Even as she got in the C.E.O's elevator heading to the I.T department, Asia was nervous. She had no reason to be at that company. Her own colleagues were probably talking about her. Oh David would be her end.
She quickly shifted her thoughts to Allan. He was the most loving person she knew. He was six foot tall, with scruffy hair and really slim. He wore eye glasses and always seemed timid. But Asia knew there was nothing timid about her Allan. She smiled.
When she first met him, it was at a team building event for all the three Mara companies. The two had been pitted against each other in arm wrestling. As they took their positions, Asia had wondered why a group would forward such a skinny lad. She easily won. When they met at lunch time, he went for a talk.
"I let you win," he said, didn't look at her.
"Then why is your head on fire?" Asia asked smiling. Allan was caught off guard, he laughed.
"I had to lose to you, in more ways than one," he moved closer.
"Oh yeah? Which other way did you lose?" Asia looked at him.
"I had sworn to never date a colleague," Allan held her chin.
Allan hadn't come off as confident. Yet what he did, not many people could. Asia was surprised. People turned and looked at them. Asia smiled and blushed.
"I am taking you for a walk after dinner," Allan said, his arm going round Asia.
"Oh, okay. I will see you after dinner then, um ..." She didn't know his name.
"Allan. Your brand new boyfriend, Asia. Our names rhyme," he was smiling.
"I will see you later, Allan," Asia said.
That was two years ago. They had gone for that walk and kissed. They had got on so well. He was Asia's first boyfriend and was near perfect.
"Hi baby," Asia whispered from behind Allan.
"Asia, what a refreshing surprise!" Allan pulled her for a hug as his colleagues whistled.
"You need a lady or two in this department. Too much testosterone around here," she whispered.
"How are you here, my darling?" he asked, stroked her cheeks.
"My MD is here for a meeting, my love. I missed you," she whispered.
"I miss you more. Will you come over later? I will make your favourite," he said, rubbed her neck affectionately.
"I will, just for dinner. I must run now," she said, planted a kiss on his lips.
Allan dragged Asia out of the office. He held her hand as they went back to the CEO's office. He asked when she would sleep over. Probably the weekend.
Allan asked to take Asia somewhere, as a surprise, over the weekend and she giggled, readily agreed. He took her all the way to the C.E.O's door and left. She would go by in the evening.
David saw a more relaxed Asia. She smiled, used his phone to turn on some music and pulled him up to dance. He wouldn't protest. He owed her. Also, he enjoyed the dance. Why couldn't Violet be like her sister?
"Allan makes you happy." David said, spun Asia round.
"Yes, we marry soon." Asia smiled, wrapped both her arms round David.
"You are only twenty four, two young for marriage." David said, felt Asia's shoulders move as she laughed.
"You are what, twenty eight? You are getting old and unmarried!" She pocked him. "Marry my sister already!"
"Allan is not the one for you, sunshine. Don't rush." David meant it and Asia knew.
"Or what?" Asia shot back.
"I might have to put him down," David said seriously.
"Fuck you. Let's go back to work," Asia grabbed the keys.
When Asia left work slightly past 5 PM, she went straight to Allan's as promised. She saw the excitement in his eyes as she let herself in. He chuckled, hugged her tightly and pulled her up.
Much as Allan had food simmering in the kitchen, he pulled Asia astride him as she wrapped her arms round his neck. She kissed him passionately as he focused on getting them to the bedroom.
"I want you here with me, Asia," Allan said as they sat to eat.
"I am right here, aren't I?" she smiled at him.
"I want you here as my wife. What do you think?" he was tasting the waters.
"I want that too. I love you baby," Asia whispered then kept eating.
Asia loved the silence as they ate. She looked at Allan and thought of the children they would have. She giggled. Maybe three kids. Two girls and one boy. They would be loved.
She smiled at Allan. He was ever calm. Maybe the children would come with his personality. That or Asia would be damned if they had her personality. She giggled. The children would look nice with Allan's scruffy hair.
By the time Asia got home, it was 10 PM and Violet as sound asleep. Violet took her beauty sleep a little too seriously.
Asia went to her room. It was at the extreme end. Everything about it was girly. She had lived there since her college days. Pink walls.
She dropped in bed and giggled. Her time with Allan was really great. It felt as if he would pop the question soon. Asia's mother and sister knew him and loved him. Marrying him wouldn't be a problem.
"I will marry you soon. I want you here." Allan texted.
Asia read his text and giggled. Allan was Asia's mind reader. He knew her. They had met at one of the company's team building exercises and instantly clicked. After almost two years of being together, he could read her like a book. If Violet wasn't keen, Asia would get married first.
"I miss you too, handsome." She texted after getting ready for bed.
Allan called as soon as Asia tucked herself in the cosy bed. Then they talked for thirty minutes as if they hadn't been together that very night. Yes, marriage for them sounded like the perfect idea.
