrowed his eyes slightly and calculated the best attack path.

He took out a high-energy concussion bomb, set the delay to three milliseconds, and activated the stealth device of the armor at the same time, quietly approaching from the enemy's flank. Then he threw the concussion bomb at the speed of sound. When the concussion bomb exploded, he quickly rushed into the chaotic firepower area and first locked the control console of a combat mecha. He jumped into the air, accurately cut off the main power supply line of the mecha, opened the armor, and then used the rail gun to make up a shot, directly shooting the operator in the cockpit. The uncontrolled mecha shook a few times, and finally fell to the ground with a bang, killing several soldiers who attempted to reinforce.

Another mecha immediately turned and aimed heavy firepower at him. He quickly rolled to one side, blocked part of the shock wave with armor, and split the knee joint of the mecha with an energy sword. The center of gravity of the mecha was unstable, and it tried to force him back with a flamethrower, but he cut in from a blind spot and split the main weapon system. He jumped up and entered the cockpit. The bloody close combat made the operator torn into several pieces without even a chance to react.

With the destruction of the mecha, the remaining soldiers quickly collapsed. They tried to retreat, but were hunted down one by one by Legnar. Every swing of his sword was with absolute precision and murderous intent. With the scenes of broken limbs, blood, and internal organs scattered everywhere, this area was completely transformed into a Shura field.

Then he quickly rushed to the location of the core energy device, but at the same time Legnar knew that the defense near the core energy device would never be easily broken. From the scan displayed in the tactical vision, there are at least 4,000 fully armed soldiers deployed here, and dozens of heavy mechanical units, enough to crush any enemy who approached rashly into pieces. More importantly, he has now experienced many high-intensity battles, and the energy reserves of the armor are rapidly decreasing. The thrusters could no longer maintain continuous high-speed movement, and the local cracks in the armor began to cause subtle operational delays. But even so, he still did not hesitate. He did not choose to attack because he was reckless, but because he knew his duty: find the core and destroy it.

He squatted behind a broken wall and quickly surveyed the battlefield terrain. The core area is an open space with heavy firepower aiming points on all sides. Automatic induction mines were laid on the ground, and there were high-energy shield generators suspended in the air to continuously provide protection for the defensive positions. His brows frowned slightly. This airtight arrangement was obviously designed specifically for possible super-strong invaders. But he was not an ordinary invader. He was Legnar, an elite warrior of the Empire, a precise and efficient killing machine.

He first checked the armor's arsenal. The remaining ammunition of the railgun was only enough to fire up to 30 times, the energy sword's energy storage could support ten minutes of efficient combat, and there were no more than 6 explosive ammunition left. He thought for a moment and adjusted his tactical plan. It would be suicidal to rush into the core, but he didn't need to confront all the defenders head-on. He chose a more cunning path: gradually weaken the enemy's defense line, forcing them to mobilize troops to pursue him, and create a local gap.

A jammer was activated in his hand, and he gently threw it to an automatic turret position on the right. With a brief silence, a high-frequency pulse swept through the enemy's communication system, and the nearby team immediately fell into chaos. Taking advantage of this moment of distraction, he activated the thrusters and rushed out from the shadows on the other side, quickly approaching a group of patrols. Before the first soldier had time to turn his head, Legnar's energy sword had already split his back armor, and the blade pierced through the spine with a bloody mist. He turned over to avoid the firepower of another person, aimed the magnetic railgun in his hand at the other person's chest, and fired a shot. The soldier and his organs in his chest were torn into pieces, and his body was thrown directly against the wall.

The rest of the patrol finally reacted and began to suppress his actions with intensive firepower. He quickly slid into the bunker and felt an energy beam brushing against his shoulder armor. Although it did not penetrate, the heat still made him feel a sting. He touched his shoulder and found that the heat-resistant coating on the surface of the armor had been burned out. The next moment, he leaned out and threw a micro-bomb, which landed accurately in the center of the enemy. The shock wave of the explosion tore three people apart, and at the same time caused the rest to fall into a brief chaos. He seized the opportunity to rush over and use the energy sword to sweep them one by one. As each sword split the enemy's armor, he could feel the dull pain transmitted to his arm through the hilt.

The sound of the battle attracted the attention of more defenders, and a large number of heavy mechanical units began to gather towards his position. These mechanical units were as high as 17 meters and equipped with a variety of weapon systems, including high-frequency laser cannons and micro-missile launchers. He hid between a pile of ruins, and his mind was running through the countermeasures at a rapid speed. He must weaken the combat capability of these mechanical units, otherwise a head-on battle would be tantamount to seeking death.

He activated a set of small drones on the back of the armor and quickly flew to the other side of the battlefield, sending out interference signals to induce several mechanical units to turn their fire. He took advantage of this gap to get close to the side of a mech, aimed the railgun at the weak point of its leg joint, and shot it through with one shot. The mech shook violently, trying to keep its balance, but he had already jumped onto the back of the mech and inserted the energy sword into the core module, cutting off the internal wiring. The huge mech killed several infantrymen when it fell to the ground.

However, his tactics soon attracted more intense firepower coverage. Dense lasers and missiles fell like a rainstorm, and he had to try his best to avoid them, while turning on the electromagnetic protection system of the armor to offset the impact of the attack as much as possible. Even so, he was still blown away by a missile that exploded at close range and fell heavily to the ground. He felt a dull pain in his chest, and the life monitoring system inside the armor warned that his ribs might have a slight fracture.

He gritted his teeth and quickly got up, and found that the leg thrusters had malfunctioned. He picked up an enemy ion rifle from the ground and adjusted his breathing with the broken bunker. He knew that his energy reserves were close to the bottom line, but he remained calm and waited for the next wave of enemy attacks. He only heard his steady heartbeat and the constant roar of explosions.

After a brief silence, the enemy launched a new round of offensive. A large number of soldiers approached in a scattered formation, while two newly arrived heavy mechas provided suppressive fire from a distance. He aimed at the cockpit of one of the mechas and hit it accurately with two consecutive shots, destroying its vision system. Taking advantage of the gap when the opponent lost the target lock, he threw a final high-energy bomb at another mecha, successfully destroying the opponent's firepower core. With a loud bang, the entire mecha began to spontaneously combust inside, and then exploded violently, covering hundreds of soldiers with energy and shock waves. Despite the cover of the bunker, Legnar was also affected by the shock wave and high temperature, and such a high-frequency battle also caused his physical strength to drain rapidly, and his movements began to appear slightly slow.

At this time, an enemy commander appeared above the core area, and his voice echoed throughout the space through the loudspeaker: "Intruder, you are surrounded and there is no way to escape!" Legnar looked up, sneered, and blew up the loudspeaker with a railgun. He sprinted towards the core energy device again. Although his energy was almost exhausted and his physical strength was close to the limit, he still did not hesitate. He knew that as long as he could destroy the device, all these sacrifices would be worth it.

With the last sword splitting the guard of the passage, he stood in front of the core device, with countless corpses and burning mechanical wreckage behind him. He took a deep breath, inserted the energy sword into the energy core, and whispered: "Mission accomplished."
