Annie was st the reception box when kev walked in,he looked a bit confused not that any of that was her problem in any way but he looked shaken.He had walked past her,got to the stairs,walked back to her,asked her name and gave her this ward of cash and request she buy her new clothes.That moment of slight interaction,she felt like she wanted to strangle him with her bare hands.But not on a saturday like this.This is that one special day to her.This is the only time,she could actually see her daughter Beau.For years she would spend her half day off being at the kids theme show grounds,at the centre of the city.Every saturday her daughter would be there having a blast,without knowing that her real mother was close by watching her.It was always difficult for her.After she got pregnant and got cut off her family,she had to fight the urge to abort the baby.She knew that would be a constant reminder of that night at Bennie's,but her better judgment really fought against her,this situation she was in, was solely on Kev.He was responsible for destroying her life,not the baby inside her and with that Beau survived,and when she was born,Annie sold her baby to a couple that had been struggling to have a child of their own.And Beau was not put up for adoption,the couple had made arrangements,so that the barren woman had put on a fake pregnancy for months,and when Annie was ready to deliver the woman came to the hospital to collect.On that night the woman walked away with a beautiful baby,Annie walked away with pain,tears and some cash as icing on her bitter cake.But she was smart,she used part of that money to pay the doctors involved to get the identity of her daughter's new 'parents'.They were good parents who took their child out every saturday,and from a distance Annie had watched her grow from a toddler to a beautiful young girl.She would be there running around,laughing or just enjoying her ice cream and Annie wished she had hanged on this bundle of joy for one more second, when she had a chance on that night.But back to the present world,Kev had made a request that she gets him some new clothes,she left Dan to stand in for her as she headed out.
Jerry now understood why Kev was back.He was back to finish what he had started before he went to jail,he wanted to kill everyone.Why would Fox just leave the very same moment he showed up?Jerry was fired up.Kev had disintergrated the whole gang,after his arrest,everyone on Big Father's circle was either dead or tied to a bounty on their heads,what had saved Jerry was he was a lesser known member because Big Father had purposely engineered him to be insignificant in the organisations structure,he had access to privilages other members did not have but he was more of a background item.That did hurt him,his own father owned almost an entire city,he was a big player while his son played second fiddle to some street kid who came up through the supposed 'ranks'.His father had trusted Kev with his entire life and that ended up with him almost losing his life,and who came up at the hour of need it was Jerry,who had taken care of big father in his prolonged coma,it was Jerry,who fed him,clothed him,washed him,while he was recovering it was again Jerry,it is always Jerry.But this time round he was going to do things without involving that bald headed Big Father,he was going to pull all the strings by himself,he had put together a group of guys,Mike,Trevor,jack and spence.Though not a good fit though,they still needed some polish to get their shine but it was a working progress.
" Guys be ready for tonight,we are taking Kev out tonight,at any slight chance we get we pull one on him.So everyone get your vodoo rites correct because he is not surving this night" Jerrey knew that by telling early would put them mentally ready.
Back at TLC,the third party had got back to the hotel.at the counter was Dan who simply nodded at them as they passed by.They hoped that Fox's disappearance would trigger Kev to begin making his moves,they really needed him to start pointing towards that list,they needed to just collect and and be on their merry way.There was a slight knock on one of the doors,to which the leader of the third party stood up opened the door slightly and he was just in time to catch Annie entering Kev's room and with her she carried what looked like a shopping bag.They did not know what to do about Annie,this is twice today that she had raised suspicion,what could she be helping Kev access?It is no coincidence that in the morning she spend quite some time in there and now again.To top that they were not sure what she had seen in the morning,when she came to their room.But if need be then she will have to be collateral damage,this whole operation was way more than saving one person,if she in anyway became an obstacle she qould have to be removed.
"Are they ok?I did not know if i was to take large or small so i took everything medium"Annie while trying to scan the room.She knewthe outlay of room 105,but she just wanted to check if there were guns or knives.But in Kevs room all she could see was just this one bag that was under the bed,she was tempted to go and open its zipper and check out the contents.
"They fit but a bit tight but they have to do.What do they smell this way?"Kev was still in the bathroom looking at the mirror looking at himself.Annie was already in the middle of the room she had to get to that bag and she bent down to touch rhe zipper....
"All new clothes smell that way,it is a perfume"she was being very careful not to raise any suspicion,she pulled the bag a little bit away from the bed.
"Why would someone assume wveryone would love this particular perfume"Kev had seen enough of himself he opened the door.Outside TLC,Jerry and his crew were out a little far from the enterance,they had hired a new vihicle that had more space in it.They had their balaclava ski masks and ofcourse Jerry would no pass a moment to get into trev's skin.
"Trev... really ski masks....what are we bank robbers?"
"I thought you wanted something that would completely cover our entire faces" Trev knew that Jerry was poking fun at him...
"How do you even breath in these" Jerry said picking up one of the masks,"why is this one blue?"
"Leaders need to be different dont they?" Trev could see the other three bursting u" I know you love yellow,but i could not find one"there was even more laughter in the car. They needed these light moments because they were in a very volatile situation things could change really quickly.They had to sit here and hope Kev makes a mistake of walking out of the hotel like he had previously done,they needed just one chance,the gun was well loaded.But it was going to be a long day.A woman rushed out of TLC like she was running away from something.
Up in the sky,darkness was sweeping slowly subdueing the bright orange sun.If there was anything beautiful thing in this city,it was that sunset,it set a beautiful line in the horizon,the westside part of the town was heavily forested.The forest was mythical as much as it was magical.It is said that deep in the forest are unmarked graves of peope who are either against the government or those who have been killed by gangsters.... though no one relly knows where the truth lies,it is normal for people to get lost in this city and no one is usually found,there also stories of there being no graves but instead,hyenas and crocodiles in the river but at the end of the day these are just hearsay.The moon had already set it and TLC had became the alternate of the sun at night,the building had lights that could be visible past the bridge,it called on lost souls.
"Shit,guys.... guys wake the fuck up!" Mike was the lookout while the others were taking a nap.Kev ha just hopped into a taxi,and was aready leaving the hotel.Jerry woke up tuened the ignition and sped off after the taxi.They had not planned for this.They had planned for a driveby shooting.Now this was getting messy.Back at TLC the third party rushed down the stairs... their designated driver was was just two minutes out,things had gone as they expected,Kev had started making moves,now all they needed was to follow him,the real work started tonght.Annie had survived a close call before on the day,just as she had started opening the zipper of the bag under the bed,Kev had bursted out of the bathroom,but he was more interested on how he looked than,what Annie was upto,she had to give the bag a small nudge with her feet to send it back to where it was previously.In that moment of clumsiness,she had asked Kev how he found the hotel food,and suprisingly he was a fan of homemade food.This gave Annie an easy way,food poisoning.Now she had to go and see Beau,then go and start preparing her magic portion,and boy oh boy!She was going to cook tonight and she will do one better by delivering the food by herself.Once she was done with him she will never step a foot in TLC,maybe change her name,dye her hair and look for a low profile job,so that she could still be able to see Beau.
Kev had gotten out of the taxi and he was stealthily walking towards Fox's house.He needed to know if there was more clue to what had happened to Fox.Did he have the list.He had to get in there,ofcourse he would not go through the door,he was no fool,the police must have combed the whole place by now.Jerry had told his team to hold,why was Kev sneaking around,They had their chance of maybe getting him by the alley that led to Fox's house,that alley provided him no escape route,it was between the backs of two long buildings,but Jerry was suprised at Kev's manouvres,was he expecting someone in the house.
"Hide the car, we are following him on foot,if he gets into that house we kill him"Jerry was intense,his voice sharp.Game on.
Kev was suprised,firstly did he not smash one of these doors into pieces,where is the DO NOT CROSS tape around this place.This was supposed to be a crime scene,he was here in the morning,there was lots of blood.Then why was the place clean?There was a strong smell of bleach,he had came in through the window at the back,but now this whole place looked pristine,carpets all scrapped of the floor,this was a clean up.Jerry felt a bit weird in the blue mask,he felt so exposed,but he was in here now this had to be done.Kev heard some movement,he could tell from outside there were more than two people,and they were stalling,he was being sorrounded,he touched his waist,he had forgotten to bring his gun,he clenched his fist and put them up,he was going down with them.Time stood for a while,the city went silent,you could hear a pin drop.Mike jumped into the room,he had a knife,he went for Kev's chest,but be jumped out of the way,and let loose his left hand hook,which caught mike squarely on the chin,he flew across the room.He could not tell how many teeth he had left in his mouth,and his entire jaw pained him down to his neck.Trev,Spence and Jack all went at him at the same time knives drawn out,Kev ducked most of their attacts but Trev had caught him with one,Kev had shielded his chest and his arm paid the price.He sent a kick to Trev,hitting him so hard between the legs,making him to let go of the knife that was still hanging on Kev's body,Spence and Jack made attempt at Kev for which they received blows powerful enough to knock them off their feet.Now it was Jerry's turn,he pulled out the pistol took an aim.
The third party arrived at the place,but in the house was commotion,a fight was taking place.But they did not know who was fighting who and they had to be careful approaching the situation.If they hit Kev,then this whole thing was over,if he was in that fight and died this thing was over.The were sitting on a double edged sword any move they make the cut cold be lethal.Back in the room,Kev had jumped on Jerry's hand before he pulled the trigger on him,they were trying to get a better control of the gun,a shot rang.Outside things were getting really hot,all the third party members were armed to the teeth,they had pulled out their guns ready to pounce.Kev had missed being shot on the head by a whisker.He pulled the knife out of his arm stuck it into Jerry's thighs.That split second,Kev went back through the window and within seconds the motorcycle engine roared.He made a run for it.Jerrys crew rushed out and headed for their car,they were going after him.The third party had been forced to retreat to their car.But the leader made a call.He had seen Kev on a motorcycle now he needed a trap set by the brige for the other car.Which had whizzed past them just seconds ago.They followed suit.Kev was headed to TLC,he could see car lights on his side mirror he just needed to get to the bridge and just shake them off.
Two,hours later Kev was in TLC,he had cleaned up and put a bandage around his arm.He did not understand what had happened,first the attack,and why did his pursuers stop at the bridge.He really had no clue and the fact that he had been shot at.
Annie reached the hotel and went straight up to room 105,she had brought with her some homemade food and a cold juice drink.That drink was the one that was going to do the trick,it was cynide laced just one sip and Kev was done with.Kev opened the door and the aroma that hit him made him even more hungry.He let Ann in,closed the door and went and sat on the bed as Annie served her some food.
"You have high affinity to death" Annie said pointing at Kev's wound that was still bleading through the bandage.she was serving him the food.
"Yeah,my past life is always around the corner"
"Anything you regret"this question meant alot to Annie,she wanted to know what type of a man he was before he sipped his last breath.
"I only regret one thing,before i went to jail,there this person i hurt,I was drugged and did something to this person and I am looking for her to just say I am sorry,and maybe compensate her in a way for her pain,but finding her is just like when it rains in the ocean"
"What happens when it rains in the ocean?"Annie was finding it hard to swallow her own saliva,was he talking of her.
"Ocean is water,rain is water so it does it add anything?,I had this friend,his last words were,she is honey and the child i cannot make sense of any of it,why is the woman honey?And what is the child doing with her" Kev was more open,to Annie that he had expected,Jacob was the only one who he had been more open to,he lifted the glass of cold juice.
